다국적기업 R&D 센터의 지식이전과 혁신성과에 관한 연구 (Knowledge Transference and Innovation Performance of MNCs' R&D Center)

  • Multinational Corporations (MNCs) are establishing globally-distributed R&D centers around the world. Firms can overcome resource constraints and achieve superior innovative performance not only by using internal resources but also acquiring knowledge from oversea R&D centers. This paper explores the key factors that have been cited as significant influences on the ability to transfer knowledge, an important area of knowledge management of MNCs. Also, we identify the emerging outcomes in terms of R&D transfer and for the education, employment, and retention of knowledge works in MNCs. The result will be helpful for both MNC's managers and governments' decision makers with respect to R&D centers.

  • This paper presents, with some actual cases of employing clear case, as a R&D project configuration management tool, a new methodology for the evaluation and enhancement of project performance in R&D organization. This methodology enables you to forecast future results of the project with story telling skill, to innovate R&D project execution using the concept of Technology Supply Chain with global R&D human resources, to improve the performance of each development stage based on the voices of customer, and to enhance the quality of output and to minimize risk of project with timely positioning of R&D human resources.

팀 내외의 사회적 자본이 R&D 성과에 미치는 영향: 지식공유의 매개효과 (The Effect of Social Capital within and outside the Team on the R&D Performance: The Mediating Role of Knowledge Sharing)

  • This study explores the role of knowledge sharing between their social capital and performance in R&D setting. R&D environment is composed of experts from various domains with different backgrounds, such as technologies and experiences. Thus, increasing team social capital and enhancing knowledge sharing are critical for R&D performance. Social capital and Knowledge sharing are classified into two : Social capital and Knowledge sharing within/outside team. A empirical study was conducted at a research institute of large company that leads the advanced research and development of the domestic chemical industry. Data was collected 292 copies out of 500 copies (Response rate 58.4%). The result indicated that both social capital within and outside team had a positive effect on R&D Performance. Social capital within team had a significant impact on knowledge sharing within the team only, and social capital outside team had a significant effect on knowledge sharing outside the team only. Only knowledge sharing outside the team had a positive effect on R&D Performance and the mediating role of knowledge sharing was acquired for social capital outside team and R&D Performance only. From these key findings, this study suggests that, within the team, social capital alone can achieve results, but outside the team, it is necessary that not only social capital but also knowledge sharing are needed in order to achieve results.

  • The major countries including Korea extend the national investment on R&D and implement the business performance diffusion policy as the knowledge based competition age arrives recently. The necessity for risk management and systematic management system for R&D achievement have been appeared to prevent the failure as the R&D scale becomes larger as it was said. For this matter, the organization such as NASA and DoD in USA defines the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) as a quantitative accomplishment management index and utilize the Technology Readiness Assessment (TRA) system as a criterion. Such tool is evaluated as very effective in the R&D project purposed the practicalization. It is expected that the disadvantage of evaluation system which is oriented to the academic accomplishment in its contents of current research and to contribute greatly to the practicalization of outcomes when such technology readiness level concept is applied to Korean national construction and transportation R&D project. Accordingly, this study analyzed the concept of TRL·TRA, the characteristics and current evaluation management system of Korean national construction and transportation R&D project and suggested the construction and transportation R&D project TRL·TRA performance model to accomplish the practicalization purpose.

구조방정식을 이용한 TQM 프랙티스와 R&D 성과에 관한 연구: 상황이론적 접근 (The Relationship between TQM Practices and R&D Performance: A Contingency Approach)

  • 본 연구는 구조방정식을 이용하여 TQM 프랙티스와 R&D 성과의 관계를 연구한 것이다. TQM 프랙티스의 수준을 측정하기 위하여 말콤 볼드리지 국가 품질상의 기준을 기본으로 한 측정 도구를 사용하였으며, R&D 성과는 개량지향적 성과와 혁신지향적 성과로 구분하여 측정하였다. 또한, 본 연구모형에 서는 TQM 프랙티스와 R&D 성과의 관계가 상황변수에 따라서 달라질 수 있다고 보고 업무의 불확실성, 시장 변동성, 경쟁의 정도를 상황변수로 채택하고 이들을 고려한 TQM 프랙티스와 R&D 성과에 관한 가설을 설정하였다. 우리나라의 133개 제조업체로부터 우편 설문조사로 얻은 자료를 사용하여 가설 검정을 수행한 결과, TQM 프랙티스는 R&D 성과에 유의한 영향을 미치며, 그 영향의 패턴은 상황 변수에 따라서 다르게 나타나는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 본 연구의 결과는 제조업체 기반의 R&D 환경에서 TQM 프랙티스가 어떠한 역할을 할 수 있는지 보여주기 때문에 R&D 관리에 많은 시사점을 던져준다.

중국기업들의 성과를 위한 연구개발투자와 기업지배구조의 활용방안에 대한 연구 (R&D Investment and Corporate Governance Systems for the Performance of Chinese Firms)

  • 본 연구는 중국기업들의 R&D 투자와 성과 간의 관계에 대한 기업지배구조 시스템들의 차별적인 영향을 분석하는데 주된 목적을 두고 실행되었다. 연구표본은 중국 첨단기업들에 대한 통계연보에서 획득하였고, 실증분석을 위해서는 다중회귀분석을 실행하였다. 분석결과에 따르면 중국기업들의 R&D 투자와 성과 간의 유의한 정(+)의 관계는 CEO-이사회 의장직의 분리에 의해 강화되는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 이사회 구성에 대한 사외이사 비율 증가는 R&D 투자와 성과 간의 관계를 약화시키는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 기업지배구조 시스템을 구축하고 R&D투자 관리를 통해 성과 향상을 도모하고 있는 중국 기업들에게 실질적인 활용 지침을 제공하고 있다. 또한 R&D 투자관리 방안으로서 기업지배구조의 영향에 대한 미래 연구를 제안하고 있다.

국가연구개발 성과관리 법제 운영에 관한 소고 (A Study on the Regulations of National R&D Performance Management System)

  • 국가연구개발사업의 성과관리정책을 효율적으로 추진하기 위해서는 정책추진의 제도적 기반이 되는 관련 법령의 체계적인 정비와 함께, 정책의 효과적인 시행을 위한 실제적인 운영체계가 적절히 수립되고 집행되어야 한다. 본 논문은 그동안 국가연구개발 성과관리제도에 대한 법제적 측면에서의 분석과 검토가 미흡하다는 점에 착안하여, 국가연구개발 성과관리법제의 발전과정을 살펴보고, 현행 법령이 가지고 있는 미비점을 검토하여 그 개선방안을 제시함을 목표로 하고 있다. 현행 국가연구개발 성과관리제도는 국가과학기술정책의 기본방향을 규정한 "과학기술기본법"과 국가연구개발사업의 성과관리에 관한 세부적인 정책추진의 기본원칙과 방법을 규정한 "국가연구개발사업 등의 성과평가 및 성과관리에 관한 법률"에 따라 운영되고 있으나, 구체적인 사항은 "국가연구개발사업의 관리 등에 관한 규정"에 의하여 규율되는 법체계로 운영되고 있다. 그런데 현행 국가연구개발 성과관리제도는 그 제도운영법령, 성과관리 대상과 범위, 성과관리의 방법 및 내용에 있어서 발전적 개선이 필요한 것으로 평가된다. 즉, 관련 법령간의 정합성을 제고하고, 성과관리의 대상과 범위를 국가연구개발사업의 성과 전반으로 확대하며, 국가연구개발사업의 목표와 방향을 고려한 합리적인 성과관리가 될 수 있도록 그 내용과 방법을 개선하는 것이 필요하다.

기능적 조직 형태에 따른 TQM 실행요소와 운영성과간의 관계에 관한 연구 (An empirical study on the relationship between Total Quality Management Practices and Operational Performance depending on Functional Organization Types)

  • This study aims to examine the relationship between total quality management(TQM) practices and operational performance perceived by employees who are in different functional organization types, R&D function and Non-R&D function organization in manufacturing companies. Operational performance is defined as the degree of operation efficiency in the perspective of quality, delivery, and cost. Our study showed that the significant elements of TQM practice were different depending on functional organization types. In case of R&D organization, the categories of customer focus and process management were the strongest significant predictors of operational performance. Therefore, the optimal TQM practices for R&D organization can be obtained in consideration of customer focus and process management.

연구개발(R&D) 프로젝트의 효과적 관리를 위한 과정모형에 관한 연구 (A study on the Project Process Management System (PPMS) for the effective management of R&D projects)

  • This study examines a normative model of project management systems, PPMS, to provide information for directing R&D activity in order to increase R&D productivity. The PPMS (Project Process Management System) is a disciplined and systematic framework to manage R&D projects effectively and efficiently under the assumption of a strategic decision making and long-range planning. The purpose of PPMS is to provide for the management of research organization at different levels an effective management tool; first, for the planning system which deals with rational selection and authorization of R&D projects, second, for the control system which concerns monitoring and controlling the execution of R&D projects, and finally, for the evaluation system which attains evaluation of the performance results of R&D projects and determination of the necessary follow-up. A view for the future development of project management within the context of a project-performing organization is also elaborated to exhibit the progress and phase description of the project management system.

전자업종 기업의 기술혁신역량과 기술사업화역량이 신제품개발성과에 미치는 영향과 R&D지원 유용성의 조절역할 (Effects of Technological Innovation Capability and Technology Commercialization Capability on New Product Performance of the Companies in Electronics Industry and the Moderating Role of Perceived Usefulness of Government R&D Support)

  • The purpose of this research was to test the effects of technological innovation capability and technology commercialization capability on new product performance of the companies in electronics industry and the moderating role of perceived usefulness of government R&D support. For this study, Research data were collected through questionnaire instruments from the sample of 346 employees in 17 electronics companies of metropolitan area. The 305 sample was selected and analyzed by hierarchical regression technique. The results showed that technological innovation capability and technology commercialization capability had a positive effect on new product performance. And also found out perceived usefulness of government R&D support had the moderate roles between only technical innovation system our of three technological innovation capability factors and new product performance, and also between only manufacturing capability our of three technological commercialization capability factors and new product performance. With the research results, the implications for electronics company were discussed, and the directions for future research were suggested.
