A study on the Residents¡?Behavior for the Planning of the Shared Community Space (공동주택단지의 공동생활공간 구성을 위한 거주자 사용행태 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the characteristics of users'behavior for the planning of the shared community space(SCS). It was analyzed and estimated that the present status of the SCS of the contemporary multi-family housing sites in Korea and the residents'behavior in the SCS. Theoretic investigation and empirical research methods were used in this study. The empirical survey focused on seeking out user-oriented design criteria, based on the analysis of residents'usage behavior for the SCS. The analysis was made by both quantitative and qualitative methods. The results of this study are as follows; First, as to the usage status survey for the SCS, there is a difference in the degree of usage according to their locations. Second, as to the analysis of the SCS through a mental map, the sketch map analysis is found to be a useful research method for the SCS planning by actualizing the residents'behavior characteristics. In detail, the main characteristics in the SCS planning are nearness, centrality, intimacy, combination of facilities and the connection with the main paths of the complex.

Lattice based Microstructure Evolution Model for Monte Carlo Finite Element Analysis of Polycrystalline Materials (격자식 미세구조 성장 모델을 이용한 다결정 박막 소재의 유한 요소 해석)

  • The mechanical properties of polycrystalline thin-films, critical for Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) components, are known to have the size effect and the scatter in the length scale of microns by the numbers of intensive investigation by experiments and simulations. So, the consideration of the microstructure is essential to cover these length scale effects. The lattice based stochastic model for the microstructure evolution is used to simulate the actual microstructure, and the fast and reliable algorithm is described in this paper. The kinetics parameters, which are the key parameters for the microstructure evolution based on the nucleation and growth mechanism, are extracted from the given micrograph of a polycrystalline material by an inverse method. And the method is verified by the comparison of the quantitative measures, the number of grains and the grain size distribution, for the actual and simulated microstructures. Finite element mesh is then generated on this lattice based microstructure by the developed code. And the statistical finite element analysis is accomplished for selected microstructure.

Determination of DL-Carnitine Hydrochloride in Pharmaceutical Preparation by HPLC using UV Absorption Derivatives (자외부 흡광 유도체를 이용한 염산 DL-카르니틴의 분석)

  • A reverse-phase HPLC method to determine DL-Carnitine Hydrochloride in pharmaceutical preparation is described. UV absorption derivatives of DL-Carnitine Hydrochloride were formed with p-Bromophenacyl Bromide in an essentially quantitative manner using crown ether as catalyst. The DL-Carnitine-bromophenacyl ester absorbed UV radiation strongly at 254nm, allowing the detection of as small a quantity as 12.5ng of DL-Carnitine Hydrochloride. A linear defection range was $5\;{\times}\;10-8 \;{\sim}\;5\;{\times}\;10-7M$ of DL-Carnitine Hydrochloride. And the linear regression at various drug concentration was =0.999 (n=10). The DL-Carnitine Hydrochloride in pharmaceutical preparation was successfully derivatized and separated from other constituents by reverse phase HPLC with detection at 254 nm.

  • Using X-ray crystallography powder diffraction, the quantitative representation method of preferred orientation of particles ill tablets was developed. Selected faces of a tablet. the upper surface and faces cut parallel and normal to the upper surface, were presented to an X-ray beam and X-ray diffraction patterns for these faces were measured. The effects of particle size. tableting pressure, and particle form on the preferred orientation were also investigated. It was also recognized that the degree of anisotropy in terms of capping tendency was influenced by the preferred orientation of particles in tablets.

Numerical modelling and finite element analysis of stress wave propagation for ultrasonic pulse velocity testing of concrete

  • Stress wave propagation through concrete is simulated by finite element analysis. The concrete medium is modeled as a homogeneous material with smeared properties to investigate and establish the suitable finite element analysis method (explicit versus implicit) and analysis parameters (element size, and solution time increment) also suitable for rigorous investigation. In the next step, finite element analysis model of the medium is developed using a digital image processing technique, which distinguishes the mortar and aggregate phases of concrete. The mortar and aggregate phase topologies are, then, directly mapped to the finite element mesh to form a heterogeneous concrete model. The heterogeneous concrete model is then used to simulate wave propagation. The veracity of the model is demonstrated by evaluating the intrinsic parameters of nondestructive ultrasonic pulse velocity testing of concrete. Quantitative relationships between aggregate size and testing frequency for nondestructive testing are presented.

  • Biological determination of Pivampicillin hydrochloride was examined and an available method has been established. Unhydrolyzed Pivampicillin hydrochloride has no antibacterial activity, but it exhibits an antibacterial activity hydrolyzed with liberation of ampicillin by nonspecific enzymes present in blood and tissues from various species in vitro and in vivo. Using these properties, Pivampicillin hydrochloride can be determined as ampicillin by use of an agar-diffusion method with Bacillus subtilis as the assay organism.

Empirical Investigation of the Relationship between the Operational Competence of Service Providers and the Use and Adoption of Mobile Commerce

  • This study models the operational competence of mobile service providers as an endogenous factor that presumably impacts the mobile commerce (m-commerce) adoption of consumers and examines the relationship between the perceptions of consumers toward the operational performance of m-commerce providers and their m-commerce adoption likelihood. Quantitative research is applied with data collected from wireless Internet consumers in South Korea. The data is analyzed using factor analysis and structural equation modeling methods. The findings suggest that the operational competence of m-commerce providers is a significant antecedent to the m-commerce use and adoption of consumers in Korea. In this environment, the operational competence of mobile service providers in managing facilities, equipment, systems and technology plays a central role in enhancing m-commerce use and adoption. Based on the results, important managerial implications are discussed.

  • This study aims to emphasize the need for the in-depth experience and understanding of desire as to the User Interface Design through the introduction of the methodology which was developed by mixing quantitative utilization analysis and qualitative utilization analysis and to propose the active use of that. The methodology of this study is significant in that it tries to identify the latent experience and desire of user and reflect them in the User Interface Design through the repetition of 3 staged circular process and exploratory process related to the investigation category of people, prototype and product.

  • The Quaternary volcanic rocks, clastic sedimentary rocks of Kyongsang System, and carbonate rocks of Joseon and Pyongan System are known as good productive and potential aquifer systems in South Korea. National Groundwater Informaton Mangement and Service System (GIMS) indicates that the exploitable, sustainable, and current use of groundwater are about 18.8, 12.9, and $3.73billion\;m^3/a$, respectively. The rest amount ($9.1billion\;m^3/a$) can still be used for an additional water supply source. Therefore. comprehensive groundwater survey work comprising hydrogeological mapping, subsurface investigation and quantitative aquifer test etc. are highly required to establish rational groundwater management strategy.

Investigation on the technology trend in Platycodon grandiflorum by the patent analysis

  • The Platycodon grandiflorum (balloon flower) has been used as food material and traditional medicine in Asia. The roots have been used in traditional medicine to treat coughs, upper respiratory infections, and sore throats. Using 1,603 valid patents from 6 countries, we analyzed the patent trend based on year, countries, applicants, and technology. The technologies are categorized into 6 groups which include material, additives, manufacture, cultivation, breeding and seed. The technology competitiveness of countries were analyzed with quantitative factors such as cites per patent, patent impact index, patent family size and technology strength. In comparison with other countries in the patent index, South Korea shows an increasing trend in patent numbers and total leverage ability, although the individual technology is lower than Japan and USA. Our study provides information on technical trend to support the performance of new projects on balloon flower.
