Several methods have been proposed to mitigate the market power in foreign electricity markets. In this paper, Hirfindahl-Hirschman Index(HHI) and supply margin assessment(SMA) are compared based upon the Korean future markets. The results show that SMA is better than HHI to estimate market power because it can reflect congestion and capacity reserve effectively.

A framework for reliability analysis of structural components and systems under conditions of statistical and model uncertainty is presented. The Bayesian parameter estimation method is used to derive the posterior distribution of model parameters reflecting epistemic uncertainties. Point, predictive and bound estimates of reliability accounting for parameter uncertainties are derived. The bounds estimates explicitly reflect the effect of epistemic uncertainties on the reliability measure. These developments are enhance-ments of second-moment uncertainty analysis methods developed by A. H-S. Ang and others three decades ago.

In speech recognition technology, the utterance of every talker have special resonant frequency according to shape of talker's lip and to the motion of tongue. And utterances are different according to each talker. Accordingly, we need the superior moth-od of speech feature parameter extraction which reflect talker's characteristic well. This paper suggests the modified-MfCC combined existing MFCC with gammatone filter. We experimented with speech data from telephone and then we obtained results of enhanced speech recognition rate which is higher than that of the other methods.

Recently, in Korea vehicle market, the proportion of SUV is increasing. However Korea SINCAP(Side Impact New Car Assessment Program) doesn't reflect this circumstance. This paper focused on improvement of Korea SINCAP by comparing IIHS(Insurance Institute of Highway Safety) side impact test protocol with Korea SINCAP.

In this paper we suggest the adaptive QoS-based VOD system design, which can diagnose and reflect the variable network situation. This system is based on the changeable Forward Error Correction(FEC) coding and re-transmission to enhance system quality by using the measured real-time network value such as loss, delay and jitter.

Neural networks have been known to have great discriminative power in pattern classification problems. In this paper, the multilayer perceptron neural networks are employed to automatically detect laryngeal pathology in speech. Also new feature parameters are introduced which can reflect the periodicity of speech and its perturbation. These parameters and cepstral coefficients are used as input of the multilayer perceptron neural networks. According to the experiment using Korean disordered speech database, incorporation of new parameters with cepstral coefficients outperforms the case with only cepstral coefficients.

This study examines the Symbolic notions of Haein Buddhist Monastery based on the context of Feng-shui. Through the study, it is verified that the geographical features surrounding the Haein Buddhist Monastery are imbued with the basic layout of the monastery and the constitutional elements of the Haein Buddhist Monastery are structured and formed with the architecture and landscape of the monastery. Thus, the study maintains that the siting and the arrangement of the Haein Buddhist Monastery reflect the context of Feng-shui.

Associations, as specific forms of knowledge, reflect relationships among items in databases, and have been widely studied in the fields of knowledge discovery and data mining. Recent years have witnessed many efforts on discovering fuzzy associations, aimed at coping with fuzziness in knowledge representation and decision support processes. This paper focuses on associations of three kinds, namely, association rules, functional dependencies and pattern associations, and overviews major fuzzy logic extensions accordingly.

During the initial design phases for prestressed concrete structures, the mecessary information concerning the physical properties of the hardened concrete such as creep, drying shrinkage, modulus of elasticity, and Poisson's ratio are obtained from design assumptions or accepted standards. But these assumptions may not totally reflect the actual long-term behavior of the concrete. So they may be of limited use in predicting the actual behavior. The purpose of this paper is to describe the test procedures and methods of evaluation which were used during the long-term study.

In this paper, lower and upper possibility distributions are identified to reflect two extreme opinions in portfolio selection problems based on upper and lower possibility distributions are formalized as quadratic programming problems. Portfolios for compromising two extreme opinions from upper and lower possibility distributions and balancing the opinions of a group of experts can be obtained by quadratic optimization problems, respectively.
