Sentiment Analysis of Product Reviews to Identify Deceptive Rating Information in Social Media: A SentiDeceptive Approach

  • [Introduction] Nowadays, many companies are shifting their businesses online due to the growing trend among customers to buy and shop online, as people prefer online purchasing products. [Problem] Users share a vast amount of information about products, making it difficult and challenging for the end-users to make certain decisions. [Motivation] Therefore, we need a mechanism to automatically analyze end-user opinions, thoughts, or feelings in the social media platform about the products that might be useful for the customers to make or change their decisions about buying or purchasing specific products. [Proposed Solution] For this purpose, we proposed an automated SentiDecpective approach, which classifies end-user reviews into negative, positive, and neutral sentiments and identifies deceptive crowd-users rating information in the social media platform to help the user in decision-making. [Methodology] For this purpose, we first collected 11781 end-users comments from the Amazon store and Flipkart web application covering distant products, such as watches, mobile, shoes, clothes, and perfumes. Next, we develop a coding guideline used as a base for the comments annotation process. We then applied the content analysis approach and existing VADER library to annotate the end-user comments in the data set with the identified codes, which results in a labelled data set used as an input to the machine learning classifiers. Finally, we applied the sentiment analysis approach to identify the end-users opinions and overcome the deceptive rating information in the social media platforms by first preprocessing the input data to remove the irrelevant (stop words, special characters, etc.) data from the dataset, employing two standard resampling approaches to balance the data set, i-e, oversampling, and under-sampling, extract different features (TF-IDF and BOW) from the textual data in the data set and then train & test the machine learning algorithms by applying a standard cross-validation approach (KFold and Shuffle Split). [Results/Outcomes] Furthermore, to support our research study, we developed an automated tool that automatically analyzes each customer feedback and displays the collective sentiments of customers about a specific product with the help of a graph, which helps customers to make certain decisions. In a nutshell, our proposed sentiments approach produces good results when identifying the customer sentiments from the online user feedbacks, i-e, obtained an average 94.01% precision, 93.69% recall, and 93.81% F-measure value for classifying positive sentiments.

어린이와 학부모의 식품첨가물에 대한 인식 및 정보요구도 추이 분석: 2008~2013 식품첨가물 섭취 안전성 평가 연구 결과를 중심으로 (Trends of Perception and Information Needs on Food Additives of Children and Parents by Analyzing the Safety Assessment Reports of Food Additives in 2008~2013)

  • This study was performed in order to grasp the trends of elementary school children and their parents on their purchasing behavior of processed foods, awareness of food additives and its education experience by analyzing the safety assessment reports of food additives in 2008~2013. The most important factor in purchasing processed foods was safety in both groups followed by nutrition in parents and taste in children, respectively. While purchasing foods, the first item that is checked has been shifted from food additives to the origin of the products. Parents still perceived food additives as the most hazardous factor for food safety; however, recently, children began to regard microbial contaminants as being most hazardous, which is regarded as a desirable educational effect. The most concerned food additives were preservatives, synthetic seasoning and colorants in both groups. However, the awareness level on food additives still remained low as 3.0~3.1/5.0 for parents and 2.4~2.9/5.0 for children. Educational experience on food additives increased in children from 12% in 2008 to 25% in 2013; however, it decreased in parents from 23% in 2008 to 15% in 2013. Information needs for food additives by education and promotion were very high both in parents (4.2~4.5) and children (3.8~4.1). Both groups had an interest in the safety, legal standards of food additives, and foods with food additives, in order. The most reliable resource institutions on food additives were university/research institute and hospital for parents, but, hospital and government for children. The preferred media on food additives were TV and the internet for parents, and school newsletter and TV for children. Overall, the above results demonstrated that the perceptions on food additives did not change much with parents during the last 6 years; however, children's perceptions began to show improvement with the increase of educational experience. Hence, the government needs to make efforts to increase the trust level of consumers by developing educational tools and providing educational experiences including mass media for the promotion of risk communication on food additives.

남성 뷰티 산업의 광고 전략을 위한 남성 뷰티 트렌드의 정보획득 매체특성 연구 (Analysis of Media Characteristic for Information Acquisition of Male Beauty for Industrial Promotion Strategy)

  • 최근 남성들의 외모관리를 통한 이미지 개발에 대한 욕구가 강해짐에 따라 화장품 산업계는 남성들을 소비적이고 활동적이며 구매력 있는 고객층으로 높이 평가하며 남성을 주 소비층으로 무한 경쟁체제에 돌입하였다. 특히, 근래 경기침체로 인해 소비심리가 위축되는 상황에서 화장품 브랜드들은 남성들의 외모관리에 대한 정확한 인식과 그들이 뷰티 정보를 수용하는 매체들의 특징에 기반하여 효과적인 홍보 및 정보전달 전략이 필요하게 되었다. 이와 같은 사회문화적 맥락에서 본 연구는 20, 30대 젊은 남성들을 대상으로 헤어 관리, 피부 관리, 메이크업, 손발 관리, 성형 수술 등의 주요 외모관리 양식에 대한 인식과 정보수용매체의 특징을 분석하였다. 또한, 연구 결과로 밝혀진 정보 취득경로의 주요 매체인 TV CF와 실제 정보 획득의 주요 매체인 온라인 카페/블로그 간의 시공간적 분리 문제를 해결하기 위해 TV CF를 시청하면서 바로 관련 정보를 획득할 수 있는 TV CF 연동 데이터방송 서비스를 기획하고 데이터방송 국제표준인 MHP 기반 서비스 운영 방식을 고안하였다.

모바일 RFID를 이용한 U-AD (U-AD using Mobile RFID)

  • 모발일 RFID를 이용한 U-AD(Advertisement)는 RFID태그를 읽을 수 있는 리더기를 휴대전화에 장착하여 음반, 도서, 의약품 등에 부착된 Tag의 정보를 휴대전화로 읽어 사용자에게 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 신 개념의 서비스이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 서비스를 활용하여 휴대폰의 RFID리더기로 Tag를 읽었을 때 단편적으로 밖에 볼 수 없는 광고 내용을 휴대폰으로 실시간으로 볼 수 있는 서비스 시스템을 개발하였다. 모바일 RFID를 이용한 U-AD는 소비자의 휴대폰을 이용하여 해당 상품의 정보를 구체적으로 보여줌으로써 원하는 물건인지 정확하게 알 수 있고 효율적인 구매를 유도할 수 있다. 또한 광고주 측면에서 보면 상품의 광고효과를 극대화하여 더 많은 수요를 창출하게 된다.

  • 2020년 코로나19 팬데믹 현상 이후에 소비자들의 온라인 소비가 급증하고 있으며 무점포 온라인 소매판매채널이 높은 성장세를 보이고 있다. 특히 소셜미디어가 기업의 브랜드와 제품을 알리는 홍보수단에서 직접적인 거래가 발생하는 SNS마켓으로서 위상이 높아지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 코로나19 팬데믹 현상 이후 달라진 소비자들의 행동변화가 온라인에서 농식품을 구매하는 경우 기존 인터넷 쇼핑몰과 개방형 SNS마켓과 폐쇄형 SNS마켓 등의 온라인 쇼핑매체를 선택하는데 어떠한 차이를 보이는지, 또한 농식품 제품 선택에 있어서 어떠한 유형의 제품을 선호하는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 본 연구를 위해 독립변수로 소비자의 인구통계학적 특성, 소비자 지각위험, 식생활 라이프스타일로 설정하여 온라인 구매채널 유형과 농식품 제품 선택에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 실증분석 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 소비자들이 온라인에서 농식품을 구매하는 경우 인터넷 쇼핑몰과 개방형 SNS마켓, 폐쇄형 SNS마켓 등의 쇼핑채널을 선택하는데 있어 인구통계학적 특성과 소비자지각위험, 식생활 라이프스타일의 세부요인에서 다음과 같은 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 개방형 SNS마켓을 선택하는 소비자는 여성보다 남성이 높고, 가구소득이 낮으며 건강과 맛을 추구하는 소비자들이 높게 나타났다. 폐쇄형 SNS마켓을 선택하는 소비자는 지방에 거주하며 배송에 대한 위험인지도가 높은 소비자들로 분석되었다. 기존 인터넷 쇼핑몰을 선택하는 소비자는 학력이 높고 개인소득이 높으며 맛과 경제성을 추구하는 소비자들이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 자신의 제품특성에 적합한 온라인쇼핑매체를 선택하는데 어려움을 겪는 농업인들에게 판단의 단초를 제공하여 실무적인 도움을 주고자 하였으며, 농식품 쇼핑채널로서 소셜미디어를 단순 홍보채널이 아닌 직접적인 거래가 발생하는 마켓으로서 접근하였다는 점에서 기존 연구들과 차별화 할 수 있다.

  • 자신의 미래 시간을 느끼는 정도는 그 사람의 다양한 행동에 영향을 미친다. 특히 미래를 대비하는 행동인 저축, 혹은 미래에 상관없이 지금 감정에 맞춰 행동하는 충동구매 등 다양한 소비행동이 미래 시간 인식과 맞닿아 있다. 본 연구는 미래 자기 연결성에 초점을 맞춰 현재와 미래의 자기가 이어져 있다고 느끼는 정도가 소셜 미디어에서 제공되는 이미지를 통해 얼마나 변화하는지 살펴보고자했다. 그리고 이 변화를 통해 실제 지연 보상 선택 경향성, 즉 미래의 큰 보상을 위해 현재의 쾌락적 선택을 포기하는 정도가 얼마나 늘어나는지 알아보고자 했다. 또한 이 관계가 노년에 대한 긍정적 지각과 성향적 낙관성에 따라 변화할 지를 측정하였다. 연구 결과, 다양한 나이의 사람들을 SNS를 통해 보여주는 것은 실제 참여자(20대)의 미래 자기 연결성과 소비 선택에서의 인내심을 증가시켰다. 또한 이 관계는 나이 듦에 대한 인식 수준에 따라 변화하였다.

상설할인매장애고자의 구매행동 (Purchasing Behavior of Outlet Store Patronage Consumers)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the actual state and problems of outlet stores. And examine store attributes shopping orientations information sources according to demographic characteristics for outlet store patronage group. The questionnaires were administered to 400 women living in Taegu. The data were analyzed by using Frequency Percentage Factor Analysis MANOVA. The results of the study were as follows; 1) Outlet stores in Taegu area were run as the type of agency and dealt in most brands of their own companies, There were plenty of as-sortment and merchandise. The discount rate was 50-60% Stores' locations were scattered which made shopping environment incon-venient. 2) The store attributes were composed of five factors such as fashion & products diver-sity service store reputation convenience and price. Shopping orientation were com-posed of six factors such as self-confidence for shopping brand oriented store loyalty & near-store oriented economical self-assumed shopping and difficulty of choice. Information sources were composed of four factors such as print media & display personal information advertising and store visit. 3) There were significant differences be-tween patronage group and non-patronage group in store reputation service fashion & products diversity. Patronage group is more satisfied with these three factors. There were significant differences between patronage group and non-patronage group in brand oriented and economical Non-patronage group was more brand oriented and patronage group was more economical. There were significant difference between patronage group and non-patronage group in print dedia & display factos. Non-patronage group made more use of print media& display than patronage group as information sources. There were significant differences between patronage group non-patrpnage group in age marital status and levle of education.

신문매체에서의 라이프스타일 뉴스 제작관행 연구 (A Study of the Producing Conventions of Lifestyle News in the Newspaper)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the producing conventions of lifestyle news and search for problems with these conventions. This research is about the entire process of production of lifestyle news, while dividing it into sourcing conventions and editing conventions. With this concept as a goal, we analyzed the content of lifestyle articles over the last six months in two types of daily papers, and then interviewed journalists in-depth. The results of the study indicate that as for sourcing conventions, reporting is accomplished by focusing on a reporter and using anonymous or false-named news sources. These conventions spread widely over not only ideas but also valuation of news items and security of news sources. This is because in terms of lifestyle news that is closely related to one's private life such as family relations, a reporter often attempts to prevent a news source from being exposed to secondary damage, such as the criticism of readers. In the meantime, editing conventions of lifestyle articles are irrelevant in terms of the quality of each media enterprise. Instead, these conventions are connected with the day of publication. Moreover, editors tend to approach editing conventions to spread the culture of upper classes, recognizing that the readers are consumers who have purchasing power.

온라인 쇼핑에서 헤도닉-경험가치(Hedonic-Experiential Value): 영향변수와 결과변수 (Online Hedonic-Experiential Value in Internet Shopping: Antecedents and Consequences)

  • Shopping is a work and fun for a consumer. Retailers satisfy social and physiological needs through various experiences as well as economic and rational. Do offer online shopping malls fun and hedonic experiences that offline retailers do? This study applied the hedonic-experiential value relating to the consumption dimension of fun and excitement to online shopping. Especially, a model of online hedonic-experiential value, consisted of its antecedents and consequences, was developed and identified through a survey(n=436). As the result, graphic & multi-media, site structure & design, customer services, payment, individualization, product assortment & display, interactivity, dynamic pricing factors influence online hedonic-experiential value. Also, online hedonic-experiential value significantly related to revisiting, purchasing, and word-of mouth intention of the shopping site. The implications for online retailer are discussed and further research is suggested.

냉장고 식재료 관리 시스템 '포켓스캐너' 디자인 및 구현 (Refrigerator Food Ingredient Management System 'Pocket Scanner' Design and Implementation)

  • In this study, we developed an application that can efficiently store and manage food ingredients in refrigerators. Rather than purchasing a new smart refrigerator, a small 'pocket scanner' is inserted inside the refrigerator using an existing refrigerator to track the location of food entering and leaving the refrigerator to efficiently organize the refrigerator and save time searching for ingredients. In addition, since it can automatically record the distribution period and purchase date, it notifies users through an alarm when the distribution period expires or is shortly left. As for the research method, after discovering the needs of users through in-depth interviews, the reactions of users were investigated by adding functions that fit those needs. Users felt satisfied with managing food efficiently through the 'pocket scanner' attached to the refrigerator and answered that it was very economical because various smart functions could be used without changing to a smart refrigerator. In the next study, we will also examine the usability of the application through usability evaluation.
