  • The nonlinear characteristics for the hinge of a deployable missile control fin are investigated experimentally. The nonlinearity is caused by a worn or loose hinge and manufacturing tolerance and cannot be eliminated completely. The structural nonlinearity has an effect on the static and dynamic characteristics of the control fin. Therefore, it is necessary to establish the accurate nonlinear model for the hinge of the control fin. In the present study the existence of nonlinearities in the hinge is confirmed from the frequency response experiments such as tip random excitation and base sine sweep. Using the system identification method, especially, “Force-State Mapping Technique”, the types of nonlinearities are identified and the nonlinear hinge model of the control fin is established.

  • This study is to suggest a Probabilistic design determining configurations of slider air bearings with the dimensional manufacturing tolerances of the ABS. The probabilistic design problem is formulated to minimize the variation in flying height from a target value while satisfying the desired probabilities keeping the pitch and roll angles within a suitable range. The proposed approach first selves the deterministic optimization problem. Then, beginning with this solution, the RBDO is continued with the probabilistic constraints affected by the random variables with a fixed standard deviation in normal distribution. The RBDO results are directly compared with the values of the initial design and the results of the deterministic optimization, respectively. The reliability analyses are performed by the descriptive sampling (DS) to show the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed approach. It is demonstrated that the Proposed RBDO approach can efficiently obtain an optimum solution satisfying all the desired probabilistic constraints.

  • Recently, dynamic system has been enlarged and is normally exposed to various types of disturbance. Thus designing controller for these dynamic systems under random disturbance is not practically easy. As a result, the exact analysis for the system which is exposed to various irregular disturbance is quite important. In order to perform analysis, conventional BMR(balance model reduction) method is adopted and applied to moment equation in stochastic domain. Reliable reduced order system model has been obtained.

  • Most of the study on system identification has been carried out using input/output relation in physical domain. However identification concept of stochastic system has not been reported up to now. Interest is focused to identify an unknown dynamic system under random external disturbances which is not possible to measure. A concept to identify the system parameters in stochastic domain is proposed and implemented in terms of simulation. Attempt has been made to identify the system parameters in inverse manner in stochastic domain based on system output only. Simulation is conducted to reveal quite noticeable performance of the proposed concept.

Because these structures extremely susceptib environmental loads, these random loadings u produce large deflection and acceleration on structures. Vibration control system of structur becoming an integral part of the structural syst the next generation of tall building. The proposed control system is applied to s degree of structure with mass damping and com with conventional PID and neural network PID system.

Dynamic characteristics of structures with multiple tuned mass dampers

  • Effectiveness of multiple tuned mass dampers (MTMD) in suppressing the dynamic response of base excited structure for first mode vibration is investigated. The effectiveness of the MTMD is expressed by the ratio of the root mean square (RMS) displacement of the structure with MTMD to corresponding displacement without MTMD. The frequency content of base excitation is modelled as a broad-band stationary random process. The MTMD's with uniformly distributed natural frequencies are considered for this purpose. A parametric study is conducted to investigate the fundamental characteristics of the MTMD's and the effect of important parameters on the effectiveness of the MTMD's. The parameters include: the fundamental characteristics of the MTMD system such as damping, mass ratio, total number of MTMD, tuning frequency ratio, frequency spacing of the dampers and frequency content of the base excitation. It has been shown that MTMD can be more effective and more robust than a single TMD with equal mass and damping ratio.

Vibration-Robust Attitude and Heading Reference System Using Windowed Measurement Error Covariance

  • In this paper, a new technique for attitude and heading reference system (AHRS) using low-cost MEMS sensors of the gyroscope, accelerometer, and magnetometer is addressed particularly in vibration environments. The motion of MEMS sensors interact with the scale factor and cross-coupling errors to produce random errors by the harsh environment. A new adaptive attitude estimation algorithm based on the Kalman filter is developed to overcome these undesirable side effects by analyzing windowed measurement error covariance. The key idea is that performance degradation of accelerometers, for example, due to linear vibrations can be reduced by the proposed measurement error covariance analysis. The computed error covariance is utilized to the measurement covariance of Kalman filters adaptively. Finally, the proposed approach is verified by using numerical simulations and experiments in an acceleration phase and/or vibrating environments.

  • A dynamic design process was proposed for the design of the secondary suspension characteristics of a magnetically levitated vehicle(MAGLEV). It is based on a ride quality-secondary stroke trade-off. For the vertical vibration analysis, a magnetically levitated vehicle was simplified as 2 d.o.f. linear model, and FRA's class-6-track irregularities were considered as exciting disturbances. The optimum value of airspring stiffness and damping coefficient for the secondary suspension of a prototype MAGLEV was determined using this proposed design process.

  • Dynamic characteristics are investigated when a nonlinear system showing periodic and chaotic responses under harmonic excitation is exposed to random perturbation. About two well potential problem, probability of homoclinic bifurcation is estimated using stochastic generalized Meinikov process and quantitive characteristics are investigated by calculation of Lyapunov exponent. Critical excitaion is calculated by various assumptions about Gaussian Melnikov process. To verify the phenomenon graphically Fokker-Planck equation is solved numerically and the original nonlinear equation is numerically simulated. Numerical solution of Fokker-Planck equation is calculated on Poincare section and noise induced chaos is studied by solving the eigenvalue problem of discretized probability density function.
