  • In this paper, the recent trends of conformity assessment activity which is carrying out at ISO is summarized. It is an increasing requirement of quality assurance systems that a company's engineers and technicians are able to demonstrate that they have the required level of knowledge and skill. This is particularly so since maintenance and Inspection activities are very operator dependent and those in authority have to place great reliance on the skill, experience, Judgement and integrity of the personnel involved.

  • Increasing incidence of pleural infection has been reported worldwide in recent decades. The pathogens responsible for pleural infection are changing and differ from those in community acquired pneumonia. The main treatments for pleural infection are antibiotics and drainage of infected pleural fluid. The efficacy of intrapleural fibrinolytics remains unclear, although a recent randomized control study showed that the novel combination of tissue plasminogen activator and deoxyribonuclease had improved clinical outcomes. Surgical drainage is a critical treatment in patient with progression of sepsis and failure in tube drainage.

  • Tuberculous pleurisy is the most common form of extrapulmonary tuberculosis in Korea. Tuberculous pleurisy presents a diagnostic and therapeutic problem due to the limitations of traditional diagnostic tools. There have been many clinical research works during the past decade. Recent studies have provided new insight into the tuberculous pleurisy, which have a large impact on clinical practice. This review is a general overview of tuberculous pleurisy with a focus on recent findings on the diagnosis and management.

  • Recent advances in intracytoplasmic sperm (ICSI) and round spermatid injection (ROSI) would provide exciting opportunities not only for the male infertility but also for studying gamete physiology during fertilization and early development. Furthermore, intracytoplasmic sperm injection could be used to produce transgenic animal (Perry et al., 1999). However, it is not clear in the fertilization processes in mammalian oocytes following intracytoplasmic injection of spermatozoon, isolated sperm head or round spermatid. (omitted)

  • The structural control systems for civil engineering structures have got considerable attention in recent years, since they become effective protective systems. The key idea behind structural control is to keep the response of a structure within certain bounds dictated by serviceability, structural safety, and reliability. Recent activities in control algorithm development and control system design and practical aspects of their applications are sumarized, followed by a discussion on prossible future directions.

  • Knowledge management is a recent area in business administration that deals with how to leverage knowledge as a key asset and resource in modern organizations. Also, Knowledge systems are the single most important industrial and commercial offspring of the discipline called artificial intelligence. A Case Based Reasoning(CBR) system solves new problems by recalling adapting previous solutions. This paper presents the results of a recent empirical study. Furthermore this study proposes a CBR Methodology designed to manage knowledge of Hana company under e-business.

  • Recently problems of soil and groundwater contamination occur in major construction sites of highway, dam and railways. Contaminants of oil fuels are also detected in the former fuel storage facilities of railroad station and army troops of transportation, etc. These facilities are planned as the sites of commercial infrastructures after restoration from pollutants by the law of soil environment conservation of Korea. In this manuscript, the contents of soil environment conservation law including soil assessment and restoration technology are introduced. Recent changes of soil environment area are also analyzed.
