  • The EWMA(Exponentially Weighted Moving Average) has recently received a great deal of attention in the quality control literature as a process monitoring tool on the shop floor of manufacturing industires, since it is easy to plot, to interpret, and its control limits are easy to obtain. Most a, pp.ications of the EWMA for process monitoring have concentrated on the problem of detecting shifts of a process mean and a process standard deviation with ARL(Average Run Length) properties. But there may be the necessity of controlling linearity on product quality such as the correlation coefficient to the process operator. Control managers may want to protect the increase of a process correlation coefficient value, such as 0, between two variables of interest. However, there are few studies concerned on this part. Therefore, we propose EWMA models for a process correlation coefficient using two transformed statistics, T-statistic and (Fisher's) Z-statistic. We also present some results of simulation by SAS/IML and compare two models.

  • Purpose: This paper treats the improvement of the quality and reliability of military weapon systems based on the maintenance data. Methods: The proposed method of the data integration and refinement are used to obtain the component reliability information and to find the frequently failed components based on the Pareto analysis. Based on the reliability information and the number of failed component frequencies, the target components of quality improvement are determined and improved by multiple methods such as engineering changes, special meetings, additional training and revising maintenance manuals. Results: Based on the proposed process, we find some components which need to be improved in order to enhance the quality and reliability. Conclusion: A process is developed for improving the quality and reliability of weapon systems. This process will be adopted by various weapon systems to enhance the quality and reliability, as well as reduce military spending.

  • The CEO leadership and employee's concerning and participation to quality management innovation activity is critical factor for improving the business performance. This empirical study is aims to find that whether the quality management activity is significant or not in the automotive parts suppliers. To perform this research, we distributed 250 sheets totally, and withdraw 194 sheets. We analysed 169 sheets that we could use for this research using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. We had the results that CEO leadership is significantly positive effects on the employees's participation to quality management. And the result of process improvement have positively effective and significant effects on the product improvement result and business performance of firms.

  • Process incapability index which is intended to evaluate the process capability by measuring process incapability provides more detailed information by dividing information about the process mean and variance. But when the target value is not consistent with the center of specification, it is very difficult to evaluate the process capability accurately. Thus it is necessary to improve the existing process incapability index. The improved process incapability index can identify the variation of the process faster than other process capability indices when applied firstly, to the precision process which can be affected sensitively by the change of the process, secondly, to the ordinary process where cost difference from the change of process is noticeable. By using subindices such as inaccuracy index and imprecision index, it is easier for quality manager to find where the cause of the variation of process is, and to take necessary action in advance.

  • This paper describes a project - based quality management model that identifies development technologies and codes while at the same time verifying the ability to implement processes that are essential in R & D projects. In order to verify the process implemented in the R & D project implementation, there are review, checking points, and evaluating methods the process performance levels for five processes such as defining requirements which is the beginning stage of system development, testing process which is the completion stage of system development, and project management and peer review process for project management and support in the proposed project-based quality management model. For development technology and code validation, the model included the documented test cases for each requirement by the developer in the requirements definition stage, debugging and testing in the design and implementation stages, static analysis and open source licence verification procedure, and system environment. After applying the model in SW development R&D project for evaluating the process performance, and verifying the development technology and the code, the developers responded that the improvement in the development technique and the code, and upgrade of process performance level for project are more than 10%.

  • Client requirements is a concept with increasing interest in relation to several outcomes of companies, and in particular, in the event of apartment project that takes large share in the domestic construction industry, diverse angle of survey is performed to discover the client requirements and reflect them to the project to improve the quality. For this purpose, it is required to learn the client requirements and apply it in the apartment project, and the QFD (Quality Function Deployment) linked ROQ (Return On Quality) is a technique used in the manufacturing that surveys the client requirements to improve the customer satisfaction, and apply it to the quality improvement program to improve the profitability in this process. In this study, through the application of the ROQ process, the plan to improve the apartment quality management is presented. For this purpose, the consumer interview survey, FGI (focus group interview) survey and the client requirements are analyzed, and thereafter, through the interview with the specialist, the quality improvement program that enables the application to the product development of new apartment product is established. Through this process, the new apartment quality management improvement plan is presented.

  • Process capability indices are being used as indicators for measurements of process capability for SPC of quality assurance system in industries. In view of the enhancement of customer satisfaction, process capability indices in which loss functions are used to deal with the economic loss In the processes deviated from the target, are in an adequate representation of the customer's perception of quality In this connection, the loss function has become increasingly important in quality assurance. Taguchi uses a modified form of the quadratic loss function to demonstrate the need to consider the proximity to the target while assessing its quality. But this traditional quadratic loss function is inadequate to assessing the quality and quality improvement since different processes have different sets of economic consequences on the manufacturing, Thereby, a flexible approach to the development of the loss function needs to be desired. In this paper, we introduce an easily understood loss function, based on reflection of probability density function of the normal distribution. That is, the Reflected Normal Loss function can be adapted to an asymmetric loss as well as to a symmetric loss around the target. We propose that, instead of the process variation, a new capability index, CpI using the Reflected Normal Loss Function that can accurately reflect the losses associated with the process and a new capability index CpI Is compared with the classical indices as $C_{p}$ , $C_{pk}$, $C_{pm}$ and $C_{pm}$ $^{+}$.>.+/./.

  • Recently, as most functional business activities in an enterprise are supported by computerized information systems, data duplication and inconsistency among functional information systems become serious problems. It brings people to have many interests on data quality management. This paper presents a case study in which a company had improved their data quality by enhancing their data quality management processes. Though the case study, we describe main issues and risk factors in the process of data quality improvement projects as well as solutions to resolve the issues, which can be referred by other companies who pursue data quality improvement. Also, the improvement effects are evaluated by multidimensional perspectives which include quantitative and qualitative measures on data quality, productivity, customer satisfaction, organization, and culture.

  • The objective of this study is to prioritize the Total Quality Management (TQM) factors based on fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method in Vietnamese supporting industries. Through an in-depth literature review, eight criteria were identified. These criteria were then divided into 32 sub-criteria. The fuzzy AHP is used to determine the percent weightings of eight categories of performance criteria that were identified via a review of the quality-management literature. These criteria include management commitment, role of the quality department, training and education, continuous improvement, quality policies, quality data and reporting, communication to improve quality, and customer satisfaction orientation. An empirical analysis of the criteria of each stage using the fuzzy AHP methodology and the expert opinion of quality management are used to evaluate the percent weightings of the criteria and sub-criteria that are synonymous with TQM implementation. The results showed that management commitment is the most critical factor; among sub-criteria, supports and responsibilities of top management is the most important. The study also identified the rank order of critical success factors of TQM. The findings suggest a generic hierarchy model for organizations to prioritize the critical factors and formulate strategies for implementing TQM in supporting industries, as well as other industries in Vietnam.
