This paper presents a sensor fusion method to recognize a cylindrical object a CCD camera, a laser slit beam and ultrasonic sensors on a pan/tilt device. For object recognition with a vision sensor, an active light source projects a stripe pattern of light on the object surface. The 2D image data are transformed into 3D data using the geometry between the camera and the laser slit beam. The ultrasonic sensor uses an ultrasonic transducer array mounted in horizontal direction on the pan/tilt device. The time of flight is estimated by finding the maximum correlation between the received ultrasonic pulse and a set of stored templates - also called a matched filter. The distance of flight is calculated by simply multiplying the time of flight by the speed of sound and the maximum amplitude of the filtered signal is used to determine the face angle to the object. To determine the position and the radius of cylindrical objects, we use a statistical sensor fusion. Experimental results show that the fused data increase the reliability for the object recognition.
The Korean pharmacy education has been facing extraordinary challenges. Clinical pharmacy has been embraced into mainstream in the new curriculum since its introduction in Korea. Although these changes are positive to provide our graduates adequate knowledge and skills to meet international standards of pharmacy education, current preparedness is far from desired goals. Thus, faculty members and clinical pharmacy experts from diverse walks are tirelessly committed to develop clinically oriented educational sites. However, it is important to recognize that pharmacy practice, research, and education should be aligned with the $Profession^{\circ}{\Phi}s$ vision. Most faculty members in clinical pharmacy were unexceptionally expected to tackle educational challenges with new curriculum. All academicians must profess throughout their career. Fundamental component in academic career is research accomplishments. The prosperity of clinical pharmacy inevitably goes with research. Clinical researchers in Korea are underprivilaged over basic scientists due to less funding opportunity, administrative support, and research resources. Clinical pharmacy researchers should further overcome poor recognition among other healthcare professionals and government. Aggressive networking and support and awareness of pharmacy oriented clinical research from the Korean college of clinical pharmacy would nurture clinical pharmacy research. With research progress, clinical pharmacy would be prerogative in Korean pharmacy advance.

We propose a moving object extraction and tracking method for improvement of animal identification and tracking technology. First, we propose a method of merging separated moving objects into a moving object by using FCM (Fuzzy C-Means) clustering algorithm to solve the problem of moving object loss caused by moving object extraction process. In addition, we propose a method of extracting data from a moving object and a method of counting moving objects to determine the number of clusters in order to satisfy the conditions for performing FCM clustering algorithm. Then, we propose a method to continuously track merged moving objects. In the proposed method, color histograms are extracted from feature information of each moving object, and the histograms are continuously accumulated so as not to react sensitively to noise or changes, and the average is obtained and stored. Thereafter, when a plurality of moving objects are overlapped and separated, the stored color histogram is compared with each other to correctly recognize each moving object. Finally, we demonstrate the feasibility and applicability of the proposed algorithms through some experiments.

In this study, we implement a natural user interface/experience framework using multi-sensors: Microsoft Kinect, Leap Motion, and Myo Armband. The framework is designed for customers to use in various types of interactive applications. We integrate the functions of three sensors into an application and provide an interface for customers, who can use it to interact with a computer easily. The framework can track body information in real-time, and accurately recognize the motion of different body parts.
Objective : To present an overview of current reports and guidelines of physical activity and exercise intervention for cancer survivors Methods : We searched Pubmed for the related studies such as randomized controlled trials and observational studies, as well as published guidelines or recommendations for exercise intervention. Results : Physical activity and exercise intervention is considered safe and effective for most cancer survivors. According to the guidelines, patients with peripheral neuropathy, musculoskeletal disorder, or those who are at risk of fracture, should undergo proper medical assessment before starting exercise intervention. Also, patients with bone metastasis, thrombocytopenia, symptomatic anemia, or acute infection may fall into one of the contraindications of exercise intervention. Conclusions : Physical activity and exercise intervention may play a major role in improving physical functioning, quality of life, or treatment-related symptoms of cancer survivors. It is necessary to recognize the benefits and precautions of exercise in caring cancer patients.
This study views the shadows cast by the light and a subject provides new interpretations rather than it simply being an additive product. Particularly in fashion photograph, light and shadows are often used as tools to convey meaning. Accordingly, this study aims to classify the utilization of the shadow created by light and deriving its expressive characteristics in fashion photograph. To achieve these research aims, literature and case studies were conducted. The results are as follows. First, the shadows were mainly focused on a subject. Secondly, shadows caused by lighting is casted directly into the inside of the main subject in a frame takes a role of omission or emphasis. Third, shadows caused by a second unseen object outside the frame are utilized with the main subject in the frame. Based on these results above, spatial third dimensionality, optical illusion and accentuation were derived as expressive characteristics of the shadow in fashion photograph. As such, in fashion photograph, shadow is an important element for photographers. The variability of the shadow makes it possible for creative changes as its amount, angle and direction can be altered by adjusting the light in accordance with the intention of the artist. Therefore, its utilization methods will be diversified hereafter. Accordingly, it is required to recognize that shadow may be recreated as an independent object in fashion photograph.
The stepping stone of the study is provided through understanding the transformation of the cultural value with the paradigm shift at the turning point of late 20th century and examining the cultural relationaship between the East and the West. By researching the oriental and occidental culture in terms of the origin formation relation and differences which should be divided into broad branches that is natural ideological formative and spatial aspects and so forth. This paper makes it possible to understand the fundamental differences and relativities between two divergent cultures by way of analyzing the architecture in plastic and cognitive aspects to residential space. this study intends to elucidate common traits of korean traditional architecture and that of the Occident and the discrepancies of their attitudes toward nature and space. In Western civilization they used to consider architecture as a physical organization while the oriental people consider it a object what is so of itself. The former concentrated on the functional rationality of scientific technology with the uncontextual propensity which does not consider natural environment the latter could reach the naturalness more harmonious to environment. What counts in the upcoming age of coexistence of Globalism that emphasizes the worlds universality and Nationalism that sticks to local cultural characteristics is to establish the new value system and identity based upon natural order and organic quality. As a result we could recognize the organic quality as a cosmic order could be a valid means to achieve the globalization of our culture through the compatibility between gap and common ground of both cultural sphere.
The vibration of reactor internals should be monitored and diagnosed for the early detection of the failure of reactor pressure vessel. This can be performed by analyzing the time-history signals from the excore neutron flux detertors. The conventional method is an on-demand system which generates power spectra through Fast Fourier Transform(FFT) algorithm. The operator can make his own decision to detect abnormal vibration using these spectra. This post- processing method, however, requires special expertise in the reactor noise analysis and signal processing for random data. It may mislead the operator into erroneous decision-making, if he is a novice in reactor noise analysis. Hence this study is focused on the automated monitoring and diagnosis procedure for the reactor noise analysis, especially on the Fuzzy algorithm to recognize the pattern of the vibration of Core Suport Barrel. The excore neutron signals of Yonggwang Nuclear Power Plant unit 3 is acquired and analyzed using conventional FFT spectra and tested to adopt the Fuzzy method. An Automated Monitoring and Diagnosis System for CSB Vibration using this Fuzzy method is proposed. Furthermore, vibration data for CSB of Youggwang Nnclear Power Plant unit 3 is presented.
This paper presents an adaptive method to avoid obstacles in various environmental settings, using a two-dimensional (2D) LiDAR sensor for mobile robots. While the conventional reaction based smooth nearness diagram (SND) algorithms use a fixed safety distance criterion, the proposed algorithm autonomously changes the safety criterion considering the obstacle density around a robot. The fixed safety criterion for the whole SND obstacle avoidance process can induce inefficient motion controls in terms of the travel distance and action smoothness. We applied a multinomial logistic regression algorithm, softmax regression, to classify 2D LiDAR point clouds into seven obstacle structure classes. The trained model was used to recognize a current obstacle density situation using newly obtained 2D LiDAR data. Through the classification, the robot adaptively modifies the safety distance criterion according to the change in its environment. We experimentally verified that the motion controls generated by the proposed adaptive algorithm were smoother and more efficient compared to those of the conventional SND algorithms.
The brown alga Ascophyllum nodosum and its mutualistic, ascomycete symbiont, Mycophycias ascophylli, form a complex ‘rganism’or symbiotum. Here we show the interaction of the symbiotum to the abundant brown algal epiphyte, Elachista fucicola. Microscopy of field-collected plants shows morphological responses of A. nodosum to the common epiphyte E. fucicola. When E. fucicola attaches to A. nodosum a bundle of several to dozens of rhizoids penetrates into the host. On the surface of the host, the cells proliferate to form a donut-shaped ring, 100-200 μm in height that surrounds the thallus of E. fucicola. A pit forms in advance of the rhizoids and the cells of A. nodosum break down. This leaves the network of fungal hyphae partially intact and intermingling with the epiphyte rhizoids and its lowermost cells. After the pit is formed, the cells of A. nodosum bordering the infection chamber redifferentiate an epidermal layer. Neither the host nor its mutualistic fungus, M. ascophylli appears to recognize E. fucicola as an invader and to prevent the attachment and growth of this epiphyte. Based on the physical damage to the host caused by invading rhizoids, we conclude that the relationship of E. fucicola to A. nodosum is that of a parasite and its host.
