This work presents a correlation between the behavior of formic acid oxidation (FAO) on various Bi-modified Pt(poly) disk electrodes and their morphologies observed on Bi-modified Pt(111) disk electrodes using electrochemical scanning tunneling microscopy (EC-STM) to understand the effects of Bi on Pt. To distinguish the FAO activities of Bi on Pt and plain Pt around Bi, additional Pt was intentionally deposited using two different routes: direct route and iodine route. In direct route, Pt was directly deposited on Bi islands and plain Pt sites around Bi islands, while in iodine route, Pt was exclusively deposited on Bi islands by protecting plain Pt sites with adsorbed iodine. Thus, a comparison of FAO performances on the two Bi-modified Pt electrodes with additional Pt (deposited in the different ways) disclosed a difference in FAO performances on plain Pt sites and Bi islands. When Bi coverage was ~0.04, the Bi deposits were scattered Bi islands enhancing FAO on Pt(poly). The additional Pt deposits using direct route increased FAO efficiency, while the ones using iodine route slightly decreased FAO current. The EC-STM observations indicated that Pt deposits around Bi islands, not on Bi islands, were responsible for the FAO current increase on Bi-modified Pt(poly). The FAO efficiency on Bi-modified Pt(poly) with a Bi coverage of ~0.25 increased by a factor of 2. However, the additional Pt deposits using the two Pt deposition routes notably decreased the FAO current. The dependency of FAO on Bi coverage was discussed in terms of electronic effect and ensemble effect.

Within an intelligent automated cyber-physical system, the realization of the autonomous mechanism for data collection, data integration, and data analysis plays a critical role in the design, development, operation, and maintenance of such a system. This construct is particularly vital for fault-tolerant route-finding systems that rely on the imprecise GPS location of the vehicles to properly operate, timely plan, and continuously produce informative feedback to the user. More essentially, the integration of digital twins with cyber-physical route-finding systems has been overlooked in intelligent transportation services with the capacity to construct the network routes solely from the locations of the operating vehicles. To address this limitation, the present study proposes a conceptual architecture that employs digital twin to autonomously maintain, update, and manage intelligent transportation systems. This virtual management simulation can improve the accuracy of time-of-arrival prediction based on auto-generated routes on which the vehicle's real-time location is mapped. To that end, first, an intelligent transportation system was developed based on two primary mechanisms: 1) an automated route finding process in which predictive data-driven models (i.e., regularized least-squares regression) can elicit the geometry and direction of the routes of the transportation network from the cloud of geotagged data points of the operating vehicles and 2) an intelligent mapping process capable of accurately locating the vehicles on the map whereby their arrival times to any point on the route can be estimated. Afterward, the digital representations of the physical entities (i.e., vehicles and routes) were simulated based on the auto-generated routes and the vehicles' locations in near-real-time. Finally, the feasibility and usability of the presented conceptual framework were evaluated through the comparison between the primary characteristics of the physical entities with their digital representations. The proposed architecture can be used by the vehicle-tracking applications dependent on geotagged data for digital mapping and location tracking of vehicles under a systematic comparison and simulation cyber-physical system.

At the 104th IMO MSC, it was decided to make a code for the operation of MASS(Maritime Autonomous Surface Ship). In addition, the government announced a roadmap for preemptive regulatory innovation for autonomous ships and identified 31 related regulatory issues and suggested improvements to revitalize the autonomous ship industry. This study aims to analyze the ship turning left on the route as a study on how to operate the route system when operating MASS. We intend to derive the current congestion degree of the special area of Busan New Port through maritime traffic survey and use simulation to derive the congestion degree of the special area due to the size of ships and increase in traffic volume. We would like to propose an appropriate amount of traffic (the number of L-converted). It is believed that the research results can be used as basic data for route operation when operating not only current ships but also MASS.

Sea ice covers wide area in Terra Nova Bay in East Antarctica where the Jangbogo Antarctic Research Station was built in 2014, which affects greatly on the sailing of an icebreaker research vessel. In this study, we analyzed the optimum sea route and sailable period of the icebreaker to visit the Jangbogo Antarctic Research Station by using sea ice concentration data observed by passive microwave sensors such as Special Sensor Microwave/Imager (SSM/I) and Special Sensor Microwave Imager/Sounder (SSMIS) for the last decade, and by using sea route of the Araon, an icebreaker of Republic of Korea, from 2010 to 2012. It is found that Araon sailed in the route of sea ice concentration up to 78%. Sailing speed of the Araon decreased due to increasing sea ice concentration. However, Araon maintained the speed close to the average speed for the entire sailing period (~11 kn) in the route of sea ice concentration up to 70%. Therefore, we confirm that the Araon can sail typically in the route which shows sea ice concentration below 70%. We derived annually available sailing period in recent 10 years for the sea route of the Araon in 2010, 2011 and 2012, which is defined as the period showing sea ice concentration below 70% through the route. Maximum sailable period was analyzed to be 61 and 62 days for the route of the Araon in 2010 and 2011, respectively. However, the typical sailing in the routes was unavailable in some years because sea ice concentration was higher than 70% through the routes. Meanwhile, the sailable period for the routes of the Araon in 2012 was observed in every year, which was a minimum of 15 days and is a maximum of 89 days. Therefore, we could suggest that optimum route of icebreaker to visit the Jangbogo Antarctic Research Station is the route of the Araon in 2012. High resolution images from SAR or optical sensors are necessary to investigate sea ice condition near shoreline of Jangbogo research station due to several kilometers of low resolution of sea ice concentration.

This study proposes an estimate method of willingness to pay(WTP) for real-time route guidance systems using contingent valuation method(CVM) under double bounded dichotomous choice question(DBDCQ) and analysis for impact factors of WTP estimation. This study assumed that provided real-time traffic information service is optimal route concepts dealing with traffic conditions on origin-destination. Analysis targets were classified into two groups as short distance path and middle distance path for estimating WTP for realtime route guidance system in a year using the survival analysis method and the regression model with personal information, actual condition and satisfaction of information usage and users' awareness and usage of facilities. As a result, mean WTP of realtime route guidance system is 4,034won/year in short distance path, and 4,884won/year in middle distance path. Therefore real-time route guidance system for longer distance path is recognized as more valuable than shorter distance path. Moreover, the necessity of information was required on a higher income group and higher WTP was estimated on owners of vehicle group and lower awareness of a route group.

It is necessary to evaluate methods for reasonable diagnosis for public transportation. However, previous studies have the problems in evaluation ground and propriety. Therefore, this research develop the method and equation for evaluating bus route considering interregional equity and route doubleness. This study developed in bus route evaluation method using Seoul bus Zone, and included the result of evaluation test using 199 route Seoul trunk bus (blue bus). Zone (0) (Jongno-gu, Jung-gu and Yongsan-gu) has the highest score in Evaluation result. Also this zone has good bus route, so it is easy to move to other Zone. It is possible to change and add the bus route to use the equation in this study, considering interregional equity.
This paper compares transport overhead of MPEG-2 TS, MMT and ROUTE in order to compare transport efficiency between the DTV and UHDTV. The MPEG-2 TS standard, widely used, was established for multiplexing and synchronizing encoded audio and video, additional information. In recent years, MMT and ROUTE was established as a next generation multimedia transport standard for the new broadcasting communication environment. In this paper, we compare and analyze transport overhead about three protocol. In order to analysis, we captured the UHD A/V stream in real-time broadcasting service using ROUTE and MMT, and we calculated and analyzed transport overhead using the overhead analysis program which was developed in our laboratory. Furthermore, for comparison under the same conditions, we assumed the MPEG-2 TS stream by extracting ES of UHD A/V stream based on the DTV standard. In this paper, we show the results of protocol transport efficiency in case of basic A/V stream except for additional services. And result show that MMT and ROUTE have similar overhead and MPEG-2 TS is relatively small overhead. However, since MPEG-2 TS result does not consider null packets, it is expected that the relative overhead difference will be reduced.
Traffic routes typically have heavy traffic. Especially, the entrance of the route has a high risk of accidents occurring because of ships entering and exiting the port. However, almost of studies have focused on the distribution of traffic on the route. Thus, studies on the distribution between ships for passing through the route are insufficient. The purpose of this study was to analysis the traffic in the Busan north port No.1 route for one week. Based on present traffic conditions, one gate line was settled on the route with an analysis of traffic conditions. Based on the analysis data, each optimal time probability distribution between ships was divided into inbound/outbound and traffic volume. An analysis of the optimal probability distribution, was applied to 31 probability distributions divided into bounded, unbounded, non-negative, and advanced probability distribution. The KS test was applied for identifying three major optimal time probability distributions. According to the KS test results, the Wakeby distribution is the best optimal time probability distribution on the designated route. Although the optimal time probability distribution for other transportation studies such as on vehicles on highways is a non-negative probability distribution, this distribution is an advanced probability distribution. Thus, the application of major probability distribution for using other transportation studies is not applicable to this study Additionally, the distance between ships in actual traffic surveys and the distance estimated by the optimal probability distribution were compared. As a result of the comparison, those distances were fairly similar. However, this study was conducted in only one major port. Thus, it is necessary to investigate the time between ships and calculate a traffic volume on varying routes in future studies.
Purpose: In this study, the authors propose a flood evacuation plan for skyscrapers with law related to underground space of skyscrapers, domestic and international underground space flood case study and simulation test. Method: This study compares the evacuation pattern of various case from flooded underground spaces extending over several floors with respect to the number of evacuation routes with. Also, simulation test was performed by setting up the virtual underground spaces consisting of three-stories basement and changing the number of the ground entrance, area of the basement and the flooding heights of the basement. Result: There was no difference in evacuation route according to the inundation risk even if there was an area corresponding to risk level 4. This is because the risk in the starting area is greater than that in the evacuation route. Especially, even if the risk of evacuation route increases with time, there is no change in route because the route must be passed to reach the evacuation site. Conclusion: In this study, there was no difference in evacuation route according to the inundation risk. However, if the size and shape of the underground space of each building is different, the depth of inundation with time may be different.

VMS(Variable Message Sign) helps drivers to choose their path to destinations on roadways. Some types of VMS often provide traffic information with clearly visible and comprehensible graphical route diagrams. Currently many diagramed types of VMS are installed on urban arterial and highways. This type of VMS surely enhances drivers' ability to comprehend traffic route information while they are driving on the roadway. Nevertheless, some of them are presented with so much information and design elements and they sometimes lead to decline of drivers' comprehensible level for traffic information. Drivers would fail to decide their preferable route in this state of information overflow. The purpose of this paper is to develop a drivers preference model for effective design principle including size and height of displaying font, and the amount of information in the route diagram considering driving speed, sex and age of the driver. This model is developed using structural equation modeling techniques. This model considers driver's emotional factor and, human factor and design component of route diagram. To collect data, we built driving simulator which is able to replicate real driving condition. 72 people who participated in the simulation were selected considering gender and age. The developed model showed that the amount of information, and visibility are more influential factors to the drivers' preference of the route diagram on VMS than design elements such as the shape and the font of the diagram.
