  • In the proto design stage of a new car, the performance of an occupant protection system is often evaluated by CAE instead of the real test. CAE predicts and recommends the appropriate design values hence reducing the number of the real tests. However, the existing researches using CAE in predicting the performances do not consider the uncertainties of parameters, in which inconsistency between the actual test results and CAE exists. In this research, the optimization procedure of a protection system such as airbag and load limiter is suggested for the frontal collision. The DACE modeling known as Kriging interpolation is introduced to obtain the meta model of the system followed by the tabu search method to determine a global optimum. Finally, the distribution of a suggested design is determined through the Monte-Carlo Simulation.

  • It is a great number of problem for the man to perform maintenance and repairing work owing to radioactive effusion for a nuclear fuel and the pollution of an related equipment in nuclear power plants. Therefore, the vision processing system presented in this research requires to maintain the good performance under the radioactive circumstances and to safety the real time processing system presented in this research requires to maintain the good performance under the radioactive circumstances and to safety the real time processing. The proposed vision scheme adapts the gradient and Laplacian operator to perform the high speed processing in an edge detection and the centroid formula at each direction to obtain the center position of a holes using DSPs

  • Walking is one of the most natural and repetitive actions we do in our daily lives. However, many modern people have problems with shoulders, back and spine due to incorrect walking habits. Therefore, it is becoming important to diagnose and correct wrong walking habits, for example, in-toeing, out-toeing, etc. early, which can be a precursor to various diseases. In this study, we developed the system to diagnose and prevent incorrect gait by grasping and analyzing the angle and muscle activity of the foot according to the typical wrong gait type through MPU 6050 acceleration sensor and the surface EMG sensor. Through a smartphone, numerical and visualization screens based on walking can be used to represent the angle of the feet, real-time EMG values, and even the number of steps. The correction effect was enhanced by improving the cognitive ability through a system that allows individuals to easily diagnose gait through smart devices and improve them according to their own problems.

  • Speedup is often used to show scalability, but its classical definition fails to explain some real measurements such as superlinear speedup. This leads to scaled speedup which scales other system parameters as number of rocessors changes. In this paper, scaled speedup and architectural speedup are introduced and superlinear speedup is explained with its cause.

  • The distribution cost increases constantly because of the growth of yield, globalization of accounts and the generalization of e-commerce. This paper is concerned with scheduling on the allocation of workers to maximize the amount of order process in warehouse logistics system. The problem is to determine the number of operators in each process by the sequential time zone. We considered that the number of operators is restricted to the current level and also the process time is changed by putting some resources into the process. In each stage, we suggest some considerations for the allocation of workers and estimate the maximum amount of order process of the alternatives. We analyzed the alternatives using simulation s/w Arena with real cases.

  • In many real-world simulation studies the several measures of performance are of interest simultaneously. There exist very limited number of studies that explain and suggest the methods or procedures of inferencing the system performances at the same time. This study presents a procedure for determining the number of simulation observations required to achieve the prespecified confidence level for several measures of system performance. Mean values are selected as the measures, for instance, expected ordering cost, expected holding cost, and expected shortage cost for a given period of time in the study of inventory problems. Basically, the batch means approach is applied and extended to develop an algorithm to carry out the procedure handling more than single parameter. The efficacy of the presented method is assessed through the experiments. The empirical results based on some stochastic systems such as queues and inventory problems show that the suggested method produces as excellent result in terms of the precision of estimated means and the number of observations required.

  • This paper proposes a high speed digital neuron processor which uses the residue number system, making the high speed operation possible without carry propagation,. Consisting of the MAC(Multiplier and with Accumulator) operation unit, quotient operation unit and sigmoid function operation unit, the neuron processor is designed through 0.8$\mu$m CMOS fabrication. The result shows that the new implemented neuron processor can run at the speed of 19.2 nSec and the size can be reduced to 1/2 compared to the neuron processor implemented by the real number operation unit.

  • This paper deals with the relationship between zeros and step response of the second and third order LTI (Linear Time Invariant) SISO (Single-Input and Single-Output) systems with complex poles. Although it has been known that the maximum number of local extrema is less than the number of zeros in the system with only real poles[8], some cases with complex poles are shown in this paper to have many local extrema. This paper proposes monotone nondecreasing conditions and describes the relationship between the transient response and the number of local extrema in step response with each region of zeros.
