  • The Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID), once used widely, is expected to provide improved convenience in our everyday life. Crude observations of RFID consumption show that there is a wide variation in the adoption of this technology across different individuals. One plausible explanation is that consumers with challenging mind who seek for new technologies and have a good grasp of the new RFID technology should have higher propensity to use the technology. A better understanding of such acceptance pattern of RFID is of high importance in establishing technology providers' marketing strategies. This study is aimed to explain differences in the level of RFID acceptance focusing on cognitive styles of potential RFID users. By presenting potential RFID users' discriminative propensity toward RFID technology, this study hopes to provide guidelines for the design of service strategies that facilitate consumers' acceptance of RFID.

  • Countries around the world are actively investing in development and industrial application of RFID, a new wireless communications technology widely perceived as a next-generation growth engine with the potential for creation of new business value. In this paper, we empirically study factors influencing the acceptance of RFID by stage of introduction, to contribute making policies aimed at stimulating demand for this technology and accelerating its penetration. The process of acceptance of RFID was divided, in this paper, into three stages: perception, adoption and implementation, and influence factors, both Internal and external to an organization, drawn from existing literature, are analyzed. A conceptual model comprising internal influence factors, including technical, organization and economic factors, and external factors related to environment and this model was tested through structural equation analysis. To obtain data for empirical analysis, we surveyed public institutions and general companies that are potential users of RFID. The data thus collected were analyzed to determine factors influencing the acceptance of RFID by stage, and practical implications for the RFID promotion policy at the level of demand creation and industrial application were derived from the results of this analysis.

  • This study analyzed the correlation between RFID acceptance intention and application, and as a result, extracted the technical stability, system quality and security of RFID as factors that affect the intention of receiving RFID in container terminal gate through preliminary research. This analysis was done on individuals engaged in container terminals which are in operation by adopting RFID in container terminal gate presently, and by distributing totally 255 copies of questionnaire survey, 248 copies were collected. As a result of statistical analysis of this study, the following conclusions were made: First, the technical stability of RFID acceptance in container terminal gate was not statistically significantly high. Second, the system quality and the security of RFID acceptance in container terminal gate were statistically significantly high. Finally, container terminal gate RFID technology acceptance intention was statistically significantly high in application performance.

  • The emergence of RFID markets and development of various RFID-embedded mobile devices has brought fundamental changes to our lives. As the availability of RFID readers and tags that are implanted in smart phones and table PCs increases, information on RFID-affixed objects can be tracked wirelessly and this had open possibilities for B2B businesses to be run like B2C businesses. However, given the popularity of the RFID markets, there is limited research in this area. This paper serves to develop an extended technology acceptance model by Mobile RFID characteristics (perceived cost, security, instant connectivity, context awareness, and result demonstrability) examines the determinant factors that cause the acceptance of mobile RFID. To do so, the study conducted a survey targeting smart phone users and used the PLS path modeling, one of the structural equation models to verify the significance of research hypothesis. As a result, perceived cost, instant connectivity, context awareness, and result demonstrability turned out to have a real effect on intention to use mobile RFID by means of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. Security turned out to have a partial effect on intention to use mobile RFID by means of perceived usefulness or perceived ease of Use.

  • RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) technologies enjoy an enormous interest in all throughout the world, not only from the research but also from corporate practice. Although bar code is gradually substituted with RFID technology, the use of RFID technology in the companies is at the early stages and it's potential value isn't fully realized yet. RFID-related-trust is needed to solve these problems because these phenomena are related to uncertainties or risks disturbing RFID diffusion. This paper focuses on trust in the adoption of RFID and analyzes the effect to RFID technology acceptance of trust. This paper proposes 5 second constructs of trust; institutional trust, trust between companies, trust within company, technology trust, and service provider trust. In order to analyze some relationships between trust variable and 4 variables in TAM, structural equation modeling(SEM) is developed and SPSS 12.0 and AMOS 7.0 are used for analyses.

  • Global interests in RFID are increased and Korean government and companies make an active effort to propagate and spread RFID. Due to the overwhelming advantages of RFID system in comparison with existing bar code system, ripple effects on logistics sector among the utilizing fields of RFID technology are expected to be great, but application of RFID system is lowly progressed unlike the expectation of several experts. Therefore, this research extracts precedent studies on theoretical background, applying fields, promotion condition and domestic/foreign parts of RFID system, factors for operating domestic RFID system and effects and considers the effects of RFID's external variables on easiness and effectiveness of TAM. It confirms the relations of RFID applying effects for companies applying and utilizing RFID and verifies the relations among the effects for application of RFID system, accepting intention of RFID system and applying effects. Based on the results of analysis, it should play a role of good guide for all of companies and institution who will introduce RFID system to all of Korean logistics fields, make policies and systems which promote RFID acceptance nationally and socially and play a role of guide making confident climate for RFID technolog

  • This study is designed to find out what kinds of factors influence the application of RFID system to the library. This study is followed by theoretically reviewing the RFID and the application RFID system to the library. Theoretical study models are developed by expanding the social influence, perceived risk, job relevance, support, and self-efficacy after Based on Technology Acceptance Model that provides useful theoretical foundations for setting the perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and intention of application to the library of RFID system as the core of a study model. The affecting factors of application of the RFID system to the library are presented by empirically studying this study model.

  • As port competitiveness is becoming more important in the global market environment RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) Is also becoming a crucial enabler In implement efficient visible, secure and productive ports. However there Is a lack of practical validated RFID technology acceptance cases in the port logistics industry until now, even though various related projects have been undertaken. In this study, we applied 13.56MHz passive RFID readers, tags, and their applications into existing bar-code based gate systems to improve the port logistics process, and we analyzed results of a pilot test in economic and non-economic perspectives. The main purpose of this study is to develop the RFID based automatic gate passing system in container terminals, and is to validate its economic and non-economic feasibility. In order to accomplish the purpose of this study, first, we examined previous researches on RFID technology acceptance in the port logistics industry, second, we Identified and analyzed the business process of existing gate systems in container terminals, third, we build RFID gate systems with 13.56Mhz tags, readers, and its middle-ware, finally we tested the system and its performance. The results were successful and showed the feasibility of the system in real container terminal gates. Economic and non-economic contribution was confirmed. Although the system has technological limitations with short range passive type, we clearly identified its potential capability and its economic validity in the field, which are the implications of this study.
