  • This paper deal with estimating the direction of arrival (DOA) of GNSS signal using two antennae for spoofing detection. A technique for estimating the azimuth angle of a received signal by applying the interferometer method to the GPS carrier signal is proposed. The experiment assumes two antennas placed on the earth's surface and estimates the azimuth angle when only GPS signal are received without spoofing signal. The proposed method confirmed the availability through GPS satellite placement simulation and experiments using a dual antenna GPS receiver. In this case of using dual antenna, an azimuth angle ambiguity of the received signal occurs with respect to the baseline between two antennas. For this reason, the accurate azimuth angle estimation is limits, but it can be used for deception by cross-validating the ambiguity.

  • In multipath fading channel, diversity is essential to mitigate the impairments. In this paper, we have proposed the angle diversity scheme called ATTD(Angle Time Transmit Diversity) instead of Alamouti's STTD(Space Time Transmit Diversity) and have analyzed the performance of the proposed scheme when signal powers caused by the transmission to different angles are different. Based on it, we have measured the wireless vector-channel in the urban area, which has lots of high-story buildings, using the data collected from the 8 by 4 smart array antenna system that we made. According to the measured data, the received signals from different angles have different signal powers. Our performance analysis results show that the proposed scheme has better performance than the space diversity scheme when the received path signal power is at least -7dB compare to the strongest path signal power.

  • This paper presents a listening angle estimation scheme based on received signal power difference (RSPD) using acoustic signals, and analyzes the performance of the proposed scheme. The RSPD as the measurement to estimate the listening angle is considered for the first time in this paper. We mathematically analyze the error characteristics of the proposed scheme and present the characteristics of the proposed scheme through the Monte-Carlo simulation. We also conduct actual experiments in an anechoic room to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme to compare with the conventional scheme.

  • PURPOSE: This study assessed the exercise programs for improving the spinal angle and trunk flexibility by applying the aquatic exercise and sling exercise to young adults with scoliosis. METHODS: The subjects were 14 participants diagnosed with scoliosis. They were assigned randomly either to an aquatic exercise group (n=7) that received the WATSU exercise program or to a sling exercise group (n=7) that received a sling exercise program. The exercise program was 50 minutes once, three times a week, 12 times for four weeks. The spinal angle and flexibility were measured using the Cobb's angle and modified sit and reach test, respectively. Two variables were analyzed before and after the intervention, and the aquatic exercise group and sling exercise group were compared. RESULTS: After the intervention, the Cobb's angle decreased significantly, and the flexibility increased significantly in both groups (p<.05). A larger increase in flexibility was observed in the aquatic exercise group than in the sling exercise group (p<.05). CONCLUSION: These results showed that the two exercise programs improved the spine angle and flexibility. The increased flexibility showed that aquatic exercise was more effective than the sling exercise. Therefore, aquatic exercise and sling exercise can be used in the treatment and prevention of scoliosis.

  • Visible light communication system transmits data by controlling light emission of LED and receives data through photo detecter, which is considered as one of strong candidates of next generation wireless communication systems. The transmission capacity of visible light communication system depends on light intensity emitted from LED, sensitivity of PD, distance between transmitter and receiver, angle of incidence at the receiver. In particular, the receiver's vertical and horizontal movement changes distance between transmitter and receiver and angle of incidence, which may degrades transmission capacity of system. In this paper, we propose an estimation algorithm of receiver's position and angle based on tracking of received light intensity for indoor visible light communication systems. The performance evaluation of proposed algorithm confirms that the estimation algorithm of receiver's position and angle is quite important for visible light communication system to improve its transmission capacity.

  • In this paper, we propose an indoor positioning algorithm based on 3 points near field angle-of-arrival estimation without side information. The conventional angle-of-arrival based positioning scheme requires the distance between the listener and the center of two points which is obtained by a received signal strength based range estimation. However, a received signal strength is affected by structure of room, placement of furniture, and characteristic of signal, these effects cause a large error to estimation of angle. In this paper, the proposed positioning scheme based on near field angle-of-arrival estimation can be used to estimate the position of listener without a prior distance information, just using time-difference-of-arrival information given from 3 points microphones. The performance of the proposed scheme is shown by cumulative distribution function of root mean squared error.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation(TENS) on delayed onset muscle soreness(DOMS). Twenty males performed eccentric exercise of the elbow flexor. Subjects were randomly assigned to one of three groups: 1) a group ($n_1$=7) that received low frequency TENS (7 Hz), 2) a group ($n_2$=7) that received high frequency TENS (500 Hz), 3) a control group ($n_3$=6) that received no treatment. DOMS was induced in a standardised fashion in the non-dominant elbow flexor of all subjects by repeated eccentric exercise. Treatments were applied immediately following exercise and again at 24 hours and at 48 hours after. Subjects attended on three consecutive days for treatment and measurement of elbow flexion, extension and resting angle(universal goniometer), and pain(Visual Analogue Scale; VAS) on a daily basis. Measurements were taken after treatment. Analysis of results using repeated measures analysis of variance(ANOVA) and post hoc tests were as follows: 1) there were between groups differences in pain value at 48 hours after (p<0.05), 2) one-way ANOVA with repeated measurement for pain, resting angle, flexion angle and extension angle revealed significant differences within low frequency TENS group, 3) one-way ANOVA with repeated measurement for flexion angle revealed significant difference within high frequency TENS group.

  • Objective: To evaluate soft- and hard-tissue changes in the mandibular angle area after the administration of botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A) injection to patients with masseteric hypertrophy by using three-dimensional cone-beam computed tomography (3D-CBCT). Methods: Twenty volunteers were randomly divided into two groups of 10 patients. Patients in group I received a single BoNT-A injection in both masseter muscles, while those in group II received two BoNT-A injections in each masseter muscle, with the second injection being administered 4 months after the first one. In both groups, 3D-CBCT was performed before the first injection and 6 months after the first injection. Results: Masseter muscle thicknesses and cross-sectional areas were significantly reduced in both groups, but the reductions were significantly more substantial in group II than in group I. The intergonial width of the mandibular angle area did not change significantly in either group. However, the bone volume of the mandibular gonial angle area was more significantly reduced in group II than in group I. Conclusions: The repeated administration of BoNT-A injections may induce bone volume changes in the mandibular angle area.

  • This study investigates dynamic wetting behaviors of a water droplet placed on surfaces with different wettability and nano-structures. Hydrophobic and hydrophilic properties on as-received silicon wafers were prepared by fabricating thin films of hydrophobic polymer and hydrophilic nanoparticles via layer-by-layer coating. Dynamic advancing contact angle of droplets on the prepared surfaces was measured at various moving velocities of triple contact line with a high-speed video camera. As advancing velocity of triple contact line increased, dynamic advancing contact angle on the as-received silicon and hydrophobic surfaces sharply increased up to $80^{\circ}$ in the range of order of mm/sec whereas the SiO2 nanoparticle-coated hydrophilic surface maintained low contact angles of about $30^{\circ}$ and then it gradually increased in the velocity range of order of hundred mm/sec. The improved dynamic wetting ability observed on the nanostructured hydrophilic surface can benefit the performance of various phase-change heat transfer phenomena under forced convective flow.
