Real-Time Scheduling Facility for Video-On-Demand Service (주문형 비디오 서비스를 위한 실시간 스케쥴링 기능)

  • In this paper, the real-time facility of the operating system for a VOD(Video On Demand) server have been analyzed and implemented. The requirements of the real-time scheduling have been gathered by analyzing the model of the video-data-transfer-path. Particularly, the influence of the bottleneck subsystem have been analyzed. Thus, we have implemented the real-time scheduler and primitives which is proper for processing the digital video. In performance measurements, the degree of the guarantee of the real-time scheduler have been experimented. The measured data show that the most time constraints of the process is satisfied. But, the network protocol processing by the interrupt is a major obstacle of the real-time scheduling. We also have compared the difference between the real-time scheduler and the non-real-time scheduler by measuring the inter-execution time. According to the measured results, the real-time scheduler should be used for efficient video service because the processor time allocated to the process can't be estimated when the non-real-time scheduler is used.

Dynamic Transaction Processing in Distributed Real-Time Systems (실시간 분산 시스템을 위한 동적 트랜잭션 처리)

  • 본 논문에서는 분산 실시간 시스템의 특징인 분산 처리 과정의 신뢰성을 지원하기 위한 동적 트랜잭션 처리 구조를 연구하였다. 실시간 분산 처리 환경에서 동적으로 발생하는 실시간 분산 트랜잭션 처리를 위하여 트랜잭션 내에 필수적인 3가지 언어적 특성들을 제시하였다. 첫째는 트랜잭션 내에 실시간 시스템의 가장 중요한 특징인 시간적인 제약 조건들을 정의 할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고, 둘째는 비동기적인 처리 성격을 지닌 실시간 특성을 고려한 비동기적 트랜잭션 처리 방법을 제시한다. 또한, 분산 처리 과정에서 발생되는 예외 사항들을 처리하기 위하여 긴급성을 고려한 다중레벨 우선순위 스케줄링 (Multi-Level Priotiry Scheduling)이라 부르는 트랜잭션 스케줄링 방안을 제시한다. 그리고, 제시한 실시간 분산 트랜잭션 처리 구조의 타당성 및 가능성을 입증하기 위한 실시간 트랜잭션 처리 과정을 시물레이션을 통하여 제시한 언어적 특성에 대한 고려 사항들을 보여준다.Abstract We propose a dynamic transaction processing model that supports a reliability for distributed real-time processing. For the dynamic processing in distributed real-time transaction systems, we suggest three features that are defined in programming language. First, we propose a specification model to explicitly define the time constraints, needs in real-time distributed processing. Second, we describe an asynchronous transaction processing mechanism based on the real-time characteristics. So, we suggest three communication primitives to support asynchronous transaction processing. Lastly, a scheduling policy based on urgent transaction is suggested to manage the exception occurred during the distributed processing. This scheduling policy is called multi-level priotiry scheduling (MPLS). Based on three features and scheduling policy, we describe a direction to manage a dynamic transaction processing in distributed real-time systems.

  • As the areas of computer application are expanded, real-time application environments that must process as many transactions as possible within their deadlines, such as a stock transaction systems, ATM switching systems etc, have been increased recently. The reason why the conventional database systems can't process soft real-time applications is the lack of prediction and poor performance on processing transaction's deadline. If transactions want to access data stored at the secondary storage, they can not satisfy requirements of real-time applications because of the disk delay time. This paper designs a main-memory database prototype systems to be suitable to real-time applications and then this system can produce rapid results without disk i/o as all of the information are loaded in main memory database. In thesis proposed the improved techniques with respect to logging, checkpointing, and recovering in our environment. In order to improve the performance of the system, a) the frequency of log analysis and redo processing is reduced by the proposed redo technique at system failure, b) database consistency is maintained by improved fuzzy checkpointing. The performance model is proposed which consists of two parts. The first part evaluates log processing time for recovery and compares with other research activities. The second part examines checkpointing behavior.

  • The most of intrusion detection methods do not detect intrusion on real-time because it takes a long time to analyze an auditing data for intrusions. To solve the problem, we are studying a real-time intrusion detection. Therefore, this paper proposes an agent model using multi warning level for real-time intrusion detection. It applies to distributed environment using an extensibility and communication mechanism among agents, supports a portability, an extensibility and a confidentiality of IDS.

  • A need exists for the accurate identification of time series models having time varying parameters, as is important in the case of real time identification of nonstationary EMG signal. Thls paper describes real time identification and muscle fatigue monitoring method of nonstationary EMG signal. The method is composed of the efficient identifier which estimates the autoregressive parameters of nonstationary EMG signal model, and its real time implementation by using T805 parallel processing computer. The method is verified through experiment with real EMG signals which are obtained from surface electrode. As a result, the proposed method provides a new approach for real time Implementation of muscle fatigue monitoring and the execution time is 0.894ms/sample for 1024Hz EMG signal.

  • A fossil power plant can be modeled by a lot of algebraic equations and differential equations. When we simulate a large, complicated fossil power plant by a computer such as workstation or PC, it takes much time until overall equations are completely calculated. Therefore, new processing systems which have high computing speed is ultimately needed to develope real-time simulators. Vital points of real-time simulators are accuracy, computing speed, and deadline observing. In this paper, we present a enhanced strategy in which we can provide powerful computing power by parallel processing of DSP processors with communication links. We designed general purpose DSP modules, and a VME interface module. Because the DSP module is designed for general purpose, we can easily expand the parallel system by just connecting new DSP modules to the system. Additionally we propose methods about downloading programs, initial data to each DSP module via VME bus, DPRAM and processing sequences about computing and updating values between DSP modules and CPU30 board when the simulator is working.

  • The goals of this papper are not only to maximize of performance but also to reduce the response time for the real-time printed alphabets recognition system using the backpropagation algorithm in the artificial neural network. The Genesis board and MIL(Matrox Image Library) package were used to real-time acquisition, processing and display of images. Through this experiment proved the possibility of real-time recognition processing by comparing response times of the system and proposing the method to reduce of order of the output vectors.

  • Smart Cities intelligently manage numerous infrastructures, including Smart-City IoT devices, and provide a variety of smart-city applications to citizen. In order to provide various information needed for smart-city applications, Smart Cities require a function to intelligently process large-scale streamed big data that are constantly generated from a large number of IoT devices. To provide smart services in Smart-City, the Smart-City Consortium uses stream reasoning. Our stream reasoning requires real-time processing of big data. However, there are limitations associated with real-time processing of large-scale streamed big data in Smart Cities. In this paper, we introduce one of our researches on cloud computing based real-time distributed-parallel-processing to be used in stream-reasoning of IoT big data in Smart Cities. The Smart-City Consortium introduced its previously developed smart-city middleware. In the research for this paper, we made cloud computing based real-time distributed-parallel-processing available in the cloud computing platform of the smart-city middleware developed in the previous research, so that we can perform real-time distributed-parallel-processing with them. This paper introduces a real-time distributed-parallel-processing method and system for stream reasoning with IoT big data transmitted from various sensors of Smart Cities and evaluate the performance of real-time distributed-parallel-processing of the system where the method is implemented.

  • Now, GPS survey is used on equipment from leisure to precise geodetic survey and nation admits the result of GPS survey. When surveyors perform precise GPS survey, they use post processing method but they greatly use real time processing method to consider field status. Especially, when surveyors measure the result of moving target, they use real time GPS survey to the best method. For this study, the author precisely surveyed distance of ship launching from shipyard on real time using real time precise GPS method. In this paper, the author compares and examines the accuracy of first real time precise GPS survey method nationally and the capability on use. And the author performed real time precise GPS survey in NOKBONG and 21C shipyard positioning at GEOJEDO.

Development of an Improved Geometric Path Tracking Algorithm with Real Time Image Processing Methods (실시간 이미지 처리 방법을 이용한 개선된 차선 인식 경로 추종 알고리즘 개발)

  • In this study, improved path tracking control algorithm based on pure pursuit algorithm is newly proposed by using improved lane detection algorithm through real time post-processing with interpolation methodology. Since the original pure pursuit works well only at speeds below 20 km/h, the look-ahead distance is implemented as a sigmoid function to work well at an average speed of 45 km/h to improve tracking performance. In addition, a smoothing filter was added to reduce the steering angle vibration of the original algorithm, and the stability of the steering angle was improved. The post-processing algorithm presented has implemented more robust lane recognition system using real-time pre/post processing method with deep learning and estimated interpolation. Real time processing is more cost-effective than the method using lots of computing resources and building abundant datasets for improving the performance of deep learning networks. Therefore, this paper also presents improved lane detection performance by using the final results with naive computer vision codes and pre/post processing. Firstly, the pre-processing was newly designed for real-time processing and robust recognition performance of augmentation. Secondly, the post-processing was designed to detect lanes by receiving the segmentation results based on the estimated interpolation in consideration of the properties of the continuous lanes. Consequently, experimental results by utilizing driving guidance line information from processing parts show that the improved lane detection algorithm is effective to minimize the lateral offset error in the diverse maneuvering roads.
