  • This paper compares various potential based panel methods for the analysis of two-dimensional hydrofoil. The strength of singularity on each panel is assumed to be constant or linear. Robin boundary condition as well as Neumann and Dirichlet boundary conditions are applied to various formulations to evaluate the accuracies of the methods. Pressures and lifts are computed for various two-dimensional hydrofoil geometries and are compared with the analytic solutions. Extensive studies are performed on the local errors near the trailing edge, known to be sensitive to the foil geometry with sharp trailing edge and high camber. Robin boundary condition with the perturbation velocity potential formulation shows the best accuracy and convergence rate.

  • As the size of camera modules is decreasing and as the computing performance of portable devices is improving, taking photos has become a part of daily life. However, existing photo management programs and products that manage such photos still require extensive user effort to facilitate the sharing and browsing of images. It is especially difficult for novice users to manage and share photos. In this paper, we develop a round-robin concept-driven user preference feedback mechanism for achieving direct photo sharing, instant display, and easy management using optimized user controls and user preference-driven classification. Compared with commercial photo management systems, our proposed solution provides new features: optimized user controls, direct sharing and instant display, and user preference feedback driven classification. These new features boost the round-robin concept-driven user preference feedback. This paper proposes a photo finder that automatically searches for photos in storage spaces or cameras. The proposed photo finder relies on user preference feedback to share photos by leveraging user preferences, and the round-robin connection transmits photos to the family's digital photo frame or web album by arbiter. The proposed method saves time and spares users the effort required for photo management. Moreover, this method does not merely direct photo sharing and simple photo management, but it also increases the satisfaction level of users viewing the photos.

  • Round robin based proportional share scheduling(RRPS) defines weight which determines share for each task and allocates CPU resource to each task in proportional to its respective weight. RRPS uses fairness as the measure of performance and aims at high fairness of scheduling. However, researches for scheduling fairness problem due to synchronization among tasks have been rarely investigated. In this paper, we discuss that scheduling delay due to synchronization may result high unfairness in RRPS. We explain such a situation as weight inversion. We then propose weight inheritance protocol(WIP), a synchronization mechanism, that prevents weight inversion. We also show that WIP can reduce unfairness using fairness analysis and simulation.

  • The Pierre Robin sequence (PRS) is the nonrandom association of micrognathia, cleft palate, and glossoptosis, leading to respiratory and feeding difficulties that appear neurogenic rather than mechanical in causation. Genetic determinants are thought to underlie this functional and morphological entity, based on the existence of Mendelian syndromes with PRS. Here, we demonstrate the association of PRS with trisomy 8p due to duplication of a segment as the karyotype 46,XX,dup(8)(p21.3p23.1) and confirm the additional materials as chromosome 8 via whole chromosome paint probes. Our observation supports the hypothesis regarding a genetic basis for nonsyndromic PRS, strengthens the possible genetic association with isolated cleft palate, and provides a candidate PRS locus in chromosomal region 8(p21.3p23.1).

  • High-speed scheduling algorithms are required for high-performance input-queued switches to achieve good performance. Various Round-Robin scheduling algonthms for Virtual-Output-Queue (VOQ) switch architectures have been proposed, hke iSLIP, DRRM (Dual Round-Robin Matching). iSLIP can achieve high performance and have already been implemented in hardware. DRRM has been proved to achieve better performance and simpler than iSLIP But neither iSLIP nor DRRM can efficiently solve the problem of the Round-Robm pointers' desynchronization. In this paper, we have proposed "Well-Regulated Pseudo-request Dual Round-Robin Matching" Algorithm. It is developed from DRRM, and can always keep the pointers' desynchronization. Since our algorithm is based on the Round-Robin scheduling, it is also simple to be implemented. And simulation results also show that our proposed algonthm performs pretty well under various, traffic models.

  • Pierre Robin sequence as a symptom triad of micrognathia, glossoptosis, and cleft palate results in upper airway obstruction and feeding problems. If mild, it is often managed in the prone position. When positional treatment fails, however, surgical intervention such as tongue-lip adhesion, tracheostomy, and mandibular distraction osteogenesis is mandatory to relieve airway obstruction. There has been growing interest in the application of distraction osteogenesis for the management of craniofacial abnormalities. The mandibular distraction osteogenesis to newborns may prevent the airway obstruction, decrease the potential tracheostomy, and reduce the likehood of orthognathic surgery after growth. We experienced an infant with Pierre Robin sequence who showed mandibular hypoplasia, glossoptosis, incomplete cleft palate, intermittent cyanos is, depression of the chest, and respiratory difficulty associated with airway obstruction. We treated the airway obstruction by tongue-lip adhesion at 2 weeks of age, and treated the mandibular retrognathism and depression of the chest byusing internal mandibular distraction osteogenesis at 7 month of age. The mandible moved forwardly, the upper airway space was enlarged, and the antero-posterior distance of the mandible was elongated after the mandibular distraction. Mandibular distraction osteogenesis may be a promising technique to avoid the need of tracheostomy and orthognathic surgery, and to correct airway obstruction in infants with congenital craniofacial malformation.

  • There have been numerous researches regarding the QoS guarantee in packet switching networks. IntServs, based on a signaling mechanism and scheduling algorithms, suggesting promising solutions, yet has the crucial complexity problem so that not enough real implementations has been witnessed. Flow aggregation is suggested recently to overcome this issue. In order to aggregated flows fairly so that the latency of the aggregated flows is bound, however, a non-work conserving scheduler is necessary, which is not very popular because of its another inherent complexity. We suggest a non-work conserving scheduler, the Round Robin with Virtual Flow (RRVF), which is a variation of the popular Deficit Round Robin (DRR). We study the latency of the RRVF, and observe that the non-work conserving nature of the RRVF yields a slight disadvantage in terms of the latency, but after the aggregation the latency is greatly reduced, so that e combined latency is reduced. We conclude that the flow aggregation through RRVF can actually reduce the complexity of the bandwidth allocation as well as the overall latency within a network.

  • The Korean Performance Demonstration(KPD) System for the ultrasonic testing personnel, equipments and procedures applicable to the Class 1 and 2 piping examination for nuclear power plant in Korea has been established. A round robin test was conducted in order to compare the examination results by the method of Performance Demonstration(PD) with the traditional dB-drop method. The round robin test shows that the reliability of the PD method is better than that of the dB-drop method. As a result, adoption of the PD method to the in-service inspection of the nuclear power plants will improve the reliability of the ultrasonic test results.

  • Downhole seismic method is very economic and easy of operation because it uses only one borehole and simple surface source to obtain the shear wave velocity ($V_s$) profile of a site. Even though it is widely used by the site investigation companies, universities and institutes, however, the $V_s$ profile determined by downhole seismic method has often low reliability due to employment of wrong combinations of field losing equipment and interpretation method and deficiency of experience. Round robin test was performed and testing equipment and procedure were compared. Adequate downhole seismic testing equipment was constructed based on the comparison and verification study of the round robin test. The data acquisition and software interpretation were also developed for automation and quick test in field. Finally, the effectiveness and applicability were verified through the field test by using the constructed testing system.

  • In this paper, we consider the Robin-Dirichlet problem for a nonlinear wave equation of Kirchhoff-Carrier type with a viscoelastic term. Using the Faedo-Galerkin method and the linearization method for nonlinear terms, the existence and uniqueness of a weak solution are proved. An asymptotic expansion of high order in a small parameter of a weak solution is also discussed.
