With the increase in infrastructure needs and tunnel construction, more complicated geometries have come to light, especially in cross tunnel design and construction. The major factors to influence existing tunnels are spacing between tunnels, relative position, size of the new tunnel, construction techniques, topographic and geologic conditions, structure, and alternative construction. In this study, settlement from an excavation for a new tunnel near an existing tunnel, settlement from a change in position of the new tunnel relative to an existing tunnel, and the distribution of deformations of the existing tunnel as a result of excavating the cross-location are analyzed through laboratory model tests. As the results, in condition of the new tunnels go through below the existing tunnel, not only analysed through the standard of the diameter of the tunnel, so it would need to set up to strengthen the field within each side of the 1D, but also determined the part of the cross in the existing and the new tunnel, should implement the reinforcement from the part of new tunnel to the existing tunneling influence of excavation.
In this study, scaled model tests were performed to investigate the stability of twin tunnels with small clearance, where the pillar widths were 0.5D and 0.25D, respectively. The tunnels were supposed to be constructed in anisotropic weathered rocks with $30^{\circ}$ inclined bedding planes, and the model tests were conducted under the condition of lateral pressure ratio, 1. Six types of test models which had respectively different pillar widths and support conditions were experimented, where crack initiating pressures, maximum pressures, failure modes of pillar and deformation behaviors around tunnels were investigated. The models with wider pillar were cracked under higher pressure than the models with shallower pillar. The models with lining support were cracked under higher pressure and showed less tunnel convergence than the unsupported models. The models with both lining and pillar reinforcement were proved to be most stable among the tested models. In particular, as the model of 0.25D pillar width with only lining support showed shear failure of pillar according to the existing bedding planes, so both lining and pillar reinforcement were thought to be indispensable in that case of tunnel.
One of the most important requirements for reinforced concrete constructions is the bond behavior between concrete and reinforcement. For practical application, it is very important to study bond behavior of reinforcing bars in recycled aggregate concrete (RAC). Thirty six pull-out tests were carried out in order to investigate the bond behaviour between recycled coarse aggregate concrete (RCAC) and deformed bars. RCA replacement ratios (i.e., 0%, 30%, 60% and 100%) and positions of deformed bar (i.e., vertical and horizontal position) were considered as variables in this paper. Each specimen was in the form of a cube, with edges of 150 mm in length and for the pull-out tests, a deformed bar, 13 mm in diameter, was embedded in the center of each specimen. Based on the test results, the bond strength between the RCAC and deformed bars were influenced by both RCA replacement ratios and positions of deformed bars. It was found that under the equivalent mix proportion (i.e., the mix proportions are the same, except for different RCA replacement ratios), the bond strength between the RCAC and the ribbed bar has no obvious relation with the RCA replacement ratio, whereas the positions of deformed bars have a significant effect on the bond behavior between the RCAC and deformed bars. Under the condition of same RCA replacement ratio, the specimen of horizontal reinforcement at upper position (HU type) appear considerably low bond stress.

In this Research, in order to improve problems of not enough technical validation and structural and hydraulic stability evaluation when nature-friendly revetment block is applied to field, hydraulic stability evaluation according to hydraulic behavior change of porosity soil block for vegetation reinforcement that secures ecological function was reviewed. By selecting object section, numerical analysis and hydraulic model experiments were performed; for numerical analysis, by using 1-dimensional numerical analysis model HEC-RAS and 2-dimensional numerical analysis RMA-2, one-dimensional(1D) and two-dimensional(2D) numerical analysis were performed; by applying Froude's similarity law, reduced-scale hydraulic model experiments according to vegetation existence were performed. In hydraulic model experiment, for validity of experiment result, the result of velocity and tractive force of reduced-scale hydraulic model experiments was converted to prototype so that it can be compared and reviewed under the same condition of one-dimensional(1D) and two-dimensional(2D) numerical analysis result; as a result, it was confirmed that comparatively united result appeared, and by comparing prototype-converted tractive force result with revetment's allowable tractive force coming from an existing research, block's hydraulic stability was suggested.

There has been an increasing number of studies on photovoltaic energy generation system in an offshore site with the largest energy generation efficiency, as increasing the researches and developments of renewable energies for use of offshore space and resources to replace existing fossil fuels and resolve environmental challenges. For installation and operation of floating photovoltaic systems in an offshore site with harsher environmental conditions, a stiffness of structural members comprising the total system must be reinforced to inland water spaces as dams, reservoirs etc., which have relatively weak condition. However, there are various limitations for the reinforcement of structural stiffness of the system, including producible size, total mass of the system, economic efficiency, etc. Thus, in this study, a floating breakwater is considered for reducing wave loads on the system and minimizing the reinforcement of the structural members. Wave reduction performances of floating breakwaters are evaluated, considering size and distance to the system. The wave loads on the system are evaluated using the higher-order boundary element method (HOBEM), considering the multi-body effect of buoys. Stresses on structural members are assessed by coupled analyses using the finite element method (FEM), considering the wave loads and hydrodynamic characteristics. As the maximum stresses on each of the cases are reviewed and compared, the effect of floating breakwater for floating photovoltaic system is checked, and it is confirmed that the size of breakwater has a significant effect on structural responses of the system.

Modern and contemporary cultural assets are defined as a collective term for tangible historical and cultural assets produced in the modern and contemporary period (around the opening of Joseon to the present) in Korea. Among them, rickshaws have been used as a major means of transportation for about 40 years since the opening of the ports in Joseon. The repair process for rickshaws divides the rickshaw into three parts, namely the body, the cover, and the wheels, applying a plaster treatment process by referring to the outcomes of the condition assessment and material analysis for the metal, wood, fiber, and paint used. Overall, the repair process is carried out through dry/wet cleaning, joining, stabilization, reinforcement of damaged parts, and other restoration treatments, which reveal metal decorations and patterns on the scaffolding (flowers, arabesque patterns, etc.) that were previously not observable with the naked eye, while also adding to the stability of the artifact. In addition, props were produced to ensure the artifact's safe exhibition.

The novel cut-and-cover tunnel construction method using rib-reinforced pre-cast arch segments has been recently developed and applied for practice to secure a structural stability of high covering and wide width section tunnels. Cut-and-cover tunnels are usually damaged by the seismic behavior of backfill grounds in case of a low covering condition. Seismic analyses are performed in this study to characterize the dynamic behavior of rib-reinforced pre-cast arch cut-and-cover tunnels. Seismic analyzes for 2 lane cast-in-place and rib-reinforced pre-cast arch cut-and-cover tunnels are carried out by using the commercial FDM program (FLAC2D) considering various field conditions such as the covering height embankment slope and excavation slope. It can be concluded that the amplification of seismic wave is reduced due to an increase in the structural stiffness induced by rib-reinforcement. The results show that the rib-reinforced pre-cast arch cut-and-cover tunnels are more effective against the seismic loading, compared to the cast-in-place cut-and-cover tunnels.
In the recent downtown works, there are frequent cases where the work on existing piles is impossible due to the influence from lack of space and surrounding environment. In such cases, there has been growing cases of using the micropile method that is available to work with the small equipment and asserts the bearing capacity of the existing piles. The micropile method is a type of drilled shaft with the diameter of a pile to be around 75 mm~300 mm that, even for a case where it has certain surrounding structure, foundation and spatial obstacle, there is almost no work difficulty and the work is feasible under all types of soil conditions. In addition, the work can be done in places where the ceiling of the building is low with less vibration and noise in the work process that such method is significantly used for foundation reinforcement of existing buildings. With respect to the motion characteristics that are changed depending on the foundational characteristics or when the micropile is applied with compression or tensile force, there is very few studies conducted. Therefore, under this study, through the data analysis of the field loading test regarding the micropile worked in the fields, it clarifies the settlement and characteristics of bearing capacity following the embedded condition of the ingredients and piles that consist the foundation if the compression and tensile force are applied to the micropile, and by facilitating the statistical analysis program, SAS, to carry out the analysis on the main elements influencing on settlement of the micropile and bearing capacity.
It has been reported that plasma membrane activity of the spermatozoa may be susceptible to be influenced by extracellular osmolality and such membranous changes involve infracellular molecular changes, special regard to the structure of membranous lipids, and the accompanying ion-channel of which are closely related with their fluidity of $Ca^{2+}$ and HCO$^{-}_{3}$. It is of common recognition that a certain kind of sterol acceptor player an important to induce lipid fluctuation of the sperm plasma membrane which have been influenced by BSA administration and came in effect to outflow of cholesterol from the spermatozoa and resulted in changes of ionic fluidity to facilitate adenylyl cyclase, and to induce protein tyrosine phosphorylation by increase of cAMP and activation of PKA. Thus it seems likely that an augmentation of the acrosomal reaction is closely related with protein tyrosine phosphorylation. The following experimental results were obtained in the present study; Under the high osmolality conditions, the spermatozoa motility declined significantly and the structural change of the plasma membrane diminished to confirm that the response degrees to the osmolality depended upon the water transfer volume through the plasma membrane and the changes of cellular volume. Those experimental results suggest that a physiological parameter such as low temperature condition played an important role for presentation of spermatozoa and that inducement of spermatozoa activation for reinforcement of protein tyrosine phosphorylation. On the other hand, it seemed likely that the BSA administration as one of sterol accepters might represent a key role also under the high osmolality condition and their result also suggests that osmolality change, special regard to high osmolality condition may play an important role also in the processes of signal transmission.

The PHC pile has been increasingly used due to its implementation of the top-base method, which is advantageous in high penetration rate and bearing capacity reinforcement. Typically, when a PHC pile is manufactured, high-strength mixed materials are mainly used to enhance the compressive strength. However, recent studies have been conducted to utilize ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) in terms of economic efficiency. For this reason, this study manufactured PHC pile considering the replacement ratio and curing conditions of GGBS instead of high-strength mixed materials, and further investigated the engineering properties of the PHC pile. According to the experimental results, the compressive strength of GGBS-replaced PHC pile increased by steam curing, and particularly, PHC pile with 20% replacement of GGBS under $80^{\circ}C$ steam curing condition showed a compressive strength of approximately 84MPa. Furthermore, the experimental results confirmed that more hydration products were generated under the $80^{\circ}C$ steam curing condition than that under the $20^{\circ}C$ steam curing condition, which would affect the higher density of the PHC pile as well as the increase in the compressive strength.
