Syntheses of phthalide sulfone 2 and naphthalenone 6 followed by new ring annelation methodology of Michael addition using the sulfone anion developed by Hauser-Rhee, furnished linear tetracyclic ring system compound 11. The double bond existing in A-ring of 11 was used to convert to carbomethoxy compound 16, possessing one carbon atom more via Arndt-Eistert synthesis and Wolff rearrangement. Cyclization and hydroxylation of 16 completed the construction of (${\pm}$)-7-Deoxyaklavinone (18).

Plant chloroplast DNA exists as an unique circular structure in which large single copy(LSC) region and small single copy (SSC) region are separated by large inverted repeat sequences (IRS). It has been known that the unique existence of inverted repeat sequences in chloroplast DNA has no relation with the stability of the chloroplast DNA, but causes the inversion between inverted repeat its biological significance has not been understood so far. In rice, several gene clusters have been cloned and sequenced which contain ribulose-5-biophosphate car-boxylase large subunit (rbcL). Especially, one rbcL gene is linked with rp12 gene which is located in the IRS region in one of the gene clusters. By comparison of nucleotide sequence, the two genes are found to be linked through 151 bp repeat sequence which is homologous to the rp123 gene in IRS region. The repeat sequence is found to be located 3' downstream of rfcL gene and near psbA gene in LSC region. The existence of these repeat sequences and the presence of gene clusters caused by the gene rearrangement thorough the repeat sequence provide a possible which is found to be dispersed chloroplast DNA provide the model system to explaine the heterogeneity of the chloroplast DNA in rice in term of gene rearrangement.
For the karyotype analysis of Liobagrus hyeongsanensis, an endemic Korean torrent catfish, ten females and five males were used from Yangbuk-myeon, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongsangbukdo, Korea. The diploid number of chromosomes was 42, and its karyotype consisted of 30 metacentrics and 12 submetacentrics; 84 FN (fundamental number), with having no polyploidy and sexual dimorphism. The chromosome number was the same as other closely-related species, L. mediadiposalis and L. somjinensis, but their karyotypes showed a clear difference by species. Such result may be related to chromosomal rearrangements by Robertsonian rearrangement with geographical isolation.
Recently it was known that the problems of nearshore processes and damage of berth and counter facilities frequently had appeared at the small fishery port, such as Daebang near Samcheonpo city, Korea. Here we try to analyze the impact of the rearrangement of counter facilities and berth layout adopted for tranquility of its inner harbor. Because this harbor is being connected to Daebang channel, the rearrangement of the structures might affect to the current speed and direction and wave height, so do to the sea bottom undulation. Therefore, we made model test for the several layouts of the berth and breakwater in this area. Numerical model result shows that the bottom was eroded by 1m by tidal currents and the speed of flow did not shrink, even after the construction work was completed. The direction of the sand movement was downdrift. Although the model study gave reasonable description of beach processes and approach channel sedimentation mechanism, it is necessary to compare with the field history, including the records of waves, tides and bottom materials, etc. for better prediction.

This paper reports on the structural rearrangement of satellite DNA type I repeats and heterochromatin during the dedifferentiation and cell cycling of mesophyll protoplasts of cucumber (Cucumis sativus). These repeats were localized in the telomeric heterochromatin of cucumber chromosomes and in the chromocenters of interphase nuclei. The dramatic reduction of heterochromatin involves decondensation of subtelomeric repeats in freshly isolated protoplasts; however, there are not a great many remarkable changes in the expression profile. In spite of that, reformation of the chromocenters, occurring 48 h after protoplast isolation, is accompanied by recondensation of satellite DNA type I; however, only partial reassembly of these repeats was revealed. In this study, FISH and a flow cytometry assay show a correlation between the partial chromocenter and the repeats reassembly, and with the reentry of cultivated protoplasts into the cell cycle and first cell division. After that, divided cells displayed a higher variability in the expression profile than did leaves' mesophyll cells and protoplasts.

Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma has specific clinical and pathologic features. The most common site MALT lymphomas is the stomach; however, it can also occur in other organs, such as the salivary glands. MALT lymphoma is rare, but its prognosis is good. A 32-year-old man visited Konyang university hospital with parotid mass. Superficial partial parotidectomy was performed to exclude lymphoid neoplasms. IgH gene rearrangement analysis of the surgical specimen led to the diagnosis of MALT lymphoma. The patient underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy, positron emission tomography-computed tomography, and whole-body bone scan. Regional or distant metastasis was not observed on staging workup. The patient underwent postoperative radiation therapy, there has been no recurrence of MALT lymphoma to date. Here, we report this rare case of parotid MALT lymphoma that was treated with surgery and postoperative radiation therapy.
The stabilizing effects of $\alpha$-$\beta$-$\gamma$- and dimethyl-$\beta$-cyclodextrins $(\alpha$-, $\beta$-, $\gamma$- and DM-$\beta-$-CyDs) on the degradation of hydrocortisone 17-butyrate (HC-17B) in aqueous solution was investigated. Hc-17B underwent a facile hydroxide ion-catalyzed rearrangement to the less active 21-butyrate ester by the apparent first-order kinetics, and maximum stability of HC-17B was obtained at around pH 4.0. The stability of HC-17B was increased by inclusion complexation with $\alpha$-, $\gamma$- and DM-$\beta$-CyD in the pH range of 2.0-8.0 examined, whereas $\beta$-CyD accelerated the degradation of HC-17B at the pH higher than 5.0. The effects of ionic strength, solvent, temperature and CyD concentration were also investigated. Stability constants and apparent degradation rate constants of HC-17B-$\gamma$-CyD and HC-17B-DM-$\beta$-CyD complexes were determined kinetically on the basis of 1:1 complexation. The results suggested that the inclusion complexation with $\gamma$-CyD or DM-$\beta$-CyD was most useful means to enhance the stability of the steroid.

In this paper, we propose a new free-view three-dimensional (3D) computational reconstruction of integral imaging to improve the visual quality of reconstructed 3D images when low-resolution elemental images are used. In a conventional free-view reconstruction, the visual quality of the reconstructed 3D images is insufficient to provide 3D information to applications because of the shift and sum process. In addition, its processing speed is slow. To solve these problems, our proposed method uses a pixel rearrangement technique (PERT) with locally selective elemental images. In general, PERT can reconstruct 3D images with a high visual quality at a fast processing speed. However, PERT cannot provide a free-view reconstruction. Therefore, using our proposed method, free-view reconstructed 3D images with high visual qualities can be generated when low-resolution elemental images are used. To show the feasibility of our proposed method, we applied it to optical experiments.
In the process of creating drawings based on Building Information Modeling (BIM), automatically generated annotations can cause interference issues depending on the drawing type. This study aims to develop an algorithm for repositioning annotations using genetic algorithms to minimize such interferences. To achieve this, the Application Programming Interface (API) of BIM software was used to analyze data extractable from BIM drawing files. The process involved defining drawing data related to annotation repositioning, preprocessing this data, and deriving optimal placement coordinates for the annotations. Furthermore, applying the developed algorithm to the preliminary design drawings of small and medium-sized neighborhood facilities resulted in approximately a 95.37% decrease in annotation interference, indicating that the proposed algorithm can significantly enhance productivity in BIM-based drawing tasks.
In order to determine the effect of extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields (ELF-EMF) on the frequency of micronuclei (MN), aneuploidy and chromosomal rearrangement induced by bleomycin (BLM) in human fibroblast cells, a 60 Hz ELF-EMF of 0.8 mT field strength was applied either alone or with ELM throughout the culture period and a micronucleus-centromere assay was performed. Our results indicate that the frequencies of MN, aneuploidy and chromosomal rearrangement induced by ELM increased in a dose-dependent manner. The exposure of cells to 0.8 mT ELF-EMF followed by ELM exposure for 3 hours led to significant increases in the frequencies of MN and aneuploidy compared to BLM treatment for 3 hours alone (p<0.05), but no significant difference was observed between field exposed and sham exposed control cells. The obtained results suggest that low density ELF-EMF could act as an enhancer of the initiation process of BLM rather than as an initiator of mutagenic effects in human fibroblast.
