  • There are several international standards, established by IEC, for RAMS management of railway system. Those int'l standards are described only total RAMS management, but RAM and safety activities have dissimilar characteristics. In this paper, we suggest the separated RAMS architecture with RAM and safety activity for railway signaling system.

  • 철도신호시스템은 열차의 운행을 책임지는 바이탈한 제어장치로서, 실제 사용 전에 충분한 시험을 통해 그 기능 안전성이 검증되어야 한다. 지금까지는 대부분 실험실에서 시뮬레이터에 의한 개발한 철도신호시스템의 검증을 수행 후 철도현장에 설치하여 다른 장치와 운용성 테스팅 단계를 거치게 된다. 이러한 접근방법은 일부 제한된 범위에서 상호운용성이 검증되고 있어, 보다 체계적인 상호 운용성 검증이 요구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 철도신호시스템의 상호운용성 검증을 위한 단계를 3단계로 제시하고, 각 단계별 검증 방법을 설명한다. 또한 최종단계인 3단계에 적용을 위한 시험방법 및 테스팅 도구를 제안하였다.

  • Many function of railway signalling system which is in charge of most core function in a railway system are being operated by the software according to the development of computer technology. Accordingly, the source code testing to verify the safety of the railway signalling system software becomes to be more important, and related international standards highly recommend verifications on the source code also. For this reason, several related studies on vital source code verification were executed from several years ago in Korea. This paper performed tests through the application to railway signalling system being applied to the existing actual domestic railway sites through automated testing tools for coding rules of signalling system software and another signaling system software under development in Korea recently, and analyzed their results.

IEC 61508에 의한 열차제어장치용 PES 구성에 관한 연구 (IEC 61508 into PES for Train Control Systems)

  • PES have been recently required to implement railway industry for its application flexibility. The PES should be commensurated with railway safety requirements. It achieved its safety through redundant PES. The redundant systems run with voting functions. The successful major voting result becomes the output of the redundant system. The redundant system have to be synchronized to vote each output results. This paper proposed an algorithm for synchronizing and a voter. The proposed algorithm and the voter are verified using simulation.

  • Recent advances in computer technology have brought more dependence on software to train control systems. Hence, the safety assurance of the vital software running on the railway system is very critical task and yet, not many works have been done. While much efforts have been reported to improve electronic hardware's safety, not so much systematic approaches to evaluate software's safety, especially for the vital software running on board train controllers. In this paper, we have developed the static software testing tool for railway signaling, especially Fagan Inspection supporting tool. This static testing tool for railway signaling can be utilized at the assessment phase, and also usefully at the software development stage also. It is anticipated that it will be greatly helpful for the evaluation on the software for railway signalling system.

  • As safety-related regulations for signaling systems are standardized to IEC 61508/62278/62425, and others at the international level, safety activities and its assessment are required to be performed. And also there is the need to develop technologies for safety improvement to secure safety signaling systems in terms of technologies for safety activities on each life-cycle. In this paper we have developed the safety activity processes and technologies each steps of proposed processes respectively for railway signaling systems. And the proposed process and technologies are applied to the safety activities for mock-up signaling systems.

  • This paper discuss advanced safety in the railway signaling system. The specified methods and HAZOP about Hazard identification and analysis of railway signalling system were studied, and loss analysis and ALARP model in order to calculate safety as a standard capacity were proposed. It was also resulted from Hazard identification, analysis and evaluation by applying advanced safety to the railway signalling system.

  • 철도신호장치는 열차의 진로 및 간격제어를 수행하여 위험측 오동작이 발생하는 경우 열차충돌 또는 탈선 등 심각한 사고의 원인이 되므로 철도시스템의 안전핵심장치이다. 철도적용 신뢰성, 가용성, 유지보수성, 안전성에 대한 국제표준에서는 철도신호장치와 같은 안전필수장치에 대해서는 기능안전을 보증토록 하고 있으며, 기능안전은 장치의 고장률을 통해 정량적으로 신뢰성과 안전성을 예측 및 입증토록 권고한다. 기술발전과 함께 철도신호장치의 첨단화가 가속화되고 있으며, 과거 실용사례가 있는 장치에 대해서도 운영시나리오를 반영한 특화된 사용자 요구사항이 요구되어 사실상 철도신호장치의 신뢰성과 안전성은 적용사례별로 차이가 발생한다. 따라서 철도신호장치의 신뢰도는 국제표준에 따라 사용시점의 초기고장률을 표준에 의해 예측하고 일정기간 영업운전 동안 발생된 고장정보를 통해 예측치를 입증해야 한다. 본 논문은 신뢰도 예측에 의한 초기고장률 입증을 효과적으로 수행하기 위한 방안을 제시하며 운행 중 발생된 고장정보의 수집과 통계처리 방법을 제시한다.

  • The activities of managing and controlling the configuration of a system component over its life cycle are critical tasks in developing a high safety system as well as general system development. These configuration management activities should be defined through the management plan at the beginning of the life cycle, and should be performed continuously and systematically until the end of the project after the system or product development is completed. In this study, the configuration management process applied in the development of high safety railway signaling system was introduced and an efficient application proposals of it was proposed. In particular, configuration management through the establishment of a configuration management system based on computer tools is one of the important activities of maintaining the configuration integrity of the system or product.

  • This paper suggests the advanced reliability assessment tool for railway signaling Hot-Standby sparing system. Existing reliability assessment for Hot-Standby sparing system controller is done by using single module mean failure rate based on approximated Hot standby sparing system function. Although approximated Hot standby sparing system function can be applied to various Hot standby sparing system, however, it is not able to reflect the exact system structure. In this paper, we suggest the advanced reliability function by identifying changeover-related failure factors and common failure mode which is not considered in existing approximated Hot standby sparing system reliability function via developing Hot standby sparing system model for railway signaling and applying FMECA to this model. Also. we compare reliability assessment results for model system to reliability assessment for existing system.
