  • Cloud computing is internet-based computing where computing resources are offered over the Internet as scalable and on-demand services. In particular, in case a number of various cloud services emerge in accordance with development of internet and mobile technology, to select and provide services with which service users satisfy is one of the important issues. Most of previous works show the limitation in the degree of user satisfaction because they are based on so called concept similarity in relation to user requirements or are lack of versatility of user preferences. This paper presents cloud service selection reasoning which can be applied to the general cloud service environments including a variety of computing resource services, not limited to web services. In relation to the service environments, there are two kinds of services: atomic service and composite service. An atomic service consists of service attributes which represent the characteristics of service such as functionality, performance, or specification. A composite service can be created by composition of atomic services and other composite services. Therefore, a composite service inherits attributes of component services. On the other hand, the main participants in providing with cloud services are service users, service suppliers, and service operators. Service suppliers can register services autonomously or in accordance with the strategic collaboration with service operators. Service users submit request queries including service name and requirements to the service management system. The service management system consists of a query processor for processing user queries, a registration manager for service registration, and a selection engine for service selection reasoning. In order to enhance the degree of user satisfaction, our reasoning stands on basis of the degree of conformance to user requirements of service attributes in terms of functionality, performance, and specification of service attributes, instead of concept similarity as in ontology-based reasoning. For this we introduce so called a service attribute graph (SAG) which is generated by considering the inclusion relationship among instances of a service attribute from several perspectives like functionality, performance, and specification. Hence, SAG is a directed graph which shows the inclusion relationships among attribute instances. Since the degree of conformance is very close to the inclusion relationship, we can say the acceptability of services depends on the closeness of inclusion relationship among corresponding attribute instances. That is, the high closeness implies the high acceptability because the degree of closeness reflects the degree of conformance among attributes instances. The degree of closeness is proportional to the path length between two vertex in SAG. The shorter path length means more close inclusion relationship than longer path length, which implies the higher degree of conformance. In addition to acceptability, in this paper, other user preferences such as priority for attributes and mandatary options are reflected for the variety of user requirements. Furthermore, to consider various types of attribute like character, number, and boolean also helps to support the variety of user requirements. Finally, according to service value to price cloud services are rated and recommended to users. One of the significances of this paper is the first try to present a graph-based selection reasoning unlike other works, while considering various user preferences in relation with service attributes.

  • A value creation is understood as important business strategy these days in both academics and industry. But this phenomenon is not fully understood based on systematized framework. In this paper, we summarized value research trend based on exploratory research and inductive reasoning by exploring both international and domestic journals. And we built a research framework that can analyze value creation between supplier and customer. Value research prior to 2004 is primarily divided into values of goods or services and relationship values. After 2004, service-dominant (SD) logic has been outlined. There are other research trends to see the relationship value in terms of relationship benefits and relationship in the network or supply chain. 4 critical resource types (financial resource, knowledge resource, efficiency resource, and intellectual resource) and 5 competence types (relational capability, collaboration capability, innovation capability, managing capability) are constructed as principal factors for value creation from inductive reasoning based upon a resource-based view (RBV) and a competence-based view (CBV). The research framework was built based on 4 resources and 4 competences.

  • Ontology plays an important role of the Semantic Web to describe meaning and reasoning of resources. Ontology has more rich expressive power through OWL that is a next standard representation language recommended by W3C. As the Semantic Web is widely known, an amount of information resources on the Web is growing rapidly and the related information resources are placed in distributed systems on the Web. So, for providing seamless services without the awareness of far distance, efficient management of the distributed information resources is required. Especially, sear ching fast for local repositories that include data related to user's queries is important to the performance of systems in the distributed environment. In this paper, first, we propose an index structure to search local repositories related to queries in the distributed Semantic Web. Second, we propose a query rewriting strategy to extend given user's query using various expression of OWL. Through the proposed index and query strategy, we can utilize various expressions of OWL and find local repositories related to all query patterns on the Semantic Web.

  • Users want to receive customized service using users' personal device. To fulfill this requirement, the mobile device has to support a lot of functions. However, the mobile device has limitations such as tiny display screens. To solve this limitation problem and provide customized service to users, this paper proposes the environment to provide services by sharing resources and the method to recommend user-suitable resources among sharable resources. For the resource recommendation, This paper analyzes user's behavior pattern from usage history and proposes the method for recommending customized resources. This paper also shows that the approach is reasonable one for resource recommendation through the satisfaction evaluation.

  • Resource Constrained Dynamic Multi-Projects Scheduling (RCDMPS) is intended to schedule activities of two or more projects sequentially arriving at die shop under restricted resources. The aim of this paper is to develop a new problem solving method for RCDMPS to make an effect schedule based by constraint programming. The constraint-based scheduling method employs ILOG Solver which is C++ constraint reasoning library for solving complex resource management problems and ILOG Schedule which is a add-on library to ILOG Solver dedicated to solving scheduling problems. And this method interfaces with ILOG Views so that the result of scheduling displays with Gantt chart. The scheduling method suggested in this paper was applied to a company scheduling problem and compared with the other heuristic methods, and then it shows that the new scheduling system has more preference.

  • The Parameters of the storage function model (SFM) are taken as constants, while they have different values during every rainfall period and the duration of the runoff. Therefore, the results of the SFM generally show remarkably large errors. In this study, the modified storage function model (MSFM), in which the time variant parameters are introduced, is proposed to improve the SFM which is a conceptual rainfall-runoff model. The fuzzy reasoning method is applied as a real-time control one of the time variant parameters of the proposed model. The applicability of the MSFM was examined in the Bochung river, at a tributary of the Geum River, Korea. The pattern of the predicted runoff hydrograph and the peak discharge by the MSFM with fuzzy control are very similar to the measured values, compared with the results produced by the SFM.

  • At present, many applications independently provide access control for their own resources, for example Web, Databases and Operating Systems, etc. Such independent access control systems result in multiple access control configurations each of which deals with the access control in its own application context. Since those multiple configurations are operated in isolation, and maintained by possibly different administrators, they are likely to be incoherent. In this paper, we propose a logical specification to reason about multiple access control configurations. Our specification can be used to detect the incoherence in multiple configurations. Furthermore, it of offers many kinds of policies for multiple configurations that can capture several kinds of requirements for multiple access control systems.

  • In a specific domain, experts have different understanding of domain knowledge or different purpose of constructing ontology. These will lead to multiple different ontologies in the domain. This phenomenon is called the ontology heterogeneity. For research fields that require cross-ontology operations such as knowledge fusion and knowledge reasoning, the ontology heterogeneity has caused certain difficulties for research. In this paper, we propose a novel ontology matching model that combines word embedding and a concatenated continuous bag-of-words model. Our goal is to improve word vectors and distinguish the semantic similarity and descriptive associations. Moreover, we make the most of textual and structural information from the ontology and external resources. We represent the ontology as a graph and use the SimRank algorithm to calculate the structural similarity. Our approach employs a similarity queue to achieve one-to-many matching results which provide a wider range of insights for subsequent mining and analysis. This enhances and refines the methodology used in ontology matching.

  • Textbooks are important resources in support of teaching and learning mathematics competencies which are emphasized in the most recently revised mathematics curriculum. This study analyzed how six mathematics competencies and their sub-elements are implemented in the mathematics textbooks for the fifth and sixth grades. A total of 465 activities or items in the targeted textbooks were analyzed. The findings of this study showed that both the communication competence and the reasoning competence were the most frequent competencies, followed by the problem solving competence. In contrast, the other three competences (i.e., creativity and integration, attitude and practice, and information processing) were less popular. Detailed analyses of sub-elements according to each competence revealed that one or two specific sub-elements were emphasized within a competence. Whereas "expressing one's idea" was the most prevalent sub-element in the communication competence, both "analyzing mathematical facts" and "observation and conjecture" were the most frequent in the reasoning practice. Specific sub-elements were jointly implemented within or across competences. "External connections of mathematics and integration" in the creativity and integration competence was carried out in relation to "recognition of values" in the attitude and practice competence. This paper also included some examples of activities or items showing how specific sub-elements of each competence were reflected on. This study is expected to provide implications on how to implement mathematics competencies throughout the textbooks.
