The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of processing conditions (temperature and time) and binding agent types (glutinous rice flour, potato starch, bean flour, and acorn flour) on the physicochemical and sensory characteristics of ground dried-pork meat product. For this purpose, ground dried-pork meat product was produced by adding several binding agents at different drying temperatures and times. The drying time affected moisture content and water activity in all drying temperature. However, under the similar drying conditions, the extent of drying varied depending on the type of binding agents. The results of sensory evaluation for texture degree and overall acceptability indicated the following: overall, higher drying temperatures and longer drying time heightened the degree of texture, and the overall acceptability varied depending on binding agent type. Physicochemical and sensory characteristics were analyzed to determine any possible correlation. The results revealed a high correlation between moisture content, water activity, shear forces, and sensory evaluation (p<0.01). However, there was no correlation with respect to overall acceptability.
The purpose of this research was to investigate the potential use of cheese whey protein (CWP), a cheese by-product. The physiological activity of calcium-binding peptides in CWP may be used as a food additive that prevents bone disorders. This research also examined the characteristics of calcium-binding peptides. After the CWP was heat treated, it was hydrolyzed by trypsin. Then calcium-binding peptides were separated and purified by ion-exchange chromatography and reverse phase HPLC, respectively. To examine the characteristics of the purified calcium-binding peptides, amino acid composition and amino acid sequence were analyzed. Calcium-binding peptides with a small molecular weight of about 1.4 to 3.4 kDa were identified in the fraction that was flowed out from 0.25 M NaCl step gradient by ion-exchange chromatography of tryptic hydrolysates. The results of the amino acid analysis revealed that glutamic acid in a calcium-binding site took up most part of the amino acids including a quantity of proline, leucine and lysine. The amino acid sequence of calcium-binding peptides showed Phe-Leu-Asp-Asp-Asp-Leu-Thr-Asp and Ile-Leu-Asp-Lys from $\alpha$-LA and Ile-Pro-Ala-Val-Phe-Lys and Val-Tyr-Val-Glu-Glu-Leu-Lys from ${\beta}$-LG.
Purpose: Craniosynostosis (CS), one of the most common congenital craniofacial deformities, is the premature closure of cranial sutures. NELL-1 is a novel molecule overexpressed during premature cranial suture closure in human CS. From a functional perspective, NELL-1 has been reported to accelerate chondrocyte maturation and modulate calvarial osteoblast differentiation and apoptosis pathways. The mechanism through which NELL-1 induces these phenomena, however, remains unclear. The purpose of this study is to identify the NELL-1 binding protein(s) through which the biologic mechanism of NELL-1 can be further investigated. Materials and Methods: Far-Western and Immunoprecipitation (IP) assays were performed, independently and in sequence, followed by mass spectrometry to identify the NELL-1 binding proteins. Reverse IP was used to verify and confirm candidate binding protein. Results: The only confirmative protein from current experimentation was vimentin. Vimentin is the major structural component of the intermediate filaments. Conclusion: The present study identified and confirmed vimentin as a NELL-1 binding protein, which opened up a new window to mechanistically facilitate studies on this CS-associated molecule.

Over the past few decades, a considerable number of studies on the durability of concrete have been carried out extensively. A lot of improvements have been achieved especially in modeling of ionic flows. However, the majority of these researches have not dealt with the chloride binding isotherm based on the mechanism, although chloride binding capacity can significantly impact on the total service life of concrete under marine environment. The purpose of this study is to develop the model of chloride binding isotherm based on the individual mechanism. It is well known that chlorides ions in concrete can be present; free chlorides dissolved in the pore solution, chemical bound chlorides reacted with the hydration compounds of cement, and physical bound attracted to the surface of C-S-H grains. First, sub-model for water soluble chloride content is suggested as a function of pore solution and degree of saturation. Second, chemical model is suggested separately to estimate the response of binding capacity due to C-S-H and Friedel's salt. Finally, physical bound chloride content is estimated to consider a surface area of C-S-H nano-grains and the distance limited by the Van der Waals force. The new model of chloride binding isotherm suggested in this study is based on their intrinsic binding mechanisms and hydration reaction of concrete. Accordingly, it is possible to characterize chloride binding isotherm at the arbitrary stage of hydration time and arbitrary location from the surface of concrete. Comparative study with experimental data of published literature is accomplished to validity this model.

The purpose of this study is to secure the same or more structural performance and constructability for the detail off hooks cross-constructed at 135° used as external-ties standard detail in reinforced concrete columns, therefore, to the purpose of improving constructability, The clip-type binding implement was suggested. the experiment on the constructability evaluation and cost analysis of the clip-type binding implement by 90° end-hooked transverse reinforcement in reinforced conrete columns was carried out. The results of the analysis confirmed that standard detail column took about an one hour regardless of the diameter of tie. When using the clip-type binding implement, It was reduced to about 50% of the standard detail column. and regardless of the building size, it was most effective for the cost down when using the clip-type binding implement 1ea, it was about 32% fo labor cost reduction effect in comparison with using standard detail. as a result, Using the clip-type binding implement is shown be very effective in the working time and construction cost reduction.
The purpose of the present research was to examine whether the visual system importantly use binocular disparity information in color-motion binding. Wu, Kanai and Shimojo (2004) reported an illusory color-motion binding which was observed in the peripheral visual area when observers fixated on the central area of visual stimulus. We have found that illusory rotor-motion binding was not observed at the situation where binocular disparity was available but was where it was not available. These results imply that the visual system uses binocular disparity information when it binds rotor and motion and that the binding process occurs after binocular disparity information is processed.
Purpose: Porphyromonas gingivalis and Tannerella forsythia have been implicated as the major etiologic agents of periodontal disease. These two bacteria are frequently isolated together from the periodontal lesion, and it has been suggested that their interaction may increase each one's virulence potential. The purpose of this study was to identify proteins on the surface of these organisms that are involved in interbacterial binding. Methods: Biotin labeling of surface proteins of P. gingivalis and T. forsythia and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) analysis was performed to identify surface proteins involved in the coaggregating activity between P. gingivalis and T. forsythia. Results: It was found that three major T. forsythia proteins sized 161, 100, and 62 kDa were involved in binding to P. gingivalis, and P. gingivalis proteins sized 35, 32, and 26 kDa were involved in binding to T. forsythia cells. Conclusions: LC-MS/MS analysis identified one T. forsythia surface protein (TonB-linked outer membrane protein) involved in interbacterial binding to P. gingivalis. However, the nature of other T. forsythia and P. gingivalis surface proteins identified by biotin labeling could not be determined. Further analysis of these proteins will help elucidate the molecular mechanisms that mediate coaggregation between P. gingivalis and T. forsythia.
Cariogenicity of the bacteria is attributed to their binding capacity to the teeth. Bacterial attachment to oral surfaces is an essential step for colonization and subsequently infection. Therefore, it is conceivable that caries prevention can be achieved fundamentally by inhibition of bacterial attachment. The rationale for caries prevention through the use of sugar substitutes or limited use of sugar has been revealed. Among many sugar substitutes, xylitol has been shown to exhibit the most profound cariostatic effect, inhibiting glucose metabolism and possibly binding of mutans streptococci. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of xylitol on binding of different species of oral bacteria. The effect of xylitol on binding of [$^3H$]-labeled oral bacteria to hydroxyapatite coated with human saliva(SHA) as a model for the pellicle-coated tooth surfaces was investigated. The strains of oral bacteria used in this study were A. viscosus T14V, A. viscosus WVU627, P. gingivaiis 2561, P. gingivalis A7Al-28, S. gordonii G9B, S. gordonii Challis, S. sobrinus 6715, S. mutans UA101, S. mutans KPSK -2, S. mutans T8, and S. mutans UA130. The obtained results were as follows: 1. P. gingivalis A7 Al-28, S. mutans UA130, S. mutans T8 grown with xylitol showed greater binding to SHA than the organism grown without xylitol. Among these, S. mutans T8 showed the greatest rate of increase in its binding to SHA ; 8-fold increase in its binding with xylitol. 2. S. mutans KPSK -2 grown with xylitol showed 2 times lesser binding to SHA than the organism grown without xylitol. 3. Binding ability of the remaining strains grown with xylitol to SHA was almost same as that of the organisms grown without xylitol. The overall results suggest that use of xylitol in the oral cavity may affect the complex oral bacterial ecosystem.
Binding update for the routing optimization in MIPv6 can make the involved nodes vulnerable to various attacks. Therefore, secure binding update becomes an important research issue in MIPv6, and several protocols have been proposed for this purpose. In this paper, we compare several existing binding update protocols such as RR, SUCV and OMIPv6 and analyze the vulnerability of nodes to the possible attacks and drawbacks of address management and scalability and overhead of encryption operations. Then, we suggest the design requirements for the secure binding update and propose an advanced protocol based on the design principle. Through the analysis, we show that our protocol can achieve a higher level of security against the various attacks and enable better management of address, provide the location privacy and reduce the computational overhead of mobile nodes with constraint computational power.

The purpose of this study is to secure the same or more structural performance and constructability for the details of hooks cross-constructed at 135 degrees used as external-ties standard detail in RC columns, therefore, to the purpose of improving constructability, the clip-type binding implement was suggested and A total of 28 pull-out specimens were prepared with the parameters of concrete compressive strength and clip-embeded length, clip installation location to examine the anchorage behavior of the clip-type binding implement. The experiment was carried out. The results of the experiment confirmed that the anchorage strength of the clip-type binding implement was higher than the details of hooks cross-constructed at 135-degree regardless of the diameter of tie and concrete strength, embeded clip length, clip installation. and The 90-degree end hook with clip-type binding implement was showed a similar an anchorage behavior of 135-degree end-hooked transverse reinforcement, consequently, The 90-degree end hooked with clip-type binding implement is evaluated to be the same anchorage behavior and performance as standard 135-degree end hook detail.
