  • This paper presents an achieving method of reducing maximum acceleration for the missile by decrease of burst pressure in a nozzle closure. The relation of notch shape and burst pressure for a nozzle closure is examined by experiment. In the point of maximum acceleration reduction for a missile, an improved nozzle closure effects well compared with that of a reference closure by ground burning test of a gas generator.

  • In this paper, we proposed an adaptive ATC(Automatic Threshold Control) circuit with more decreased settling time by improving the structure of the peak detector. We showed that it could reduce a good deal of the settling time because it showed less than half the error voltage ratio that the ATC circuit with conventional structure showed in analysis. We also designed a burst-mode ATC circuit for the 1.25Gbps EPON system using a commercial foundry. It produced the reference levels in very short time, 6㎱ in 40 ㏈ input dynamic range.

  • Conventioally the decoding methods and the design of coset codes for burst synchronization and error detection have been based on the concept that slips occuring to the right or to the left with respect to a reference timing are corrected. In this paper we newly approach to the design of coset codes relying on the condition that only a single code word can exists in an observation interval, which provides an extentended view on the conventional approach. A theorem concerning the condition is presented. A combined burst synchronization and error detection system with maximum slip correction capability have been devised based on the theorem and a detection method is falsely accepted in the presented of channel errors. The false acceptance probabilities of the system are derived and its performance is analyzed through computer computation using the derived results.

  • This paper addresses the problem of model matching control for a class of systems modeled as input/output asynchronous sequential machines. Based on the feedback control scheme, we design a corrective controller that compensates the behavior of the closed-loop system so as to match a reference model. Whereas the former studies use state observers and the output burst for designing a controller, the present research needs neither the observer nor the output burst in controller design. We define the 'output equivalent machine' of the considered machine to describe the existence condition and the construction algorithm for the proposed controller. A case study is provided to show the operation of the proposed corrective controller.

  • As data rate was increased, the conventional burst-mode automatic power control circuit caused errors due to the effort of the mark density variation. To solve this problem we invented a new structured peak-comparator which could eliminate the effect of the mark density variation even in high date rate, and revised the conventional one using it. We proposed a burst-mode automatic power control circuit robust to mark density variations. We found that the peak-comparator in the proposed automatic power control circuit was very robust to mark density variations because it affected very little by the mark density variation in high date rate and in the wide variation range of the reference current and the difference current.

  • In spite of many advantages of Meteor Burst Communications(MBC) on its transmission channel, the fact that its duty rate is less than10 percents is a considerable deficiency of MBC. To overcome with this deficiency without paying large cost, we use a direct sequence(DS)-spread spectrum(SS) method applying a reference code to improve the duty rate on the transmission channel. This method doesn't need to add the components for acquisition or tracking the signal so that it keeps the cost efficiency the MBC has as well as improves the duty rate on the transmission channel. The improvement by this method is more significant when the received signal is weak. Simulation results show that if we increases the process gain (Gp) by 10 dB when the average burst length is 50ms, the burst length tends to be extended more than 220% of its average length, 160ms, and the frequency of generating this phenomenon increases 3.1 times more.

  • The study of the mining effect influenced by a normal fault has great significance concerning the prediction and prevention of fault rock burst. According to the occurrence condition of a normal fault, the stress evolution of the working face and fault plane, the movement characteristics of overlying strata, and the law of fault slipping when the working face advances from footwall to hanging wall are studied utilizing UDEC numerical simulation. Then the inducing-mechanism of fault rock burst is revealed. Results show that in pre-mining, the in situ stress distribution of two fault walls in the fault-affected zone is notably different. When the working face mines in the footwall, the abutment stress distributes in a "double peak" pattern. The ratio of shear stress to normal stress and the fault slipping have the obvious spatial and temporal characteristics because they vary gradually from the higher layer to the lower one orderly. The variation of roof subsidence is in S-shape which includes slow deformation, violent slipping, deformation induced by the hanging wall strata rotation, and movement stability. The simulation results are verified via several engineering cases of fault rock burst. Moreover, it can provide a reference for prevention and control of rock burst in a fault-affected zone under similar conditions.

  • A clock system is proposed to eliminate data loss due to frequency difference between sensor nodes in a sensor utility network. The proposed clock system for each sensor node consists of a bust clock-data recovery (CDR) circuit, a digital phase-locked loop outputting a 32-phase clock, and a digital frequency synthesizer using a programmable open-loop fractional divider. A CMOS oscillator using an active inductor is used instead of a burst CDR circuit for the first sensor node. The proposed clock system is designed by using a 65 nm CMOS process with a 1.2 V supply voltage. When the frequency error between the sensor nodes is 1%, the proposed burst CDR has a time jitter of only 4.95 ns with a frequency multiplied by 64 for a data rate of 5 Mbps as the reference clock. Furthermore, the frequency change of the designed digital frequency synthesizer is performed within one period of the output clock in the frequency range of 100 kHz to 320 MHz.

  • The structural and leakage integrity of steam generator tubes should be sustained all postulated loads with appropriate margin even if a crack is present. During the past three decades, for effective integrity evaluation, several limit load solutions have been used world-widely. However, to predict accurately load carrying capacities of specific components under different conditions, the solutions have to be modified by using lots of experimental data. The purpose of this paper is to propose a new burst pressure estimation scheme based on fracture mechanics analyses for steam generator tube with an axial or circumferential through-wall crack. A series of three dimensional elastic-plastic finite element analyses were carried out and, then, closed-form estimation equations with respect to both J-integral and crack opening displacement were derived through reference stress method. The developed engineering equations were utilized for structural integrity evaluation and the resulting data were compared to the corresponding ones fiom experiments as well as limit load solutions. Thereafter, since the effectiveness was proven by promising results, it is believed that the proposed estimation scheme can be used as an efficient tool for integrity evaluation of cracked steam generator tubes.

  • Background IgG-mediated anaphylaxis occurs after infusion of certain monoclonal antibody-based therapeutics. New in vitro tests are urgently needed to diagnose such reactions. We investigated whether allergens trigger neutrophil oxidative burst (OB) and if neutrophil OB occurs due to allergen-specific IgG (sIgG). Methods Neutrophil OB was measured by dihydrorhodamine 123 flow cytometry using a leukocyte suspension spiked with a very small patch of the allergen crude extract, Dermatophagoides farinae (Der f). The mean fluorescence intensity ratio of stimulated to unstimulated samples was calculated as the neutrophil oxidative index (NOI). Results The Der f-specific NOI (Der f-sNOI) showed a time-dependent increase after Der f extract addition. At 15 min activation, higher Der f-sIgG levels were associated with lower Der f-sNOI values in 31 subjects (P<0.05). This inverse relationship occurs due to the initial blocking effect of free Der f-sIgG. Additionally, neutrophil OB was nearly absent (Der f-sNOI of -1) in two cases: a subject with undetectable Der f-sIgG levels and washed leukocyte suspensions deprived of Der f-sIgG. Conclusion Allergens can trigger neutrophil OB via preexisting allergen-sIgG. Neutrophil OB can be easily measured in a leukocyte suspension spiked with the allergen. This assay can be used to diagnose IgG-mediated anaphylaxis.
