연구개발활동과 관리통제시스템의 적합성 분석 - 정부출연연구기관을 중심으로- (Management Control System in Research and Development Organizations: Exploring Relationships between Management Controls and R&D Characteristics)

  • Management control is the process by which managers ensure that resources are obtained and used effectively and efficiently in achieving the organization's objectives. This paper explores relationships between characteristics of R&D and management control. R&D characteristics measured in this research include the degree of technological uncertainty and the measurability of outputs. Management control was classified and categorized into observable dimensions of control such as behavior, budget, process, results and personnel control. The relationships were tested with questionnaire survey data from a sample of 206 principal investigators(PIs) in the thirteen Government supported research institutes(GSRIs) in Korea. There are significant negative relations between the degree of technological uncertainty and budget, process and personnel control, and significant positive relations between the measurability of outputs and process, results and personnel control. These results indicate that the relations between task characteristics and management control in R&D are different from those to be found in other activities of organizations.

  • The main purpose of this study is to analyze the relationships between the R&D characteristics and R&D performance for Korean enterprises. We divided R&D performance into technological and business launching performance and analyzed four R&D characteristics' effect on the performance. The empirical analysis results can be summarized as follows: First, R&D characteristics of enterprises show a strong relationship with R&D performance in the case of R&D process control. Second, firm capability and information routine positively affect to technological performance at 0.1 significant level but not showing significance in the case of business launching performance. Third, managerial support negatively affects to technological performance but dose not show statistical significance. Its effect on business launching performance, however, shows positive and significant effect. This result is expected to be highly suggestive for establishing the effective R&D strategies of enterprises and also the relevant overseas marketing plan to support R&D planning.

Web algorithm used tension control without the tension sensor, and it is to calculate the diameter of Web materials with maintain Web tension. The performance of Web control in this paper is verified by experiment.

  • This paper presents the design and development of web control algorithm of continuous process control system using vector inverter. The Diameter of web is calculated, tension is controlled by PID control and the speed reference of motor is calculated at current diameter. The performance of web control in this paper is verified by experiment.

  • Let $S(R^d)$ be the Schwartz space of infinitely differentiable functions on $R^d$ which vanish at $\infty$ and $S'(R^d)$ be its dual space. The theory of stochastic differential equations(SDEs) governing processes that takes values in the dual of countably Hilbertian nuclear space such as $S'(R^d)$ studied by many authors(e.g [M],[KM]). Let M be a martingale measure defined by Walsh[W], then M can be considered as a $S'(R^d)$-valued process in a certain condition i.e. M has a version of $S'(R^d)$-valued martingale process.   • This study examines a normative model of project management systems, PPMS, to provide information for directing R&D activity in order to increase R&D productivity. The PPMS (Project Process Management System) is a disciplined and systematic framework to manage R&D projects effectively and efficiently under the assumption of a strategic decision making and long-range planning. The purpose of PPMS is to provide for the management of research organization at different levels an effective management tool; first, for the planning system which deals with rational selection and authorization of R&D projects, second, for the control system which concerns monitoring and controlling the execution of R&D projects, and finally, for the evaluation system which attains evaluation of the performance results of R&D projects and determination of the necessary follow-up. A view for the future development of project management within the context of a project-performing organization is also elaborated to exhibit the progress and phase description of the project management system.

  • This paper presents a new control scheme for a DVR (Dynamic Voltage Restorer) system consisting of series voltage source PWM converters. To control the negative sequence components of the source, it is necessary to detect the negative sequence components. Generally, a filtering process is used which has some undesirable effects. This paper suggests a new method for separating positive and negative sequences components. This control system is designed using differential controllers and digital filters. The positive and negative sequences are extracted and controlled individually. The performance of the presented controller and scheme are confirmed through simulation and actual experiment with a 2.5kVA prototype DVR system.

  • In order to perform the group control of motor drive systems in such as steel process line, high performance communication system is indispensible. In this paper, we introduce newly developed communication system which is suitable for these group control application. Using HDLC protocol, this system can transfer data to a long distance(up to 1km) at high speed(1Mbps) with reliability and efficiency. The performance of this communication system was proven through the application to the group control of DAEKYOUNG Bar Mill Line.

  • This paper present a robot controller developed for shipbuilding yard. Since shipbuilding process handles large work pieces and has dusty and noisy environment, the developed controller has separated architecture into main control part and servo control part. Main control part is located in control room while servo control part is located near robot with work pieces. Commutation between two parts is done through SynqNet and RS485. Air purging system is adapted to servo control part for better reliability. We aimed open architecture in both hardware and software architecture. For open hardware architecture, we employed Compact PCI (cPCI) because it is widely used bus system and very reliable. Since lots of commercial boards are available with cPCI interface, upgrade and reconfiguration is easy. For open software architecture, Windows XP�� Embedded is selected as operating system (OS), because it is very popular OS and most hardware vender supports device driver for the windows XP.
