Recently, with the advance of computing and networking technique, the high speed internet becomes widespread, however, it is still hard job to do streaming the media which requires high network bandwidth over the internet. Previous researches for streaming over the internet mainly proposed techniques that controls the QoS(Quality of Service) of the media in proportion to the network status. Though, this could be the solution for the service provider while the service user who wants constant QoS may not satisfy with variable QoS. In the paper, we propose a network adaptive prefetching technique, PAP, for guarantee of constant QoS. The PAP prefetches frames by increasing the frame transmission rate while the available network bandwidth is high. The PAP uses the prefetched frames to guarantee the QoS while the available network bandwidth is low and increases the playout interval to prevent buffer underflow. The experiment result shows that the proposed PAP could guarantee the constant QoS by prefetching the frames adaptively to the network bandwidth with the characteristic of video stream.

Mobile IPTV lets mobile users transmit and receive multimedia traffic, such as TV signals, audio, text and graphics, through IP-based networks with the support of quality of service(QoS) and quality of experience(QoE), mobility and interactivity [1]. To provide service feasibility, QoS and seamless mobility to mobile users, we consider mobility prediction, link stability, service requirements to develop resource reservation scheme in mobile IPTV environments. Thus, we study for mobility prediction and QoS-guaranteed mobile IPTV service prior to develop the resource reservation scheme.

The home network has been revitalized due to the emergence of the high-speed broadband network and explosive increases of the home network services. Especially multicast based high-definition (HD) IPTV service is on high demand from both Internet service provider (ISP) and users. In order to provide high quality HD IPTV service without packet loss and delay, the ISP utilizes various network QoS mechanisms. Due to the misleading fact, that the home gateway is considered as an end terminal in terms of the ISP's viewpoint, the ISPs can not guarantee the end-to-end QoS within the scope of the current home network architecture. Therefore, an independent QoS guaranteed mechanism should be considered within the home network domain. As the home gateway manages both private home and public access network within the home network, we propose and implement a novel QoS mechanism for the multicast based HD IPTV service over the home gateway. In order to provide QoS guaranteed HD IPTV service, the proposed mechanism classifies the packets, manages home network bandwidth resources, and executes call admission control using the channel join message. Also, we utilize layer 2 multicast packet forwarding scheme to improve the overall performance of the home network services. Through the experiments of implementing the multicast based HD IPTV services, we will verify the efficiency of the proposed mechanism.

It is difficult to satisfy the QoS(Quality of Service) guarantee which is required by real-time application services only with the Best-Effort(BE) service adopted in the current Internet. Therefore, worldwide research is being made on the method of QoS provisioning. Among them, the QoS guarantee mechanism using the Diffserv(Differentiated Service) was discussed in this paper. First we analyzed how the DiffServ performance was affected by traffic models. For this, we performed the research for the random, bursts, and self-similar traffic modeling method. We then designed and implemented an OPNET simulator, and performed the simulation 7d performance evaluation for diverse input parameters. Based on the results of performance evaluation, it was confirmed that QoS guarantee is possible for the EF(Expedited Forwarding) class with the DiffServ function under every environments considered and the service separation between EF and BE(Best Effort) classes is also possible. We also analyzed the performance variation and dynamic behavior of DiffServ mechanism based on the resource allocation between E? and BE classes in WFQ(Weighted Fair Queueing).
In wireless networking environments, supporting guaranteed quality of service to mobile hosts is difficult due to the facts that wireless networks have limited bandwidth and mobile hosts frequently move in and out of cells. In spite of the characteristics of wireless communications, the quality of some types of services, i.e., real-time services, must be guaranteed at a certain level. When a mobile host moves into another cell, service rates for mobile hosts in wireless networks may be adjusted since wireless networks have limited bandwidths. In this paper, we propose two resource allocation algorithms in wireless mobile networks, using quality of service (QoS) specifications. For efficient use of resources of wireless networks, the proposed algorithms dynamically allocate rates of flows in proportion to QoS with limited resources.

BcN provides a wide variety of high-quality multimedia services such as broadcasting and communication convergence services. But the quality degeneration is observed in BcN when we use broadcasting and communication convergence service via more than one network of different internet service providers. In this paper, a QoS management system which is able to measure and maintain objectively the quality-related information in overall networks is proposed. The proposed QoS management system is tested on the pilot networks of BcN consortiums by measuring the quality of voice and video experienced by the actual users of the commercial video phone services. The result of the experiment shows that it is possible to figure out service qualify between a user and a service provider by analyzing the information from agents. The per-service traffic information collected by probes is proved to be useful to pinpoint the party responsible for the loss of the service qualify in case of the services including different service providers. As the result of the experiment, it is shown that the proposed QoS management system would play a key role of resolving the quality dispute, which is one of the important issues of QoS-guaranteed BcN.

Real-time prediction of Web service of quality (QoS) provides more convenience for web services in cloud environment, but real-time QoS prediction faces severe challenges, especially under the cold-start situation. Existing literatures of real-time QoS predicting ignore that the QoS of a user/service is related to the QoS of other users/services. For example, users/services belonging to the same group of category will have similar QoS values. All of the methods ignore the group relationship because of the complexity of the model. Based on this, we propose a real-time Matrix Factorization based Clustering model (MFC), which uses category information as a new regularization term of the loss function. Specifically, in order to meet the real-time characteristic of the real-time prediction model, and to minimize the complexity of the model, we first map the QoS values of a large number of users/services to a lower-dimensional space by the PCA method, and then use the K-means algorithm calculates user/service category information, and use the average result to obtain a stable final clustering result. Extensive experiments on real-word datasets demonstrate that MFC outperforms other state-of-the-art prediction algorithms.

In this paper, we propose an algorithm that distributes processor time to the tasks decoding encoded frames with a goal maximizing total QoS (quality of services) of video conference system. An encoded frame has such a characteristic that the QoS of recovered frame image also increases as the processor time given for decoding the frame gets to increase. Thus, the quality of decoded image for each frame can be represented as a QoS function of the amount of service time given to decode. In addition, every stream of video conference has close time-dependency between continuous frames belonging to the same stream. Based on the time-dependency and QoS functions, we propose an on-line frame scheduling algorithm which does not schedule all frames in the system but just a few frames while maximizing total QoS of video streams in the conference. The simulation results show that, as the system load gets to increase, the proposed algorithm compared to the existing EDF algorithm can reduce the quality of decoded frame images more smoothly and show the movements of conference attendees more naturally without short cutting.
