  • This study investigates the existing theoretical backgrounds in order to examine the behavior of lateral flow according to the plasticity of soils when unsymmetrical surcharge is worked on polluted soft soils by comparing and analyzing the results measured through model tests. Model tests are canied out as follows soil tank, bearing frame and bearing plate are made. By increasing unsymmetrical surcharge to the ground soils with the consistent water content and with gradually increased polluted materials at intervals, the amounts of settlement, lateral displacement and upheaval were respectively observed. In conclusion, the value of critical surcharge was expressed as q$_{cr}$=2.78$_{cu}$ which was similar to those Tschebotarioff(q$_{cr}$=3.0$_{cu}$) and Meyerhof(q$_{cr}$=(B/2H+$\pi$/2)$_{cu}$) had been proposed. The value of ultimate capacity was expressed as q$_{ult}$=4.84$_{cu}$ which was similar to that of Prandtl. The lateral flow pressure is adeQuately calculated by the eQuation(P$_{max}$=K$_o$ r H) and the maximum value of lateral flow pressure is found near O.3H of layer thickness(H) and is higher to ground surface than the ones in composition pattern, Poulos distribution pattern and softclay soils (CL, CH) which is not polluted. The stability control method used in this research followed the management diagram of Tominaga.Hashimoto, Shibata.Sekiguchi, Matsuo.Kawamura who use the amounts of plasticity displacement by lateral flow. As a result, the ultimate capacity values in the diagram {S$_v$-(Y$_m$/S$_v$)} of Matsuo.Kawamura and in the diagram {(q/Y$_m$)-q} of Shibata. Sekiguchi were smaller than in the ones of load-settlement curve (q-S$_v$).

  • The aim of this note is to study properties of the generalized centroid of the semi-prime gamma rings. Main results are the following theorems: (1) Let M be a semi-prime $\Gamma$-ring and Q a quotient $\Gamma$-ring of M. If W is a non-zero submodule of the right (left) M-module Q, then $W\Gamma$W $\neq 0. Furthermore Q is a semi-prime $\Gamma$-ring. (2) Let M be a semi-prime $\Gamma$-ring and $C_{{Gamma}$ the generalized centroid of M. Then $C_{\Gamma}$ is a regular $\Gamma$-ring. (3) Let M be a semi-prime $\Gamma$-ring and $C_{\gamma}$ the extended centroid of M. If $C_{\gamma}$ is a $\Gamma$-field, then the $\Gamma$-ring M is a prime $\Gamma$-ring.

  • In this paper, first we introduce the full expression of the Riemannian curvature tensor of a real hypersurface M in the complex quadric Qm from the equation of Gauss and some important formulas for the structure Jacobi operator Rξ and its derivatives ∇Rξ under the Levi-Civita connection ∇ of M. Next we give a complete classification of Hopf real hypersurfaces with Reeb parallel structure Jacobi operator, ∇ξRξ = 0, in the complex quadric Qm for m ≥ 3. In addition, we also consider a new notion of 𝒞-parallel structure Jacobi operator of M and give a nonexistence theorem for Hopf real hypersurfaces with 𝒞-parallel structure Jacobi operator in Qm, for m ≥ 3.

  • Laboratory studies were carried out to measure the sound velocity (V/SUB p/) and quality factor (Q/SUB p/, inverse attenuation) in the horizontal (H) and vertical (V) direction on the core sampled sediment of deep-sea basin (1,850 meter water depth), East Sea of Korea (Sea of Japan). Sampled core was about 250 cm long and 500 kHz ultrasonic p-wave transducer was used for a sound soured. V/SUB p/ varies from 1,480 m/sec to 1,500 m/sec, it is not clear which direction is faster, V/SUB PH/ or V/SUB pv/, within${\pm}$ 1.0% anisotropy (A/SUB p/). It is thought because the core sediment facies is highly (or slightly) bioturbated homogeneous mud with very high porosity (more than 80%). The general trend of Q/SUB p/ is decreasing 10 to 5 with the buried depth, it is strongly affected by the variation of sediment texture (increasing silt, decreasing clay) with increasing of CaCO$_3$ and organic matter content, But Q/SUB PH/ is jumping up to 14.9 near the bottom of core sediment as including volcanic ash richly. The relationship between V/SUB PH/ and Q/SUB PH/ shows the mirror image nearly, it is interpreted that not only the geotechnical properties and texture but also sea-water characteristics (high Q/SUB p/, low V/SUB p/) according to rich water content affect strongly in the upper part of the unconsolidated deep-sea basin sediment.

  • The purpose of this study is to construct the structure of the connected Lie group G with its Lie algebra $g=rad(g){\oplus}sl(2, \mathbb{F})$, which conforms to Stellmacher's [4] Pushing Up. The main idea of this paper comes from Stellmacher's [4] Pushing Up. Stelhnacher considered Pushing Up under a finite p-group. This paper, however, considers Pushing Up under the connected Lie group G with its Lie algebra $g=rad(g){\oplus}sl(2, \mathbb{F})$. In this paper, $O_p(G)$ in [4] is Q=exp(q), where q=nilrad(g) and a Sylow p-subgroup S in [7] is S=exp(s), where $s=q{\oplus}\{\(\array{0&*\\0&0}\){\mid}*{\in}\mathbb{F}\}$. Showing the properties of the connected Lie group and the subgroups of the connected Lie group with relations between a connected Lie group and its Lie algebras under the exponential map, this paper constructs the subgroup series C_z(G)

  • In this paper, the nonlinear matrix equation $$X+\sum_{i=1}^{m}A_i^*X^{-q}A_i=Q(0<q{\leq}1)$$ is investigated. Some necessary conditions and sufficient conditions for the existence of positive definite solutions for the matrix equation are derived. Two iterative methods for the maximal positive definite solution are proposed. A perturbation estimate and an explicit expression for the condition number of the maximal positive definite solution are obtained. The theoretical results are illustrated by numerical examples.

  • Two forms of homo serine dehydrogenase have been isolated from 8-day-old cotyledons of Canavalin lineata by a heat denaturation, ammonium sulfate fractionation, DEAE-8ephacel ion exchange and Sephacryl 8-300 gel filtration chromatographies, and Pro cion red dye, Cibacron blue dye and Resource Q column chromatographies. The molecular weights of T -form (threonine-sensitive) and K-form(threonine- insensitive) were estimated to 230 kD and 135 kD, respectively. In the presence of 10 mM threonine, the activity of T-form was inhibited with almost 70%, but that of K-form was not at all. The Km values tor homo serine of T- and Kform were 1.6 mM and 0.3 mM, respectively. The Km values for NAD of T- and K-form were 2.34 mM and 0.03 mM, respectively. And Km values for NADP of two isozymes were the same as 0.01 mM. The activities of T- and K-form were markedly stimulated up to 4.9and 2.8-fold, respectively, by 400 mM KCI. The partial purified(gel filtration) enzymes(Tform and K-form) can be reversibly converted.verted.

  • The chromophore/protein interactions in the photocycle intermediates of photoactive yel- low protein (PYP) were probed by site-directed mutagenesis. The absorption spectra of L- intermediates produced from E46Q, T50V, and R52Q mutants were calculated using the absorption spectra of dark states and difference absorption spectra between L-intermediates and dark states, and compared with that of PYP$\_$L/. The absorption spectrum of R52Q$\_$L/ agreed with that of PYP$\_$L/, but those of E46Q$\_$L/ and T50V$\_$L/ were red-shifted. The effect of these mutations on the absorption spectrum for L-intermediate was comparable to that for the dark state, suggesting that the interaction around the phe-nolic oxygen of the chromophore is conserved in PYP$\_$L/ unlike the crystal structure. On the other hand, we have reported that the absorption spectra of Y 42F$\_$M/, T50V $\_$M/, and R52Q$\_$M/ agreed with that of PYP$\_$M/, but that of E46Q$\_$M/ was red-shifted, suggesting that the hydrogen bond of the chromophore with Glu46 is conserved but that with Tyr42 is broken in PYP$\_$M/. These results suggest that the chromophore inter-acts with Glu46 throughout the photocycle, but never directly interacts with Arg52. This model con- flicts with some of the structural model of PYP intermediates proposed based on the high-resolution X -ray crystallography.
