  • This paper shows the temperature rise of the high voltage GIS bus bar. The temperature rise in GIS bus bar is due to Joule‘s losses in the conductor and the induced eddy current in the tank. The power losses of a bus bar calculated from the magnetic field analysis are used as the input data for the thermal analysis to predict the temperature. The required analysis is a couple-field Multiphysics that accounts for the interactions between three-dimensional AC harmonic magnetic and fluid fields. The heat transfer calculation using the fluid analysis is done by considering the natural convection and the radiation from the tank to the atmosphere. Consequently, because temperature distributions by couple-field Multiphysics (coupled magnetic-fluid) have good agreement with results of temperature rise test, the proposed couple-field Multiphysics technique is likely to be used in a conduction design of the single-pole and three pole-encapsulated bus bar in GIS..

  • A numerical study on swirling pulverized coal combustion in an axisymmetric enclosure is carried out by applying the 2-phase weighted sum of gray gases model (WSGGM) approach with the discrete ordinate method (DOM) to model the radiative heat transfer equation. In the radiative transfer equation, the same polynomial equation and coefficients for weighting factors as those for gas are adopted for the coal/char particles as a function of partial pressure and particle temperature. The Eulerian balance equations for mass, momentum, energy, and species mass fractions are adopted with the standard and RNG k-${\varepsilon}$ turbulence model, whereas the Lagrangian approach is used for the particulate phase. The eddy-dissipation model is employed for the reaction rate for gaseous mixture, and the single-step and two-step first-order reaction model for the devolatilization process for coal. Special attention is given to establish the thermal boundary conditions on radiative transfer equation By comparing the numerical results with experimental ones, the radiation model used here is confirmed and found to provide an alternative for simulating the radiative transfer.

  • This study was done to ivestigate the fabrics thatminimized harmfulness of UVB(ultraviolet B) and that might product Vit. {{{{ {D }`_{3 } ^{ } }} by UVB. Twelve female subjects wearing in three different types i.e fabric A(UVB 100% protection) fabric B(UVB 50% protection) and bikinii were exposed to outdoor environment (Air Temp : 25℃, 42% R,H Air velocity : 0.13m/s UV does :6KJ/m2) Blood samples were taken 24 hours before the after the experiment in order to examine concentration of vit.{{{{ {D }`_{3 } ^{ } }} in the blood. During the experiment axillary temperature skin temperature of 7 areas(forehead Chest Upper arm, Hand Thigh Lower leg, Foot) were measured. The more irradiated areas by UVB were the more the concentration of serum 25(OH){{{{ {D }`_{3 } ^{ } }} were significantly. Mean skin temperature was significantly low levekl in wearing the fabric of UVB 50% protection (p<0.001) Axillary temperature was significantly high level in wearing the fabric of UVB 50% protection (p<0.001). Therefore the fabric of UVB 50% protection intercepts the radiation and has advantage to give off body heat over other fabrics

  • A swelling clay should remain physically and chemically stable for a long time to perform its functions as a buffer material of a high-level waste (HLW) repository. The longevity issues in the swelling clay were reviewed to evaluate their importance in the performance of a repository. The review results suggest that an elevated temperature due to decay heat, groundwater chemistry, high pH environment by concrete, organic matter and microbes, radiation, and mechanical disturbance might significantly affect the long-term performance of a swelling clay as a buffer material. This paper will be used as basic informations to design the swelling clay buffer for a HLW repository.

  • A one-dimensional heat conduction problem in cylindrical coordinate system was solved using Crank-Nicolson finite difference method to predicting the temperature distribution in rice storage bin with wall insulator. The model can simulate the grain temperatures in insulated round bins using the input data of initial grain temperature. ambient air temperature, wind velocity, solar radiation on a horizontal surface, and thermal properties of grain, bin wall, wall insulator, insulator cover, and air. Temperatures were collected at the bin center, 0.65m in radial direction from the center, and near the bin wall in 2.7m diameter bin filled with rough rice to depth of 3.0m were used to validate the simulation model. Grain temperatures predicted by the model were in very good agreement with the measured temperatures. The residual mean square error between measured and predicted grain temperatures at the bin center was $1.38^{\circ}C$.

  • In January the clo-values show two characteristic patterns on the insulation, Samjiyon has the highest clo-values while Changjon has the lowest in North Korea, and the coastal areas are lower than in the interior areas. This regional difference is a result of predominant temperature, wind speed and orographic effects. Particularly, in August the coastal areas are generally lower than the interior areas because of orographic effects(wind direction, wind speed). All regions except Samjiyon legions and northern interior regions have low values during the period from the early August to the middle of August. These are largely derived from the stable weather with the highest temperature, humidity and strong radiation by the North Pacific Anticyclone appears in Eastern Asia.

  • In previous studies on LPG siting in Korea, the scope have not included the probability of the secondary events of adjacent LPG tanks or structures from an explosion source. Therefore, it is essential to first identify the phenomenon which can be caused by BLEVE and then, properly assess their effects to each target including secondary event. In this study, we calculated the effects from a potential BLEVE of 15 ton LPG tank causing damages of storage tanks (LPG), structures and human using Phast ver. 6.7 and then suggested three risk zones (Zone I, II, III) assuming the consequences such as overpressure, heat radiation and missile effect by fragments. Zone I and II are divided at the line of 50% occurrence of the secondary event. Zone II and III are divided by Individual Risk(IR). The zone approach in this study can be used for more effective and safer Land Use Planning (LUP) for the future.

  • The mold transformers have been widely used in underground substations in large building and have some advantages in comparison to oil-transformer, that is low fire risk, excellent environmental compatibility, compact size and high reliability. In addition, the application of mold transformer for outdoor is possible due to development of epoxy resin. The mold transformer generally has cooling duct between low voltage coil and high voltage coil. A mold transformer made by one body molding method has been developed for small size and ow loss, but it needs some cooling method because heat radiation between each winding is difficult. The life of transformer is significantly dependent on the thermal behavior in windings. Many transformer designers have calculated temperature distribution and hot spot point by finite element method(FEM) to analyze winding temperature rise. In this paper, The thermal analysis of pole mount mold transformer with one body molding by duct condition is investigated and the test result of temperature rise is compared with simulation data.

  • The greenhouse heating system using solar energy has been realized in the protective agriculture in this study in order to analyse the thermal energy characteristics of the system the effects of ambient air temperature, solar radiation, relative humidities and water content of ambient air on the greenhouse air temperature were investigated through computer simulation experimental analysis for validation of the simulation. The results from this study are summarized as follows: 1) The expected values of inside air temperature for the system solar energy were very much close to the experimental values. 2) In the system using solar energy, the expected values of daytime surface temperature of soil by computer simulation were very much similar to the measured values, but those of nighttime were higher than the measured value by almost $2.5^{\circ}C$. 3) Heat loss of daytime was found to be larger than that of night time as much as 2.0 to 4.2 times for the system using solar energy. 4) In the system using solar energy. while the ambient air temperature varied between $-7^{\circ}C$ and $-3.8^{\circ}C$, the temperature of the inside air was maintained between $0^{\circ}C$ and $22^{\circ}C$. 5) At the minimum ambient temperature of $-7^{\circ}C$, the temperature of the inside air was $0^{\circ}C$.

  • Heliostat in the tower type solar thermal power plant is a sun tracking mirror system to reflect the solar energy to the receiver and the optical performance of it affects to the efficiency of whole power plant most significantly. Thus a solid understanding of heliostat's energy concentration characteristics is the most important step in designing of the heliostat field and the whole power plant. The work presented here is the analysis of energy concentration characteristics of heliostat used in 200kW solar thermal power plant, where the receiver located at 43m high in tower has $2{\times}2$m rectangular shape. The heliostat reflective surface is formed by 4 of $1{\times}1$m flat plate mirror facet and the mirror facet is mounted on the spherical frame. The direct normal incident radiation models in vernal equinox, summer solstice, autumnal equinox and winter solstice are first derived from the actually measured data. Then the intercept ratio, heat flux distribution and total energy collected at the receiver for the heliostats located in the various places of the heliostat field are investigated. Finally the effect of mirror facet installation error on the optical performance of the heliostat is analyzed.
