  • In this research, based on the condition of using desulfurization gypsum(FGD) as a stimulator for high-volume blast furnace slag cement mortar, sieving and heating process methods of removing activated carbon in FGD were compared with the non-processed FGD and recycled and natural fine aggregates were compared for suitable aggregate to be used. According to the result of experiment, sieving with 0.3mm was more efficient than $500^{\circ}C$ heating for processing the FGD, and recycled fine aggregate showed more favorable result than natural fine aggregate at the FGD content was 5 to 10%. On the other hand, the mortar mixture including recycled fine aggregate had a high drying shrinkage, and absorption ratio, and thus specific limitations on applying recycled fine aggregate should be required.

  • As the circulating fluidized bed combustor(CFBC) boilers system to generate electric power increase in order to reduce environmental pollution, a lot of CFBC fly ashes(CFFA) are produced. CFFA has limited use in concrete because it contains free CaO, which can cause cement expansion and rapid initial hydration. In this study, the microstructure and the initial development of compressive strength characteristics were experimentally analyzed to be used as a stimulant to replace natural gypsum by mixing with CFFA and phosphate gypsum to enhance the initial strength of portland blast furnace slag cement. The recycled gypsum was used as flue-gas desulfurization gypsum and phosphate gypsum. Experimental results show that the initial strength development is relatively lower when CFFA and dihydrate gypsum are mixed, but the strength improvement effect of the mixture with CFFA and anhydrous gypsum as an anhydritedII typed crystalized gypsum is similar to that of natural gypsum. As a result, it w as analyzed to have high possibility of use for stimulant of portland blast furnace slag cement.

  • Nowadays, all the world face to the global warming problems due to the emission of $CO_2$. From the previous studies, recycled aggregates were used as an alkali activator in blast furnace slag to achieve zero-cement concrete, and favorable results of obtaining strength were achieved. In this study, gypsum and incineration waste ash were used as the additional alkali activation and effects of the gypsum and incineration waste ash to enhance the performance of the mortar were tested. Results showed that although the replacement ratio of 0.5% of incineration waste ash and 20% of anhydrous gypsum resulted in the low of mortar at the early age, while it improved the later strength and achieved the similar strength to that of conventional mortar (at 91 days).

  • In this study, the mechanical properties of PHC pile concrete using alpha-type hemihydrate gypsum were evaluated. As the replacement ratio of alpha-type hemihydrate gypsum increased, the setting time rapidly accelerated. In particular, when replacement ratio exceeded 20 %, the setting time was shortened due to rapid hydration reaction, making it impossible to secure working time. As the replacement ratio of alpha-type hemihydrate gypsum increased, the ettringite and gypsum peaks tended to increase, and it is believed that the shrinkage of concrete decreased due to the increase in the ettringite peak. At a As the replacement ratio of 5 to 15 % for alpha-type hemihydrate gypsum, the compressive strength increased or was found to be equivalent to that of OPC. But at 20 % substitution, workability deteriorated due to rapid setting, so use of the 5 to 15 % range is considered appropriate.

  • The aim of this research is to contribute on investment of less cement mortar or concrete in normal strength range using additional hydration of BS with stimulating effect of FGD and OPC based on the previous research result of the BS and RFA using cement mortar. As a test, the composition for normal strength range of mortar was evaluated with 0, 10, and 20 % of FDA and 0, 20 % of OPC replacement.

  • As a solution of both environmental issue of reducing carbon dioxide emission and sustainable issue of exhausting natural resources, in concrete industry, many research on recycling various by-products or industrial wastes as the concrete materials has been conducted. The aim of this research is feasibility analysis of additional reaction with ordinary Portland cement and flue gas desulfurization gypsum based on the blast furnace slag and recycled fine aggregate based mortar to achieve the normal strength range. Consequently, in the case of mortar replaced 10% FGD and 30% OPC for BS, 80% of plain OPC mortar's compressive strength was achieved. Furthermore, when the water-to-binder ratio is decreased to keep the practically similar level of flow, it is expected to be achieve the equivalent compressive strength to plain OPC mortar.

  • CaO-based by-product, which consist of CaO, SO3, Al2O3 and so on, has being used to raw materials of CaO compound. When It was applied to recycling water of remicon, concrete performance can be enhanced because hydration reaction of powder material is accelerated. In this study, activated-sludge, which was putted desulfurization gypsum of CaO-based in recycling water, was manufactured to verify effect of them, and then they was investigated by characteristics of redy-mixde concrete. As a result of concrete tests, it was confirmed that there is no problem of strength or drying shrinkage while ensuring workability. Therefore, the possibility of specific application using activated sludge was confirmed.
