  • 3D GIS(Geographic Information System) processes, analyzes and presents various real-world 3D phenomena by building 3D spatial information of real-world terrain, facilities, etc., and working with visualization technique such as VR(Virtual Reality). It can be applied to such areas as urban management system, traffic information system, environment management system, disaster management system, ocean management system, etc,. In this paper, we propose video visualization technology based on 3D geographic information to provide effectively real-time information in 3D geographic information system and also present methods for establishing 3D building information data. The proposed video visualization system can provide real-time video information based on 3D geographic information by projecting real-time video stream from network video camera onto 3D geographic objects and applying texture-mapping of video frames onto terrain, facilities, etc.. In this paper, we developed sem i-automatic DBM(Digital Building Model) building technique using both aerial im age and LiDAR data for 3D Projective Texture Mapping. 3D geographic information system currently provide static visualization information and the proposed method can replace previous static visualization information with real video information. The proposed method can be used in location-based decision-making system by providing real-time visualization information, and moreover, it can be used to provide intelligent context-aware service based on geographic information.

  • The recent 3D visualization such as volume rendering, iso-surface rendering or stream line visualization gives more understanding about structures or distribution of data in a space and, moreover, the real-time rendering of a scene enables the animation of time-series data. Because the meteorological data is frequently formed as multi-variables, 3-dimensional and time-series data, the spatial analysis, time-series analysis, vector display, and animation techniques can do important roles to get more understanding about data. In this research, our aim is to develop the 3-dimensional visualization techniques for meteorological data in the PC environment by using IDL. The visualization technology from :his research will be used as basic technology not only for the deeper understanding and the more exact prediction about meteorological environments but also for the scientific and spatial data visualization research in any field from which three-dimensional data comes out such as oceanography, earth science, or aeronautical engineering.

  • The paper presents an efficient algorithm based on ROAM for visualization of large scale terrain models in real-time. The quality and smoothness of the terrain data visualization within a 3D interactive environment is preserved, while the complexity of the algorithm is kept on a reasonable level. The main contribution of the paper is an introduction of a number of efficient techniques such as implicit coordinates method within the patch array representing ROAM and the viewpoint dependent triangle rendering method for dynamic level of detail (LOD) updates. In addition, the paper presents experimental comparison of a variety of culling techniques, including a newly introduced method: relational position culling. These techniques are incorporated in the visualization software, which allows to achieve more realistic terrain representation and the real-time level of detail reduction.

  • In implementing interactive multimedia systems, real-time visualization plays an important role. This paper presents efficient data structures and algorithms for real-time terrain navigation. Terrain data set is usually too huge to display as is. Therefore LOD (levels of detail) methods and view frustum culling are essential tools. This paper describes in detail compact hierarchical data structures, fast view frustum culling, and efficient LOD construction/rendering algorithms. Unlike previous works, we use a precise screen-space error metric for vertex removal and a strict error threshold allowing sub-pixel -sized errors only. Nevertheless, we can achieve 22 fps on average in a PC platform. The methods presented in this paper also satisfy almost all of the requirements for interactive real-time terrain Visualization.

  • Interactive terrain visualization is an important research area with applications in GIS, games, virtual reality, scientific visualization and flight simulators, besides having military use. This is a complex and challenging problem considering that some applications require precise visualizations of huge data sets at real-time rates. In general, the size of data sets makes rendering at real-time difficult since the terrain data cannot fit entirely in memory. In this paper, we suggest the effective Real-time LOD(level-of-detail) algorithm for displaying the huge terrain data and processing mass geometry. We used a hierarchy structure with $4{\times}4$ and $2{\times}2$ tiles for real-time rendering of mass volume DEM which acquired from Digital map, LiDAR, DTM and DSM. Moreover, texture mapping is performed to visualize realistically while displaying height data of normalized Giga Byte level with user oriented terrain information and creating hill shade map using height data to hierarchy tile structure of file type. Large volume of terrain data was transformed to LOD data for real time visualization. This paper show the new LOD algorithm for seamless visualization, high quality, minimize the data loss and maximize the frame speed.

  • The delayed gastric emptying flows have been visualized in this study when a gastric graft replaced an esophagus after esophagectomy. To construct visualization models for gastric grafts, the path data of gastric graft were extracted from the CT images for real patients and then the experimental models were made from silicone tube by considering elasticity of real stomach. During experiments, 200 ml of water or glycerin was poured into the gastric graft model and the gastric emptying time for total volume of fluid to pass pylorus was measured from the successive images captured by a high speed CCD. The gastric emptying time was compared according to the change of diameter and path (front or rear path) of gastric graft, and pyloroplasty or not. In case that the pyloroplasty was not conducted, the smaller was the diameter of gastric graft, the shorter was the gastric emptying time. However, if the pyloroplasty was conducted, the larger diameter of gastric graft was better for the gastric emptying. Although the rear path gave rise to longer gastric emptying time than the front path, it did not matter, if the pyloroplasty was conducted.

  • Volume visualization is an important subarea of scientific visualization, and is concerned with techniques that are effectively used in generating meaningful and visual information from abstract and complex volume datasets, defined in three- or higher-dimensional space. It has been increasingly important in various fields including meteorology, medical science, and computational fluid dynamics, and so on. On the other hand, virtual reality is a research field focusing on various techniques that aid gaining experiences in virtual worlds with visual, auditory and tactile senses. In this paper, we have developed a visualization system for CAVE, an immersive 3D virtual environment system, which generates stereoscopic images from huge human volume datasets in real-time using an improved volume visualization technique. In order to complement the 3D texture-mapping based volume rendering methods, that easily slow down as data sizes increase, our system utilizes an image-based rendering technique to guarantee real-time performance. The system has been designed to offer a variety of user interface functionality for effective visualization. In this article, we present detailed description on our real-time stereoscopic visualization system, and show how the Visible Korean Human dataset is effectively visualized on CAVE.

  • Recent performing-art has a trend to be new cultural contents style which mixes various genre not just traditional way. Especially in stage performance, unique performance is playing using high technology and image. In sound performance, one of technology, a new experiment is trying which re-analyze the sound and mixes the result with image. But in public performance we have a technical difficulty with making visualization regarding the sound in realtime. Because we can not make visualization with instant sound from performers and audience it is difficult to interact smoothly between performer and audience. To resolve this kind of restriction, this paper suggests Real-time sound visualization. And we use string music instrument for sound source. Using the MaxMSP/Jitter based the Midi, we build image control system then we test and control the image with Korg Nano Kontrol. With above experiment we can verify verious emotion, feeling and rhythm of performer according to performance environment and also we can verify the real time interactive image which can be changed momently by performer's action.

  • Risk management system should be able to support a decision making within a short time to analyze stream data in real time. Many analytical systems consist of CPU computation and disk based database. However, it is more problematic when existing system analyzes stream data in real time. Stream data has various production periods from 1ms to 1 hour, 1day. One sensor generates small data but tens of thousands sensors generate huge amount of data. If hundreds of thousands sensors generate 1GB data per second, CPU based system cannot analyze the data in real time. For this reason, it requires fast processing speed and scalability for analyze stream data. In this paper, we present a fast visualization technique that consists of hybrid database and GPU computation. In order to evaluate our technique, we demonstrate a visual analytics system that analyzes pipeline leak using sensor and tweet data.

  • This paper describes a compression scheme for volumetric video data(3D space X 1D time) there each frame of the volume is decompressed and rendered in real-time. Since even one frame size of volume is very large, runtime decompression can be a bottleneck for real-time playback of time-varying volume data. To increase the run-time decompression speed and compression ratio, we decompose the volume into small blocks and only update significantly changing blocks. The results show that our compression scheme compromises decompression speed and image quality well enough for interactive time-varying visualization.
