An Empirical Study on the Supply Chain Quality Management for Effective University-Industry linked Training Programs (효과적 산학연계교육을 위한 공급망품질경영에 관한 실증적 조사연구)

  • For efficient and effective university-industry linked training programs, it is critical to design customized educational systems including various curriculums for specific needs from industries. To do that, we need to understand that the quality of collaboration between large companies and their vendors. Therefore, in this study, we provided SCQM(Supply Chain Quality Management) and QCI-SCM(Quality Collaboration Index for Supply Chain Management) to evaluate the quality levels of collaboration between large sized companies and their sub-vendors. And we tried to find the critical factors for successful SCQM and global quality management competitiveness.

  • Supply Chain Management is the process of planning, implementing and controlling the operations of the supply chain to satisfy customer requirements as efficiently as possible. It spans all movements and storage of raw materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished goods from point-of-origin to point-of-consumption. Korean Standards Association claims the Supply Chain Quality Management(SCQM) as a win-win model of organizations among the supply chains for the best product/service quality to final customers. The SCQM is focused on quality of product/service and will do much for improving manufacturing performance between customer and suppliers. Consulting-teams make every effort to design suitable solution for constructing solutions and improving the performance. This study is to analyze the performance of SCQM consulting, from July of 2007 to June of 2008, and would provide some guidelines to design the optimal consulting models and develop guidebooks.

Analysis of the SCQM Efficiency of a Parent Company and Its Partner Companies Using DEA (DEA를 이용한 모기업과 협력기업의 공급망 품질경영 효율성 분석)

  • With the recent introduction of supply chain management (SCM), quality management has extended from within companies to between companies. As a result, supply chain quality management (SCQM) has received increased attention. However, existing SCQM studies only focus on what impact quality control in supply chains have on company performance while virtually no studies examine quality control efficiencies. This paper, therefore, evaluated the SCQM efficiency of a parent company and its partner companies by using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) based on the Quality Collaboration Index for Supply Chain Management (QCI-SCM) conducted by the Korean Standards Association for its 'Quality Innovation-Based Building and Expansion of Business.' Study results showed that a parent company and its partners showed an overall average efficiency of approximately 80% (parent company 80.37%, partner company 79.05%). By also performing a discriminant analysis based on the calculated efficiency scores using DEA, factors that made companies efficient or inefficient were different between the two groups. In parent companies, efficiency and inefficiency were determined by factors such as communication, infra-structure, support, delivery of quality, and benefit sharing, whereas in partner companies, talent development, infrastructure, crisis management, and delivery of quality were the determining factors. In this paper, we examined the efficiency of SCQM and analyzed them from the perspective of both the parent company and partner companies to offer strategic SCQM insights.
