남해 제주분지 해역의 퇴적환경 및 지질구조 예비 해석 (PRELIMINARY INTERPRETATION OF DEPOSITIONAL ENVIRONMENT AND GEOLOGICAL STRUCTURE OF THE JEJU BASIN IN THE SOUTH SEA OF KOREA)

  • 남해 제주분지 해역의 퇴적층서 발달 양상과 지질구조를 밝히기 위하여 1,980 line-km의 54 채널 탄성파 자료를 취득하였다 연구지역의 퇴적분지는 제 3기 후열도 분지인 동중국해 북동 해역에 위치하고 있으며 열개작용에 의해 지구 또는 반지구 구조를 형성하였다 연구지역내 퇴적층의 구조는 열개분지내에 쌓인 열개 이전과 열개와 동시에 쌓인 퇴적층 그리고 광역 부정합면을 경계로 후열개 퇴적층으로 크게 구분된다 이 개의 퇴적층은 하부에서 상부로 가면서 열개 이전에 쌓인 올리고세 층서 열개와 동시에 쌓인 초기 및 중기 마이오세 층서로 구성된다 반면에 후열개 퇴적층은 후기 마이오세와 플라이오세 플라이스토세 층서로 구성된다 제주분지 주변의 탄성파 및 시추자료에 의하면 올리고세 마이오세 퇴적층은 충적층 또는 호수 환경에서 퇴적되었음을 보여준다 후기 마이오세에 일어 난 역전의 지구조 활동 및 이에 연관된 상부층의 침식작용 이후 제주분지는 플라이오세에 분지가 침강하기 시작하였으며 결과적으로 천해 해양 환경하에서 퇴적층을 형성하게 되었다.

멕시코만 Main Pass 해역의 중생대-신생대 퇴적층의 탄성파층서 (Seismic Stratigraphy of the post-Paleozoic Sedimentary Section in the Main Pass area, Northern Gulf of Mexico)

  • 미국 멕시코만 Main Pass해역의 심부 다중탄성파단면도를 해석하여 이 지역의 층서와 퇴적사에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 탄성파단면을 이용한 구조해석을 통하여 기반암과 과거의 대륙붕단 위치에 대한 새로운 정보를 밝힐 수 있었다. 기반암은 미시시피 대륙붕의 탄성파 측선 LSU-1 북단에서 $7.5{\cal}Km$ 깊이에 존재함이 밝혀졌다. 또한, 쥬라기 -백악기 초기에는 대륙붕단이 거의 같은 지점에 위치하였으나 신생대 올리고세에는 그보다 약 28 Km 대륙쪽에 위치함이 밝혀졌다. 중생대-신생대 퇴적층은 10개의 탄성파층서단위 (seismic stratigraphic sequence) 로 구분되며 , 멕시코만 주변의 다른 해역과 비교해볼 때 주된 광역부정합면은 중기 마이오세 (10.5 Ma), 중기올리고세 (30 Ma), 중기 백악기 (97 Ma) 와 쥬라기말 (131 Ma)에 형성되었음을 알 수 있다 연구해역은 퇴적사로 볼 때 3개의 현저한 시기로 나눌 수 있는바; (1)멕시코만 열림 -중기 백악기 사이의 천해퇴적 환경; (2)중기 백악기 -중기 올리고세 사이의 심해퇴적환경; (3)중기 을리고세 이후의 천해퇴적환경으로 구분된다. 멕시코만 북부해역에 위 치하는 Main Pdss해역과 동북부 해역에 위치하는 Destin Dome 지역에서 시추된 시추자료와 탄성파자료를 종합하여 해석한 결과 멕시코만 북부 퇴적분지가 후기백악기부터 육성기원의 쐐기 (wedge)형태로 발달되기 시작하였음을 알 수 있다.

2001년 봄철 황사기간 중 서해안지역에서 관측한 대기 중 수은의 환경유동특성 연구 (Environmental Mobilization Characteristics of Total Gaseous Mercury in the Western Coast of Korea During the Yellow Sand Period, 2001)

  • 2001년 3월말 기간을 중심으로 강화도 하리지점에서 대기 중 수은의 토양-대기간 교환율의 측정을 시도하였다. 본 연구에서 수은의 농도구배를 측정하고 이를 미기상학적 인자와 결합하는 방식으로 수은의 플럭스값을 산축하였다. 본 연구의 결과에 따르면, 강화지역의 수은 농도는 일반적으로 도심환경에서 발견되는 수준보다는 현저하게 낮은 수준인 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 그러나 측정된 플럭스값은 200ng/m$^2$/h에 근접하여 일반적으로 청정한 환경에서 발견되는 수준을 훨씬 초과하는 것으로 나타났다. 연구기간 동안 관측된 주요 환경변수들의 분포경향을 비교해 보면, NOx와 PM등을 포함하는 대부분의 변수들은 배출시의 농도가 침적시의 농도에 비해 높게 나타났다. 반면 기상학적 요인들은 이러한 경향성이 고온 또는 저습도에서 뚜렷하게 확인되었다. 상관분석의 결과에 따르면, 배출시에 대부분의 오염인자들이 수은과 강한 양의 상관성을 보여주었지만, 침적시에는 그러한 경향이 역전되는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 흥미로운 사실은 침적시에 수은관련 변수들은 미세입자와 어느 정도 연계성을 띠는 것을 확인시켜 주었다.

RF 마그네트론 스퍼터링 방법을 사용해 증착된 Al이 도핑 된 ZnO 박막의 H2/(Ar + H2) 가스 비율에 따른 특성 (The properties of Al-doped ZnO films deposited with RF magnetron sputtering system in various H2/(Ar + H2) gas ratios)

  • $Al_2O_3$ 2 wt%가 도핑 된 ZnO(AZO) 타겟으로RF 스퍼터링 장비를 사용하여 $H_2/(Ar+H_2)$ 가스 비율에 따른 AZO 박막을 증착 후, 이들 박막의 특성을 조사하였다. AZO 박막은 $200^{\circ}C$, $2{\times}10^{-2}$ 공정조건에서 $H_2/(Ar+H_2)$ 가스 비율을 변화시키면서 증착하였다. AZO박막증착 중 수소가스의 첨가는 박막의 특성에 영향을 미쳤다. $H_2/(Ar+H_2)$ 가스 비율이 2.5 %일 때 비 저항(${\sim}9.21{\times}10^{-4}\;{\Omega}cm$)과 전자 이동도(${\sim}17.8\;cm^2/Vs$)는 각각 최소값과 최대값을 나타내었다. $H_2/(Ar+H_2)$ 가스 비율이 2.5 % 이상일 때는 $H_2/(Ar+H_2)$ 가스 비율이 증가할수록 비저항은 점차로 증가하였고 전자 이동도는 점차적으로 감소하였다. 전자 운반자 농도는 $H_2/(Ar+H_2)$ 가스 비율이 증가함에 따라 0 %에서 7.5 %까지 점차로 증가하였다. $H_2/(Ar+H_2)$ 가스 비율에 따라 증착된 박막의 가시광선 파장 범위에서 평균 광 투과도는 90 % 이상이었고 성장방향은 [002]이었다.

한국의 지역개발과 댐건설 (Regional Development And Dam Construction in Korea)

  • Because of differences in thoughts and ideology, our country, Korea has been deprived of national unity for some thirty years of time and tide. To achieve peaceful unification, the cultivation of national strength is of paramount importance. This national strength is also essential if Korea is to take rightful place in the international societies and to have the confidence of these societies. However, national strength can never be achieved in a short time. The fundamental elements in economic development that are directly conducive to the cultivation of national strength can be said to lie in -a stable political system, -exertion of powerful leadership, -cultivation of a spirit of diligence, self-help and cooperation, -modernization of human brain power, and -establishment of a scientific and well planned economic policy and strong enforcement of this policy. Our country, Korea, has attained brilliant economic development in the past 15 years under the strong leadership of president Park Chung Hee. However, there are still many problems to be solved. A few of them are: -housing and home problems, -increasing demand for employment, -increasing demand for staple food and -the need to improve international balance of payment. Solution of the above mentioned problems requires step by step scientific development of each sector and region of our contry. As a spearhead project in regional development, the Saemaul Campaign or new village movement can be cited. The campaign is now spreading throughout the country like a grass fire. However, such campaigns need considerable encouragement and support and the means for the desired development must be provided if the regional and sectoral development program is to sucdceed. The construction of large multipurpose dams in major river basin plays significant role in all aspects of national, regional and sectoral development. It ensures that the water resource, for which there is no substitute, is retained and utilized for irrigation of agricultural areas, production of power for industry, provision of water for domestic and industrial uses and control of river water. Water is the very essence of life and we must conserve and utilize what we have for the betterment of our peoples and their heir. The regional and social impact of construction of a large dam is enormous. It is intended to, and does, dras tically improve the "without-project" socio-economic conditions. A good example of this is the Soyanggang multipurpose dam. This project will significantly contribute to our national strength by utilizing the stored water for the benefit of human life and relief of flood and drought damages. Annual average precipitation in Korea is 1160mm, a comparatively abundant amount. The catchment areas of the Han River, Keum River, and Youngsan River are $62,755\textrm{km}^2$, accounting for 64% of the national total. Approximately 62% of the national population inhabits in this area, and 67% of the national gross product comes from the area. The annual population growth rate of the country is currently estimated at 1.7%, and every year the population growth in urban area increases at a rising rate. The population of Seoul, Pusan, and Taegu, the three major cities in Korea, is equal to one third of our national total. According to the census conducted on October 1, 1975, the population in the urban areas has increased by 384,000, whereas that in rural areas has decreased by 59,000,000 in the past five years. The composition of population between urban and rural areas varied from 41%~59% in 1959 to 48%~52% in 1975. To mitigate this treand towards concentration of population in urban areas, employment opportunities must be provided in regional and rural areas. However, heavy and chemical industries, which mitigate production and employment problems at the same time, must have abundant water and energy. Also increase in staple food production cannot be attained without water. At this point in time, when water demand is rapidly growing, it is essential for the country to provide as much a reservoir capacity as possible to capture the monsoon rainfall, which concentarated in the rainy seaon from June to Septesmber, and conserve the water for year round use. The floods, which at one time we called "the devil" have now become a source of immense benefit to Korea. Let me explain the topographic condition in Korea. In northern and eastern areas we have high mountains and rugged country. Our rivers originate in these mountains and flow in a general southerly or westerly direction throught ancient plains. These plains were formed by progressive deposition of sediments from the mountains and provide our country with large areas of fertile land, emminently suited to settlement and irrigated agricultural development. It is, therefore, quite natural that these areas should become the polar point for our regional development program. Hower, we are fortunate in that we have an additional area or areas, which can be used for agricultural production and settlement of our peoples, particularly those peoples who may be displaced by the formation of our reservoirs. I am speaking of the tidelands along the western and southern coasts. The other day the Ministry of Agriculture and Fishery informed the public of a tideland reclamation of which 400,000 hectares will be used for growing rice as part of our national food self-sufficiency programme. Now, again, we arrive at the need for water, as without it we cannot realize this ambitious programme. And again we need those dams to provide it. As I mentioned before, dams not only provide us with essential water for agriculture, domestic and industrial use, but provide us with electrical energy, as it is generally extremely economical to use the water being release for the former purposes to drive turbines and generators. At the present time we have 13 hydro-electric power plants with an installed capacity of 711,000 kilowatts equal to 16% of our national total. There are about 110 potential dams ites in the country, which could yield about 2,300,000 kilowatts of hydro-electric power. There are about 54 sites suitable for pumped storage which could produce a further 38,600,000 kilowatts of power. All available if we carefully develop our water resources. To summarize, water resource development is essential to the regional development program and the welfare of our people, it must proceed hand-in-hand with other aspects of regional development such as land impovement, high way extension, development of our forests, erosion control, and develop ment of heavy and chemical industries. Through the successful implementation of such an integrated regional development program, we can look forward to a period of national strength, and due recognition of our country by the worlds societies.

대기 중 수은의 지역적 분포특성에 대한 비교연구-한반도의 도심과 산악지역을 중심으로 (Regional Distribution Characteristics of Total Gaseous Mercury in Air-Measurements from Urban and Mountainous Sites in Korea)

  • The spatial distribution characteristics of airborbe mercury(Hg) were investigated used its concentration data from six measurement sites selected to represent:(1) three terminal sites with heavy traffic loads in urban area, (2) one urban residential site and (3) two mountainous sites in Korea. The measurement data obtained during September 1997 through May 1998 indicated that the mean concentration of Hg from different study sites were comparably high with the mean values spanning from 5-9ng./㎥. The concentration from all those sites were systmatically high compared to those of most background sites around world or to other Korean sites investigaed previously. When results of correlation analysis between Hg and relevant parameters were compared among different study sites. temperature was most frequently found out to be in strong correlation with Hg concentrations. Results of factor analysis also indicated that Hg concentrations could be affected simultaneously by th factors affecting such parameters as ozone, temperature, ozone, carbon monoxide, and PM. The findings of enhanced Hg levels from Ji-Ri Mountain relative to terminal site suggest that is distributions may be rather homogeneous not enough to clearly distinguish areal differences and the associated source signatures between urban and rural area. The existence of systmatically high concentrations from all investigated sites also indicate that the impact of its source processes should be quite ubiquitous, while highly variable in relatively long term scale.

지역별 소나무잎과 토양에 침착된 PCBs 농도 비교 (Comparison of Regional Differences of PCBs Concentration Using Pine Needles and Soil)

  • This study was conducted to measure the concentration of PCBs in pine needles and soil in urban (Seoul, many artificial sources of PCBs), semi-rural (Anseong, small town located below Seoul in wind direction) and rural areas (Jincheon, rarely artificial sources of PCBs) in which the artificial production amount of PCBs are different. The total PCBs concentrations in pine needles, which did not show big difference in three sampling sites, were 107.5 pg/g (urban), 94.8 pg/g (semi-rural) and 78.8 pg/g (rural) respectively. The low chlorinated PCBs were major component in pine needles and the PCBs congener concentration profile of each sampling area were similar each other, and the octanol-air partitioning coefficient, Koa, highly correlated with the PCBs concentrations in pine needles. The total PCBs concentrations in soil which did show big difference in three sampling sites, were 830.0 pg/g (urban), 314.1 pg/g (semi-rural) and 136.5 pg/g (rural) respectively. The high chlorinated PCBs were major component in soil and the PCBs congener concentration profile of each sampling area were similar each other. There was no similarity between the PCBs concentration of pine needles and those of soil at each site, because of the different mechanism of deposition and volatilization processes of PCBs. The total PCBs concentrations of 2009 became 12.9 times lower than those of 2001. The reduce rate of PCB 28 was the greatest.

  • Organic light entitling diode panel was fabricated using pulsed laser deposition (PLD) method Nd-YAG laser with Q-Switched and 355 nm pulse was used for the PLD. While TPD(N,N'-Di-[naphthaleny]-N, N'-diphenyl-benzidine) was used as a HTL(Hole transport layer), $Alq_3$(8-Hydroxyquinoline, Aluminum Salt) was used as EML/ETL(Emitting Layer/Electron Transport Layer) Organic pellet was fabricated and employed for the PLD method. The absorbances of the organic films were investigated and the measured absorbance values of TPD and $Alq_3$ films was 362 nm and 399 nm, respectively. The turn-on voltage of the OLED panel was 7.5 V and its luminance was $90\;cd/m^2$

한반도 서해안 배경관측점을 중심으로 한 대기 중 메탄의 배출과 침적 (The Soil-air Exchange Characteristics of Methane in a Western Coastal Area of Korea during Spring 2002)

  • The soil -air exchange processes of CH$_4$ were investigated in Hari district of Kang Hwa Island, Korea during the late April 2002. In the course of our field experiments, we measured the concentration, concentration gradients (between two different heights of 1 and 5 m), and the fluxes of CH$_4$ using the surface layer gradient microm-eteorological methods. If the relationships between CH$_4$ fluxes and the relevant environmental parameters are examined, CH$_4$ fluxes were found to be affected most significantly by parameters like wind speed. The results of our study indicate that the study area behaved as a net source of CH$_4$ to the atmosphere with a net daily emission rate of 3.6 mg m ̄$^2$ The findings of relatively low exchange rate observed at our study site suggest that the rice paddy area investigated prior to planting period can behave as a moderate source of methane.

  • By thermal evaporation method, well-aligned ZnO nanowires were synthesized on sapphire substrate at $1000^{\circ}C$ with different oxygen flow rate by using pure ZnO powder (99.999 %). The as-synthesized ZnO nanowires were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The well-aligned nanowires are single crystalline in nature and perpendicularly grown along the c-axis. Also the growth rate of nanowires, such as diameter and length, had a tendency to increase as oxygen flow rate increased. Based on the PL measurement of ZnO nanowires, we found that the near band edge of emission redshifted with the increasing intensity of the defect-related green emission in proportion to the increase of oxygen flow rate.
