  • Dam slope RIM is a highly important contact interface where the main body and the base surface are connected. In general, when the grouting for the slope of the dam structure is designed, it is planned using limited data (drilling, geological map, etc.). This makes it very difficult to accurately consider the original ground characteristics of the slope RIM grouting target, In addition, when the grouting volume planned during the design is drilled and injected into the original ground where the waterstop is secured, there is a possibility that the original ground with the waterstop is disturbed and the effect of the waterstop is rather diminished. In order to overcome such problems, it is more suitable to first consider geological conditions and determine whether to perform optimal grouting on the original ground through on-site repair tests before performing RIM grouting. In this paper, to determine the grouting of the RIM unit, a pilot hole water pressure test was performed on the rock of the slope in the target section. The analysis shows grouting volume of 1 Lugeon or less, and the cement injection amount also shows the injection result of 1 kg/m or less. In this case, performing grouting is rather counterproductive. This result can be evaluated through a rock of which some degree of order of mass is secured, as it is a dam design standard of 1 Lugeon or less when analyzed, using the results of visual observation and geological map creation during slope cutting. Therefore, in conclusion, it is preferable to make the decision for using RIM grouting on the slope of the dam body structure, based on 1 Lugeon in a rock state, and the cement injection amount also at 1 kg/m.

  • E$\breve{g}$ecio$\breve{g}$lu and Remmel [1] gave a combinatorial interpretation for the entries of the inverse Kostka matrix $K^{-1}$. Using this interpretation Sagan and Lee [8] constructed a sign reversing involution on special rim hook tableaux. In this paper we generalize Sagan and Lee's algorithm on special rim hook tableaux to give a combinatorial partial proof of $K^{-1}K=I$.

  • In [6] Schensted constructed the Schensted algorithm giving a bijection between permutations and pairs of Young standard tableaux. After knuth generalized it to column strict tableaux in [3] various analogs of the Schensted algorithm came. In this paper we describe the bumping algorithm on the shifted rim hook tableaux which is the basic building block of the Schensted algorithm for shifted rim book tableaux.

  • We observed the section and microstructure by Scanning Electron Mirrorscope (SEM) for 4 'Bowls, white porcelain with impressed floral design and sliver bound rim' and 1 'Dish, white porcelain with sliver bound rim', which was manufactured by reverse firing and metal bound rim was wrapped to the part of not being spread glaze at inlet, in Jingdezhen white porcelains, the relics dug from the seabed of Shinan conserved in National Museum of Korea, and found that the ingredient of metal rim was not silver but tin as a result of measuring by BEI of Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS). And as a result of survey with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) for checking the method of joining metal rim of mouth part, it was found that joining was made with materials made of lacquer.

  • A refractive index modulated (RIM) DFB laser, in which the refractive index of a center region of the upper cladding layer comprising the grating region is different from that of side regions, is proposed to obtain and effective ${\lambda}$/4 phase shift in the center region. Since the coupling coefficient of a center region in a RIM-DFB laser is larger than that of side regions, a RIM-DFB laser has the effect of a distributed coupling coefficient. Simulation results show that RIM-DFB lasers have better operation characteristics - more uniform photon density profile, less SHB effect, and better single mode operation at high injection currents - compared to those of ${\lambda}$/4 phase-shifted DFB lasers and CPM-DFB lasers. In addition, the effect of the center region on the above threshold characteristics of a RIM-DFB laser is investigated.

  • Objective: To determine the association of macrocalcification and rim calcification with malignancy and to stratify the malignancy risk of thyroid nodules with macrocalcification and rim calcification based on ultrasound (US) patterns. Materials and Methods: The study included a total of 3603 consecutive nodules (≥ 1 cm) with final diagnoses. The associations of macrocalcification and rim calcification with malignancy and malignancy risk of the nodules were assessed overall and in subgroups based on the US patterns of the nodules. The malignancy risk of the thyroid nodules was categorized as high (> 50%), intermediate (upper-intermediate: > 30%, ≤ 50%; lower-intermediate: > 10%, ≤ 30%), and low (≤ 10%). Results: Macrocalcification was independently associated with malignancy in all nodules and solid hypoechoic (SH) nodules (p < 0.001). Rim calcification was not associated with malignancy in all nodules (p = 0.802); however, it was independently associated with malignancy in partially cystic or isoechoic and hyperechoic (PCIH) nodules (p = 0.010). The malignancy risks of nodules with macrocalcification were classified as upper-intermediate and high in SH nodules, and as low and lower-intermediate in PCIH nodules based on suspicious US features. The malignancy risks of nodules with rim calcification were stratified as low and lower-intermediate based on suspicious US features. Conclusion: Macrocalcification increased the malignancy risk in all and SH nodules with or without suspicious US features, with low to high malignancy risks depending on the US patterns. Rim calcification increased the malignancy risk in PCIH nodules, with low and lower-intermediate malignancy risks based on suspicious US features. However, the role of rim calcification in risk stratification of thyroid nodules remains uncertain.

  • The temperature distribution in the pellet was obtained from beginning the general heat conduction equation. The thermal conductivity of pellet used the SIMFUEL data that made clear the effect of burnup on the thermal conductivity degradation. Since the pellet rim acts as the thermal barrier to heat flow. the pellet was subdivided into several rings in which the outer ring was adjusted to play almost the same role as the rim. The local burup in each ring except the outer ring was calculated from the power depression factor based on FASER results. whereas the rim burnup at the outer ring was achieved by the pellet averaged burnup based on the empirical relation. The rim changed to the equivalent Xe film so the predicted temperature shooed the thermal jump across the rim. The observed temperature profiles depended on linear heat generation rate. fuel burnup. and power depression factor. The thermal conductivity degradation modelling can be applied to the fuel performance code to high burnup fuel,

  • To shorten the delivery time for new products, a lot of prototype plastic parts manufacturing technologies have been developed including injection molding, vacuum casting, thermal forming and so on. Among them, RIM is becoming one of a important soft tooling methods to produce prototype and mass production parts within short time. Further more, as the rapid prototyping technology based tooling methods are playing an important role in prototype manufacturing industry, the utility of the RIM is increasing. But few analyses and mold design techniques have been developed so far due to its chemical and mechanical complexity during the packing and curing process. This research suggests mold gate design criteria to prevent bobbles from molded parts through simplified mathematical model and change of bubble sizes according to the geometry of the molded parts through experiments. Also this study shows the differences of bobble generation mechanism between RIM and injection molding.

  • A study for the flame stability and the combustion characteristics of coaxial diffusion flame was conducted. The fuel employed was natural gas. The experimental variables were rim thickness of fuel tube, blockage ratio of the outer diameter of fuel tube to the inner diameter of air tube, and momentum ratio of fuel to air. It was consequently found that the stability in the neighborhood of the fuel rim depended on the rim thickness, especially in the case of above 3 mm, and that the stable region of the flame extended remarkably due to the formation of recirculation zone above rim. The effect of the blockage ratio on the flame stability was found to be minor in the case of above 3 mm of rim thickness. Between the momentum ratio 2 and 3, the stable flame zone was widely established as well good combustion. With increasing the fuel-air momentum ratio, axial velocity, turbulence intensity, and Reynolds stress increased.
