This study is for the development of high temperature ALD SiO2 film process, optimized for gap-fill process in manufacturing memory products, using a space-divided PE-ALD system equipped with an independent control dual plasma system and orbital moving unit. Space divided PE-ALD System has high productivity, and various applications can be applied according to Top Lid Design. But space divided ALD system has a limitation to realize concentric deposition map due to process influence due to disk rotation. In order to solve this problem, we developed an orbit rotation moving unit in which disk and wafer. Also we used Independent dual plasma system to enhance thin film properties. Improve productivity and film density for gap-fill process by having deposition and surface treatment in one cycle. Optimize deposition process for gap-fill patterns with different depths by utilizing our independently controlled dual plasma system to insert N2and/or He plasma during surface treatment, Provide void-free gap-fill process for high aspect ratio gap-fill patterns (up to 50:1) with convex curvature by adjusting deposition and surface treatment recipe in a cycle.
In the injection molding process, the controlling stability of products quality is a very important factor in terms of productivity. Even when the optimum process conditions for the desired product quality are applied, uncontrollable external factors such as ambient temperature and humidity cause inevitable changes in the state of the melt resin, mold temperature. etc. Therefore, it is very difficult to maintain prodcut quality. In this study, a system that learns the correlation between process variables and product weight through artificial neural networks and predicts process conditions for the target weight was established. Then, when a disturbance occurs in the injection molding process and fluctuations in the weight of the product occur, the stability control of the product quality was performed by ANN predicting a new process condition for the change of weight. In order to artificially generate disturbance in the injection molding process, controllable factors were selected and changed among factors not learned in the ANN model. Initially, injection molding was performed with a polypropylene having a melt flow index of 10 g/10min, and then the resin was replaced with a polypropylene having a melt floiw index of 33 g/10min to apply disturbance. As a result, when the disturbance occurred, the deviation of the weight was -0.57 g, resulting in an error of -1.37%. Using the control method proposed in the study, through a total of 11 control processes, 41.57 g with an error of 0.00% in the range of 0.5% deviation of the target weight was measured, and the weight was stably maintained with 0.15±0.07% error afterwards.
Multi-wire sawing is the prominent technology employed to cut hard material ingots into wafers. This paper aimed to research the effect of diamond toughness index on the cutting performance of electroplated diamond wire. Three different toughness index of diamond abrasives were used to manufacture electroplated diamond wires. The cutting performance of electroplated diamond wire is verified through experiments, in which sapphire ingot are cut using single wire sawing machine. A single wire saw for constant load slicing is developed for the cutting performance evaluation of electroplated diamond wire. Choosing the cutting depth, total cutting depth, cutting force and wear of electroplated diamond wires as evaluation parameters, the performance of electroplated diamond wire is evaluated. The results of this study showed that there was a significant direct relationship between the toughness index of diamond abrasives and the cutting performance. Results demonstrated that diamond abrasive with a high toughness index showed higher cutting performance. However, all diamond abrasives showed similar cutting performance under low load conditions. The results of this paper are useful for the development of cutting large diameter ingots and cutting high hardness ingots at high speed.
The effects of opening, carding, and repeated drawings on single fiber and bundle cotton characteristics were studied by employing $Mantis^{\circledR}$, $AFIS^{\circledR}$ and HVI Testers. Some of the significant changes in single fiber properties were found to be due to process parameters as well as the changes in the fiber crimps, parallelness of fibers within HVI beards, and the actual changes in the tensile properties of the fibers. The study showed that the HVI test data taken just prior to spinning had the highest correlation with the yam tensile properties. Based on the study results, we point out the potential of HVI for future quality and process control in spinning by recommending a set of expanded HVI output that is more scientific and comprehensive for the future control needs.
This paper represents a portable robot for use in the welding process of the double hulls in shipbuilding yards. It has 5 degrees of freedom and 3kg of payload. Its body weight is 17.3 [kg] so that human workers can carry it by hand to the work place. Its body is mainly made of magnesium and aluminum alloys. Since the robot is placed about 25m apart from its controller, EtherCAT is adopted for reliable connection between the robot and controller through a single light cable. RTX real-time kernel and KPA EtherCAT master are used to control the robot on a Windows XP environment. The performance of the developed robot is satisfactory to the requirement in welding tasks of U-type cells in shipbuilding yards.
Enemy information has significant value when it comes to the process of military actions in battle field. Our Army now uses Battlefield Management Systems(BMSs) equipped in Ground Fighting Vehicles(GFVs) and we need to make research on what kind of role enemy information can play in such systems. Also, enemy information can be shared among GFVs and target information shall be extracted from it in view of KVMF scheme. Because KVMF becomes requisite standard in modern BMSs, we need to implement target information handling process in KVMF standard. In this article, we will focus on how target information and its sharing process can be managed efficiently without information conflicts. Also, situation map produced by it will be noted.
This paper presents a procedure of implementing a robust controller for a paper-making plant in DCSs. A paper-making process generally has triple problems to automatically tune its output qualities . Long transport delays which are not able to be simply linearized. The transfer matrix of the process is not square. And every plant model has some uncertainty in low and middle frequency region. To tackle these problems, a multi-input / multi-output (MIMO) plant model having some uncertainty was derived by considering some physical and mechanical principles of the process. Then a MIMO robust-controller is designed and implemented in a real DCS as function block type. Some special co...
New product innovation is a process of embodying new knowledge in a product and technology licensing is getting popular as a means to innovations and introduction of new product to the market in today's competitive global market environment. Incumbents often rely on technology licensing to access new product opportunities created by other firms. Prior research has examined various aspects of technology licensing agreements such as specific contract terms of licensing agreements, e.g., distribution of control rights, exclusivity of licensing agreements, cross-licensing, and the scope of licensing agreements. This study aims to provide answers to an important, but under-researched question: why do some incumbents initiate more licensing agreement for exploratory learning while others do it for exploitative learning along the innovation process? We attempt to extend our knowledge of licensing agreements from an organizational learning perspective. Technology licensing as a specific form of interfirm linkages can be initiated with different learning objectives along the process of new product innovation. The exploratory stages of the innovation process such as discovery or research stages involve extensive searches to create new knowledge or capabilities, whereas the exploitative stages of the innovation process such as application or test stages near the commercialization are more focused on developing specific applications or improving their efficiency or reliability. Thus, different stages of the innovation process generate different types of learning and the resulting technological resources. We examine when incumbents as licensees initiate more licensing agreements for exploratory learning objectives and when more for exploitative learning objectives, focusing on two factors that may influence a firm's formation of exploratory and exploitative licensing agreements: 1) its past radical and incremental innovation experience and 2) its internal investments in R&D and marketing. We develop and test our hypotheses regarding the relationship between a firm's radical and incremental new product experience, R&D investment intensity and marketing investment intensity, and the likelihood of engaging in exploratory and exploitive licensing agreements. Using data collected from various secondary sources (Recap database, Compustat database, and FDA website), we analyzed technology licensing agreements initiated in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries from 1988 to 2011. The results of this study show that incumbents initiate exploratory rather than exploitative licensing agreements when they have more radical innovation experience and when they invest in R&D activities more intensively; in contrast, they initiate exploitative rather than exploratory licensing agreements when they have more incremental innovation experience and when they invest in marketing activities more intensively. The findings of this study contribute to the licensing and interfirm cooperation studies. First, this study lays a foundation to understand the organizational learning aspect of technology licensing agreements. Second, this study sheds lights on how a firm's internal investments in R&D and marketing are linked to its tendency to initiate licensing agreements along the innovation process. Finally, the findings of this study provide important insight to managers regarding which technologies to gain via licensing agreements. This study suggests that firms need to consider their internal investments in R&D and marketing as well as their past innovation experiences when they initiate licensing agreements along the process of new product innovation.

We propose a damascene gate FinFET with Si nanocrystals implemented on bulk silicon wafer for low voltage flash memory device. The use of optimized SRON (Silicon-Rich Oxynitride) process allows a high degree of control of the Si excess in the oxide. The FinFET with Si nanocrystals shows high program/erase (P/E) speed, large $V_{TH}$ shifts over 2.5V at 12V/$10{\mu}s$ for program and -12V/1ms for erase, good retention time, and acceptable endurance characteristics. Si nanocrystal memory with damascene gate FinFET is a solution of gate stack and voltage scaling for future generations of flash memory device. Index Terms-FinFET, Si-nanocrystal, SRON(Si-Rich Oxynitride), flash memory device.
