  • Text has evolved along with the history of art as a means of communicating human intentions and emotions. In addition, text visualization artworks have been combined with the social form and contents of new media to produce social messages and related meanings. Recently, in text visualization artworks combined with digital media, communication forms with viewers are changing instantly and interactively, and viewers are actively participating in creating artworks by direct engagement. Interactive text visualization with additional viewer's interaction, generates external dynamics from text shapes and internal dynamics from embedded meanings of text. The purpose of this study is to propose a visual dynamics model to express the dynamics of text and to implement a text visualization system based on the model. It uses the deconstruction of the imaged text to create an interactive text visualization system that reacts to the gestures of the viewer in real time. Visual Transformation synchronized with the intentions of the viewer prevent the text from remaining in the interpretation of language symbols and extend the various meanings of the text. The visualized text in various forms shows visual dynamics that interpret the meaning according to the cultural background of the viewer.

  • As Sensor plays an important part in day-to-day life. Sensors are used almost in each domain wherein humans are not able to sense or measure some parameters. Say from sensing a real-time activity of a person to sensing the tiny molecules of any gas or structures. Now sensors combined with advanced fabrication techniques with nanotechnology can be said as a game-changing combination. As the modern world is evolving every minute, the size of the components, instruments, and different equipment is shrinking rapidly. For example, the sensor or any other element which was used 10 years ago is reduced up to 5 times its original size and all of this is possible because of continuous advancement done in the manufacturing and fabrication techniques that are being used nowadays. Apart from this, it is not necessary that the term nano should only justify the size of the sensor. Nanotechnologically fabricated, refers to a sensor or any other element which may be large enough as compared to the regular one but they may be structured using some nano-particles.

  • A Device performance analyzing method for appropriate level in hybrid rendering model is suggested. In recent research, we proposed a hybrid rendering model which is applying a proper shading method to each of polygons consisting of an object. The number of polygon for Gouraud shading and that for flat shading should be considered according to a current device performance and system environments. Therefore, this paper suggests the method to calculate automatically a proper resolution of a mesh of object and a proper level of mixture between Gouraud and a flat shading, considering a current device performance and a preference of end-user. The rendering model is so simple that it can be an efficient replacement to reduce a real-time rendering time since it provides automatically multi-level of rendering resolution to an executing environments. Moreover, it can be adopted in real-time adaptive service for 3D graphic contents like a graphic game under various device environments.

  • Military wargame simulation models must support the HLA in order to facilitate interoperability with other simulations, and using parallel simulation engines offer efficiency in reducing system overhead generated by propelling interoperability. However, legacy military simulation model engines process events using sequential event-driven method. This is due to problems generated by parallel processing such as synchronous reference to global data domains. Additionally. using legacy simulation platforms result in insufficient utilization of multiple CPUs even if a multiple CPU system is under use. Therefore, in this paper, we propose conversing the simulation engine to an object model-based parallel simulation engine to ensure military wargame model's improved system processing capability, synchronous reference to global data domains, external simulation time processing, and the sequence of parallel-processed events during a crash recovery. The converted parallel simulation engine is designed and implemented to enable parallel execution on a multiple CPU system (SMP).

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate performance characteristics. in the success of team attack during volleyball competition. For this, real game was analyzed using S-VHS video camera for three dimensional cinematography. The contents of this research were receive to set time, set to spike time, setter moving distance, ball position during set and attacker's relative ball position during jump and spike, and open area at spike. Among the various kinematical factors considered in this study, the ball height relative spiker and open area were found to be related to offensive performance. This finding implies that although their direct impact were not significant the other factors could have indirect impact on offensive performance by increasing open area. Thus, receiver, setter, assistant attacker, and main attacker should practice for successful performance in each stage. Lastly, it is necessary to develop kinematic variables to evaluate performance characteristics of players. Further study may consider the best defense position against the attack of the opponent player.

  • Authoring AR(augmented-reality) contents not only takes too much time and cost, but also needs the help of professionals in the areas of computer science, VR(virtual reality), AR, 3D computer graphics, computer vision, etc. In this paper, we analyze the difficulties(inherent to developing AR contents) into three problems and present a formalized authoring approach for AR contents. The proposed approach is based on the Statecharts, which was originally designed for modeling real-time embedded systems. In order to apply he Statecharts to modeling AR contents, we defined the semantics of the Statecharts and various events for interaction modeling.

  • The motives of human beings provide reasons to set goals and carry them out. Accordingly, to realize the behaviors of agents similar to human beings, research using motives has been actively conducted. However, it is difficult for this research to cope with unexpected situations in a dynamic environment as does the research in a static environment. Agents can set goals by themselves in the dynamic environment. Furthermore, the goals that are finally selected shall be quickly and definitely set. This study suggests how to determine motives using them in order to enable agents to set goals by themselves. The suggested method compares motives generated by recognizing the environment by phase in real time and identifies the appropriateness of this method. The identified motives are used to set up the goals of agents and to practice the goals. For the appropriateness of the suggested method, the experiment to compare the behaviors of agents with different features in a virtual environment was conducted. The results of the experiment indicate that when several motives are generated, the agents found the most appropriate motive in the present situation. Accordingly, the agents were able to set up optimum goals so that they could cope with dynamic environments using the final motives identified by the determination of motives.
