In mobile wireless communications, there is a new approach that uses the lacking spectrum efficiently. A cognitive radio is a device that can changes its transmitter parameters based on interaction with the environment in which it operates. At present, the wireless communication standard for wireless device contains power-saving modes or energy efficient mechanisms which cuts off the power of transmitter and receiver for power-saving. However, in cognitive radio environment, every device has the Quiet Period for searching channel and existing energy-saving method is not appropriate to be adjust to cognitive radio environment. In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient MAC protocol of mobile device in cognitive radio environment and prove the improvement of proposed method.

Radio environment maps (REMs) and geolocation database represent an important source of information for the operation of cognitive radio networks, replacing or complementing spectrum sensing information. This paper provides a survey of methods for constructing the radio frequency layer of radio environment map (RF-REM) using distributed measurements of the signal levels at a given frequency in space and time. The signal level measurements can be obtained from fixed or mobile devices capable of sensing radio environment and sending this information to the REM. The signal measurements are complemented with information already stored in different REM content layers. The combined information is applied for estimation of the RF-REM layer. The RF-REM construction methods are compared, and their advantages and disadvantages with respect to the spatial distribution of signal measurements and computational complexity is given. This survey also indicates possible directions of further research in indirect RF-REM construction methods. It emphasizes that accurate RF-REM construction methods should in the best case support operation with random and clustered signal measurements, their operation should not be affected by measurements outliers, and it must estimate signal levels comparably on all RF-REM locations with moderate computational effort.

Recently, as the WHO IARC has classified radio frequency electromagnetic fields as possibly carcinogenic (group 2B) to humans, there is increasing concern about the health effects of overexposure from electromagnetic fields. Especially, the workers are exposed to higher level of electromagnetic radiation than the general public. As a result, in Europe, the protection guidelines for the worker are developed and the exposure of the worker is strictly controlled. In this paper, the EU directive, standards and guidelines of the EMF exposure for the worker were reviewed, and the exposure assessment of EMF was performed for the arc welding. Based on that, we propose a way to introduce a national policy to protect the workers from EMF exposure in working environment.

Wireless communication technology is becoming increasingly prevalent in smart factories, but the rise in the number of wireless devices can lead to interference in the ISM band and obstacles like metal blocks within the factory can weaken communication signals, creating radio shadow areas that impede information exchange. Consequently, accurately determining the radio communication coverage range is crucial. To address this issue, a Radio Environment Map (REM) can be used to provide information about the radio environment in a specific area. In this paper, a technique for estimating an indoor REM usinga mobile robot and machine learning methods is introduced. The mobile robot first collects and processes data, including the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) and location estimation. This data is then used to implement the REM through machine learning regression algorithms such as Extra Tree Regressor, Random Forest Regressor, and Decision Tree Regressor. Furthermore, the numerical and visual performance of REM for each model can be assessed in terms of R2 and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE).

As the second step of the real time monitoring system of the solar radio disturbance, we constructed a 2.8 GHz radio receiver with 500 MHz bandwith. Using the control and observing system (Yoon et al. 2004), we observed the Sun, and found some frequencies, which disturb the Solar radio flux to be observed. DMB and aiport control frequencies are identified as responsible for this disturbance. As well as the testing the receiver, the measurment of the radio environment at 2.8 GHz with 500 MHz bandwith are carried out around Chungbuk National University. In fact, the radio power of the two frequencies, 2.649 GHz and 2.874 GHz is so high that we can not observe the Solar radio signal at 2.8 GHz. We report some results of this measurment and suggest the method to overcome this problem. We conclude also that the frequecies, which are important for the astronomy, should be protected in the future.

Although the link between activity in the nuclei of galaxy and galactic mergers has been under scrutiny for several years, it is still unclear to what extent and for which populations of active galaxies merger-triggered activity is relevant. The environment of AGN allows an indirect probe of the past merger history and future merger probability of these systems, suffering less from sensitivity issues while extending to higher redshifts, compared to traditional morphological studies of AGN host galaxies. Here we present results from our investigation of the environment of radio selected sources out to redshift z=2. We employ the first data release J-band catalog from the new near-IR Infrared Medium-Deep Survey (IMS) and 1.4 GHz radio data from the Faint Images of the Radio Sky at Twenty-cm (FIRST) survey and a deep dedicated VLA survey of the VIMOS field, covering a combined total of ~20 sq. degrees. Given the flux limit of the combined radio catalog (0.1 mJy), we probe a radio luminosity range of 10^36-10^44 erg/s. Using the second and fifth closest neighbor density parameters, we test whether active galaxies inhabit denser environments and study these overdensities in terms of both distance to the AGN and its luminosity. We find evidence for a sub-population of radio-selected AGN that resides in significantly overdense environments at small scales, although we do not find significant overdensities for the bulk of our sample. We do not recover any dependence between the AGN radio-luminosity and overdensities. We show that radio-AGN inhabiting the most underdense environments in the field have vigorous ongoing star formation. We interpret these results in terms of the triggering and fuelling mechanism of radio-AGN.

The radio field environment is very different according to frequency band, therefore communication condition is equation that VHF is passed by direct radiation and HF is via reflect radiation in ionosphere. Load a ship according to the enforcement regulations of the ships safety act have specificated the radio equipment that should be operating. This paper have analysed by the simulation program about radio field environment for research the communications condition, which is VHF & HF band in domestic coastal. We have Predicted to radio field environment and communications condition using the data of analysis and domestic radio regulation regard to coast navigational ship. Therefore have proposed the necessity for rationally plan on improvement the radio regulation and network cooperation of VHF radio station.

V2X environment is the most popular part of the C-ITS based on the high technologies. To evaluate V2X environment technologies, radio communication range and market penetration rate of V2X vehicle are used. This paper studies the V2X environment considering various traffic congestion level, radio communication range and market penetration rate of V2X vehicle using the microscopic simulation (VISSIM) based on proper parameters and algorithm. In conclusion, V2X environment can reduce the congestion in proper traffic volume. However, if traffic volume is almost near the capacity, even V2X environment can't relieve the road condition. Furthermore, increase of the radio communication range does not always mean the decrease of the congestion and even with the small market penetration rate, it can also have an impact on the V2X environment. This result will be the foundation for the V2X environment much better.
Analytic modeling and computational simulation for the protection of DTV from cognitive radio interference are performed. Protection is achieved by using the protection ratio, which is derived through system modeling and its analysis. On the frequency coordination between digital TV and cognitive radio, an analysis in a co-channel environment, in a rural area in Korea, is performed.
In this paper, the proposed a narrowband interference cancellation techniques for the frequence sharing of Ultra wideband Impulse Radio communication system and narrowband communication system. In this system, the narrowband communication signals can cause intolerant interferences to Impulse Radio signals. In this paper, Ultra wideband Impulse Radio system have been analyzed in AWGN, MAI and NI(Narrowband Interference) environment. Also, performance improvement has been obtained by adopting an adaptive notch filtering scheme using Complex Filter Bank and CCI canceller. The results show that there is a substantial enhancement in performance by employing the adaptive notch filtering and/or CCI canceller.
