This paper presents a detailed experimental study on the durability properties of mortar matrix made with two kind of recycled fine aggregates(RAA, RAB) and five replacement levels (0, 25, 40, 75 and 100) of the recycled fine aggregates as a partial replacement of natural fine aggregate (NA). The durability properties of mortar matrix was evaluated using compressive strength, chloride ion ingress, sulfate attack and carbonation. The test results indicated that the water absorption and Adhered mortar of the recycled fine aggregate was a major factor controlling durability properties. Hereafter, when using built recycled fine aggregate is expected, appropriate removal Adhered mortar and reasonable replacement ratio of recycled fine aggregates was 25% weight of cement are advised to apply to the concrete materials.

In this study, we analyzed the problems of existing construction waste shredding technology to diagnose the problems of low quality recycled aggregates and to develop a new mortar peeling technique to produce high-quality recycled coarse aggregate for concrete. The purpose of this study is to verify the effectiveness of mortar peeling technique by doing simulation prior to on-site application and to check the quality properties of recycled coarse aggregate produced by applying a mortar peeling technique. We manufactured and installed High speed Rotating Grinder on-site and analyzed the correlation between mortar adhesion amount, dry density and water absorption rate of recycled coarse aggregate.
Recently, the reuse of coarse aggregate derived from demolished concrete was introduced into practice with two environmental aspects: protection of natural sources of aggregate and recycling of construction waste. However, recycled aggregate has been used for the very limited application such as subbase material for pavement and constructional filling material because it was considered as low quality constructional materials. In the present study, in order to examine the possibility that recycled aggregate can be used for concrete mixing, we conducted various experimental tests to identify mineralogical, chemical and mechanical properties of recycled aggregate and to determine the workability and mechanical properties of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC). The cement paste and mortar contained in recycled aggregate significantly affect the basic mechanical properties of aggregate and the workability and mechanical properties of RAC. However, RCA mixed with the proper replacement ratio of recycled aggregate shows the comparable compressive strength and freeze and thaw resistance to those of normal concrete. Therefore, it is considered that recycled aggregate can be widely used for concrete if the cement paste and mortar can be efficiently removed from recycled aggregate and/or if the effective replacement ratios of recycled aggregate are applied for mixing concrete.

Recently, the broken concrete lumps resulting from the demolition of concrete structures are creshed for reuse as aggregates(i.e. recycled fine and gravel). And also, in the processing of crusing, the recycled powder of an equivalent of between 20% to 30% by wt.% of the broken concrete lumps is generated. The extensive research of recycled concrete aggregates has been carried out in various parts of the world. But less reseatch on the reuse of recycled concrete powder has been carried out. It is the purpose of this report that the study on the quality evaluation of recycled aggregates for recycled concrete. In specially, this report deals with the properties such as flow, compressive strength, bending strength, drying shrinkage and wight loss rate of mortars replaced standard fine aggregate with recycled powders at the rate of 3, 7, 15, 20 and 30 wt.%. Since the characteristics of recycled mortars with the recycled powders were comparable to those of the normal mortar without the recycled powders as described above, its concretes could be found extensive application in such field as concrete products.

In this study, to suggest the application method of recycled fine aggregate, the non-cement mortar was prepared and studied with the binders of blast furnace slag, fly ash, and fly ash from combined heat power plant. As a basic experiment, a series of tests was conducted to determine the potions of the binders and types of activator. When the binder was consisted with 20% of fly ash and 40% of fly ash from combined heat power plant, the highest strength of the mortar was obtained, and as an activator, the combination of sodium hydroxide 2.5%, and calcium hydroxide 7.5% showed the highest strength of the mortar. Therefore, this study focuses on engineering properties of mortar contains fly ash from combined heat power plant and recycled fine aggregate according to replacement ratio of recycled fine aggregate based on the optimum mix from the basic experiment. As a result, the best replacement ratio of recycled fine aggregate is 75%.
Utilization of demolished-concrete as recycled aggregate has been researched for the purpose of substituting for insufficient natural aggregate, saving resources and protecting environment. There, however, are some Problems not only the large difference of dualities in recycled aggregates but also a little deterioration of mechanical properties in recycled aggregate concrete in comparison with that of natural aggregate concrete. In this study, the test results of freez and thaw durability of concrete with demolished-concrete recycled aggregate(DRA) arc as follows. Improvement of crushing process is an important assignment because that adhered mortar on source-concrete recycled aggregate(SRA) and DRA highly affects thc qualifies of recycled aggregate. The compressive strength of recycled aggregate concrete was not highly different in comparison with that of control concrete. But the resistance to penetration of Cl in recycled aggregate concrete was shown smaller than that of control concrete because of adhered mortar on recycled aggregate. The resistance to frcezing and thawing of recycled aggregate concrete was highly different due to adhered mortar on recycled aggregate, and durability factor of concrete with NA-SRA and DRA was more decreased than that of control concrete. On the other hand, durability factor of concrete with AA-SRA was larger than that of control concrete. It, therefore, is necessarily required that recycled aggregate including adequate entrained air should be used for satisfying the freez and thaw durability of recycled aggregate concrete.
The report of an investigation into the performance of mortar specimens made with recycled fine aggregate (RA) exposed to sodium sulfate solution for 360 days is presented in this paper. Mechanical properties of mortar specimens such as visual examination, compressive strength, expansion and mass loss were periodically monitored. From the test results, it was found that mortar specimens with higher replacement levels of Rh exhibited poor performance in sodium sulfate solution. However, compared to mortar specimens without RA, those with lower replacement levels of RA (up to 50% by mass) was more resistant to sulfate attack. Through the x-ray diffraction analysis, it was confirmed that the main products causing sulfate deterioration in RA mortar specimens were the formation of gypsum and thaumasite.

The purpose of this study is the hydration properties of motar using Blast-Furnace Slag(BFS) with water elured from recycled coarse aggregate. The results of the experiment show that the water eluted from recycled coarse aggregate mixed with blast furnace slag has comparatively higher hydration activity than the mortar not mixed with one in early-age mortar causing the calcium hydroxide in the recycled coarse aggregate to work on as a stimulus to the hydration of ground granulated blast furnace slag. BFS mixed with the eluting water the hydration reaction was a promotion.

In this study, Mock-up was manufactured using recycled aggregate concrete and then analyzed with respect to physical properties. Finally, the applicability of recycled aggregates as constructional aggregates was reviewed by practically putting recycled aggregates concrete into construction. Right after mixing, the slump of recycled-aggregates concrete showed decreased slump as time goes by because the surface mortar of recycled aggregates absorbed the mix water with time passing. The air contents of recycled-aggregates concrete overall increase a little due to the effect of surface mortar of the aggregates. For strengths, the strengths of recycled aggregate concrete tended to decrease from the proportion of 30$\%$ to 100$\%$.

This paper reports the results of experimental study on the effect of an amount of mortar attached to the surface of original aggregate on the physical properties of recycled aggregates such as specific gravity, and water absorption. An amount of attached mortar was evaluated by hydrochloric acid precipitation method. Test results indicated that a water absorption of recycled aggregates was proportional to the amount of mortar attached to the original aggregate.
