난류유동 해석을 위한 νt-κ-γ 모델의 개발 (Development of νt-κ-γ Turbulence Model for Computation of Turbulent Flows)

  • A new eddy viscosity equation was formulated from assumption of turbulence length scale equation and specific dissipation ratio equation. Then, a set of turbulence model equations for the turbulent kinetic energy ${\kappa}$, the viscosity ${\nu}_t$, and the intermittency factor ${\gamma}$ is proposed by considering the entrainment effect. Closure coefficients are determined by experimental data and resorting to numerical optimization. Present model has been applied to compute four representative cases of free shear flows and successfully compared with experimental data. In particular, the spreading rate, the centreline mean velocity and the profiles of intermittency are calculated with improved accuracy. Also, the proposed ${\nu}_t-{\kappa}-{\gamma}$ model was applied to channel flow by considering the wall effect and the results show good agreements with the Direct Numerical Simulation data.

  • In order to design efficient and effective pressure cooling system for fruits and vegetables, a numerical model for temperature prediction of fruits was developed. This model was extended to study the various factors affecting product cooling time, such as product depth, approach air temperature, entering air velocity and initial product temperature. Also, selection of these factors were examined with respect to the efficiency of the pressure cooling system, the overall precooling cost and the final quality of the product. When designing a pressure cooling system for a particular product, the range of the factors must be selected carefully according to the thermal and physiological properties.

공기정화 살균기 개발 및 성능검증 연구 (A Study on Development and Performance Test of an Air Purify-sterilizer)

  • The air purity-sterilizer was developed and the CFD and experimental studies were carried out in order to investigate the performance of a air purity-sterilizer. Overhaul and exchange efficiency were increased by the modularization of the air purity-sterilizer. The good performance was validated by the hot-wire measurements and flow simulations in the room. Mean velocities at the exit of the air purity-sterilizer were 0.91, 1.62, 1.99, and 6.14 m/sec according to the fan mode. And the flow visualization of pured air was shown by using CFD flow simulation in the room of 24, 50 pyeong. The results show that the air purity-sterilizer has a high performance enough to produce air purity-sterilizer on a commercial scale.

  • A rigid-viscoplastic finite element method has been used for modeling superplastic stretch/blow process design to improve thickness distribution. Punch velocity-time relationship of the stretch forming and pressure-time cycle of the blow forming for a given strain rate are calculated. A superplastic material is assumed to be isotropic and a plane-strain line element based on membrane approximation is employed for the formulation. The effects of the width, corner radius and height of the punch during stretch forming are examined for the final thickness distribution, and the process design to improve thickness distribution can be established.

체계적인 헬리콥터 내추락성 설계개념 연구 (A Study on the Systematic Crashworthiness Design Concept)

  • Crashworthiness design concept in the helicopter development is still under evolutionary stage. Survivability in the event of a crash was remarkably improved and this fact can be recognized by the analysis results on the AH-64 Apache and UH-60 Black Hawk crash accidents. Those two models are the first ones in which the crashworthiness design concept was applied with a full-scale requirement. Here we need to notice that under-design of the system results in unexpected injuries and deaths while over-design of the crashworthy elements result in unnecessary weight and costs. If landing gear system would be verified to have enough energy absorption capability in the specified vertical velocity interval, then design requirements of the airframe, fuel system and seats could be modified positively. In this paper, the right and systematic crashworthiness design concept is reviewed on the assumption that design requirements of some crashworthy elements could be partially tailored.

하이브리드 마이크로/나노 PIV 시스템 개발 (Development of Hybrid Micro/Nano PIV system)

  • In this study, a novel hybrid micro/nano PIV system combining defocusing and TIRFM technique has been developed for the multiscale flow measurement. With the developed system, both far and near field velocity fields have been measured simultaneously in a 2D straight microchannel and the particle trajectories were extracted by the nearest tracking algorithm. The shear rate values taken from experimental results have been estimated by comparing with the analytical solution of 2D Poiseuille flow and it is confirmed that the result shows good agreement with the theoretical value.

Structure and Properties of Syndiotactic Polystyrene Fibers Prepared in High-speed Melt Spinning Process

  • High-speed melt spinning of syndiotactic polystyrene was carried out using high and low molecular weight poly­mers, HM s-PS and LM s-PS, at the throughput rates of 3 and 6 g/min. The effect of take-up velocity on the structure and properties of as-spun fibers was investigated. Wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) patterns of the as-spun fibers revealed that the orientation-induced crystallization started to occur at the take-up velocities of 2-3 km/min. The crystal modification was a-form. Birefringence of as-spun fibers showed negative value, and the absolute value of birefringence increased with an increase in the take-up velocity. The cold crystallization temperature analyzed through the differential scanning calorimetry (OSC) decreased with an increase in the take-up velocity in the low speed region, whereas as the melting temperature increased after the on-set of orientation-induced crystallization. It was found that the fiber structure development proceeded from lower take-up velocities when the spinning conditions of higher molecular weight and lower throughput rate were adopted. The highest tensile modulus of 6.5 GPa was obtained for the fibers prepared at the spinning conditions of LM s-PS, 6 g/min and 5 km/min, whereas the highest tensile strength of 160 MPa was obtained for the HM s-PS fibers at the take-up velocity of 2 km/min. Elongation at break of as-spun fibers showed an abrupt increase, which was regarded as the brittle-duc­tile transition, in the low speed region, and subsequently decreased with an increase in the take-up velocity. There was a uni­versal relation between the thermal and mechanical properties of as-spun fibers and the birefringence of as-spun fibers when the fibers were still amorphous. The orientation-induced crystallization was found to start when the birefringence reached -0.02. After the starting of the orientation-induced crystallization, thermal and mechanical properties of as-spun fibers with similar level of birefringence varied significantly depending on the processing conditions.

블레이드 타공에 따른 수차의 유동해석 (CFD Analysis on the Hydro Turbine by the Existence of Blade Holes)

  • 국내 대다수의 하수처리장 방류수로는 2.0 m 미만의 낙차를 형성하고 있고 유량이 지속적이며 변동이 크지 않다는 점을 고려할 때, 저낙차 조건에서도 안정적인 전력 생산과 효율을 유지할 수 있는 소수력 발전장치 개발이 시급히 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 저유속 조건에서 소수력 에너지 생산 효율 증진을 위한 항력식 수직축 수차를 개발하기 위하여 전산 유체 동역학(CFD) 기법을 이용하여 수치해석을 수행하였다. 즉, 2.0 m/s 미만의 유속 조건에서 수차 블레이드의 타공 유무에 따른 블레이드 압력변화와 내부유동을 분석하였다. 수치해석 결과, 수차 블레이드의 타공 유무에 따른 압력분포는 타공이 있는 수차 블레이드에 발생하는 압력이 타공이 없는 수차 블레이드보다 약 5.1 % 감소되는 것으로 나타났다. 수조와 수차 블레이드 주변의 내부유동을 분석한 결과, 벡터의 분포로부터 유동속도가 변화하는 것을 알 수 있었으며, 타공이 있는 수차 블레이드의 유속이 타공이 없는 수차 블레이드의 유속보다 5.6 % 감소하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 따라서 수차 블레이드에 타공을 형성하는 것이 구조안전성 측면에서 도움이 될 것으로 판단된다.

PC-Crash를 이용한 SUV의 전복사고 거동 및 충돌속도 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Rollover Behavior of SUV and Collision Velocity Prediction using PC-Crash Program)

  • 최근 자동차 교통량의 증가로 인해 차량 전복사고가 급증하여 이에 따른 인명피해가 증가해왔으며, 이를 방지하기 위한 차량충돌 실험장비 및 해석프로그램 개발 등의 다양한 기술이 진보되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 적용한 차량모델은 미국 FORD사의 EXPLORER 차종이고, Rollover 해석은 차량충돌해석에 상용되고 있는 PC-Crash 프로그램을 이용하여 SUV의 전복사고 거동 및 충돌속도를 예측하였다. 그 해석결과로 FMVSS No. 208 법규를 통한 SUV차량의 실제 Rollover 거동과 비교할 때 유사한 결과를 보여주었으며, 충돌속도 및 롤각의 특성은 1000 msec 이후부터는 다소 오차율이 커지는 경향을 나타냈다. 그리고 NHTSA의 데이터베이스를 활용하여 고찰한 결과로 충돌속도 15~77 km/h, 충돌각도 $22{\sim}74^{\circ}$ 범위에서 전복사고가 가장 많이 발생함을 나타냈고, 실제 사고사례를 적용함으로써 차량 출발 위치, Roof 파손위치, 정지위치를 재현시켜 차량 Roof가 파손될 때 차량속도 및 충돌시간을 예측할 수 있었다.
