  • With respect to the advent of realistic media, the so-called future cinema theory or the theory of the end of cinema that cinema will be transformed by the advent of realistic media, or that realistic media will expel film media and replace them are being put forward as if they were orthodoxy. Therefore, this paper argues that the future cinematic theory and the theory of the end of cinema the cinema are inferred from the false premise that the superiority and inferiority relationship and substitute relationship established only between video media of the same type with the same properties are also established even between realistic media and film media, which have different properties. And it is concluded that realistic media and film media will coexist because they have different properties, functions, uses, and utilities.

  • CGI not only performed a crucial role to make cinema and animation evolved into digital cinema and digital animation but also CGI, an important visual format, settled realism-centric spectacle image culture in public commercial cinema and animation. The fact that CGI visual format could be structuralized in three different view points is discovered through Iconicity, photorealism, verisimilitude, uncanny valley, hyperrealism, and spectacular realism discourse research which explain image culture. First, a formative viewpoint that comes up in an iconic difference between drawing and photograph. Secondly, a cognitive viewpoint that sees visually perceived naturalness and abnormality as a realistic probability issue. Lastly, a customary viewpoint which is rooted in aesthetic tradition of cinema and animation. After that, the features of CGI which is used in the movie 'jungle book'(2016) were analyzed using the structured visual format. Consequently, this movie has hyper-realistic photographic iconicity on the base of realistic probability. Also, by following image-aesthetic convention which uses overstated and amplified narrative as a visual format, at the same time, the movie also has sufficient image-aesthetic convention in animation by personified animal character.

  • Despite skepticism about commercial potential, the stereoscopic 3D cinema is still a form that any filmmaker can choose to employ for its aesthetics and its immersive potential. Based on a haptic illusion, the stereoscopic media content requires a new perspective different from the principle of 2D media content in terms of creation and acceptance. This paper examines the technical and aesthetic issues of stereoscopic 3D film production from the perspective of today's emerging realistic and immersive media through a case study. One of the key factors for successful content creation and research and development in stereoscopic 3D cinema is the combination of artistic principles together with technical mastering of the new image technology. The purpose of this paper is to outline the principal challenges and research topics in stereoscopic 3D cinema through a case study of stereoscopic 3D pilot film production for the 'User-Selective UHD Stereoscopic Media Service Platform' of the ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute). This paper intends to examine stereoscopic 3D filmmaking workflow and production methodologies, as well as technical elements and aesthetic issues.

  • Entering the digital cinema era, movies and games are remediating each other. The shots of digital movies are being transformed into realistic content through digital Moving long-take shots that transcend time and space and move smoothly. At this time, the digital Moving long take shot that continuously captures the space in all directions without an external screen induces a game experience. In addition, the camera that constantly accompanies the person enhances the sense of immersion in the game in a way similar to the point of view of the game. While various immersive device contents represented by VR, AR and XR are emerging, the advent of <1917> suggests significant implications for post-cinema in that it creates a game experience while maintaining the traditional screen environment and cinematic paradigm.

  • Digital Signage and multi-view image system are used as the 4th media to deliver stories and information due to their strong immersion. A content image displayed on large Digital Signage is produced with the use of computer graphics, rather than reality image. That is because the images shot for content making have an extremely limited range of production and their limitation to high resolution, and thereby have difficulty being displayed in a large and wide Digital Signage screen. In case of Screen X and Escape that employ the left and right walls of in the center a movie theater as a screen, images are shot with three cameras for Digital Cinema, and are screened in a cinema with multi-view image system after stitching work is applied. Such realistic images help viewers experience real-life content. This research will be able to display high-resolution images on Digital Signage without quality degradation by using the multi-view image making technique of Screen X and Chroma key technique are showed the high-resolution Digital Signage content making method.

This study focused on the realism movie 도 가 니 "(Silenced), on the basis of the theory of saussure's semiotics, combined with its proposed the concept of "signifier" and "mean", through the study of arbitrariness and secondary film symbol sign system, designed to dig deeper into the symbolic meanings in the movie, and their cultural significance and social evaluation. • Realistic videos using multi-view videos are created so that the contents shown on multi-view displays or screens look realistic. These images have been mostly used for special videos for exhibition, but, recently, systems such as Screen X have given rise to multi-view images as a format for storytelling contents such as movies. This study used HD-level broadcasting digital video camera with three zoom lenses for shooting wide to close-up shots focusing on a person, in the same way as Screen X, and identified and analyzed problems found during multi-view image registration correction. The results of this study suggested, provided the shooting technique and equipment are improved, the multi-view format can be used for conveying stories and information. Future research will need to investigate and supplement relevant techniques that will enable production of high-quality multi-view image contents by using a cinema-grade camera with standard lenses, instead of using broadcasting-grade zoom lenses.

  • This article analyzed the new changes Hong Kong director Lin Chaoxian has brought to theme films of Mainland China and the factors affecting these changes. The objects of the analysis are Lin Chaoxian's films (2016), (2018), and (2020). Compared with Mainland China directors suffering from heavy political burden, Dante Lam directed theme films based on the model from commercial films and adopted lots of elements from Hong Kong films. There, the ideology expression in these theme films was no longer rigid, but a diversified value embodiment resonating with the audience. At the same time, these theme films achieved higher commercial value, in which the stereotyped and unrealistic hero images were replaced by realistic and compound characters, and the display of cool or violent action scenes contributed to lots of visual feasts. All the changes were influenced by the audience preferences and the development of private enterprises in Mainland China.
