  • Ceramic filter has been demonstrated as an attractive system to improve the thermal efficiency and to reduce the effluent pollutants. Removal of particulates from the hot gas stream is very important in air pollution control. In particular, the elimination of the particulate matters discharged from a gas turbine at high temperature can prevent the corrosion inside the IGCC. In this study, a Lab. scale test and numerical simulation were carried out to comprehend the relationship between pulse jet pressure and recovery of pressure drop and to characterize the reverse cleaning flow through a ceramic fil-ter element under high temperature and high pressure. When the pulse-jet pressures were 2, 3 and 4 kg/$ extrm{cm}^2$, the cleaning effect increase of about 10~30% by recovery of pressure drop caused by pulse pressure. Cleaning effect at 45$0^{\circ}C$ was greater than that at 55$0^{\circ}C$ or 650$^{\circ}$ for the same pulse pressure. According to the result of the present simulation, high pressure has been formed in terminal and central regions in our models and temperature distribution caused by pulse air is to be uniform comparatively on inner surface of filter.

  • $Ni-Si_3N_4$ nano-composite coatings were prepared by pulse current (PC) electrodeposition and direct current (DC) electrodeposition techniques. The micro-structure of the coatings was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), vickers microhardness, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and wear-friction tests. The results showed that the micro-structure and wear performance of the coatings were affected by the electrodeposition techniques. Pulse current electrodeposited $Ni-Si_3N_4$ composite coatings exhibited higher microhardness, smooth surface, and better wear resistance properties as compared to coatings prepared under DC condition. The $Ni-Si_3N_4$ composite coatings prepared at 50 Hz pulse frequency with 10% duty cycles has shown higher codeposition of nano-particles. Consequently, increased microhardness and less plastic deformations occurred in coatings during sliding wear test. The XRD patterns revealed that the increased pulse frequencies changed the preferred (100) nickel crystallite orientations into mixed (111) and (100) orientations.

  • This study intends to develop a pulse discharge device to strengthen the pushing power by expanding the cavity of the anchor settlement to form a spheric root for the purpose of constructing the economical and stable anchor. and, a series of field test were carried out in order to check applicability of machines of pulse powered underreamed anchors. Through the experiments, the electrical characteristics of the pulse power equipment had been identified it and the dynamic pressure generated from the subsequent change had been measured. Here, the measured dynamic pressure is the cavity expansion pressure to impact on the ground around the anchor settlement. Since this pressure has effects of cavity expansion and bored surface hardening with dynamic hardening effects on the anchor settlement, it is expected that it will largely contribute the increase of pushing power with a strong frictional resistance.

  • This paper proposes a new deterioration diagnostic technique for power facilities by analyzing the pulse-height analysis of leakage current. Until now, various deterioration diagnostic techniques to prevent power system failures by deterioration of power facilities are suggested, and most of which measures leakage current amplitude only as a estimation parameter. In this experiment, it is known that the pulse heights of the leakage current are increased according to deterioration progress as well as there comes remarkable changes in pulse height distribution thereto. Therefore, the use of pulse height distribution in deterioration diagnostic technique makes more accurate diagnosis than the conventional method by using only leakage current value. From the application test, it is confirmed that the proposed technique has sufficient performance to diagnose deterioration of power facilities.

  • Under the background of combustion instability in solid rocket motor, to study the relationship between pressure oscillations and dynamic process of propellant flames, it is necessary to simulate an oscillation environment with certain frequency, amplitude and duration. This paper presents an experimental installation of pressure oscillation based on pulse-driving technique, with which pressure oscillations features under different pulse-driving conditions were compared and analyzed. For the pulse-driver applied in this paper, a pressure oscillation with 0.15s-0.5s duration, 179Hz-210Hz first order frequency, 0.04MPa-0.35MPa amplitude is simulated. The test results show that an oscillation with higher frequency and lager amplitude can be obtained when pulse-driver is installed on the top of the installation cavity, while on the side, an oscillation with a longer duration and approximate cavity natural frequency can be simulated.

  • The design and performance analysis of a reduced rating autotransformer based thirty-pulse AC-DC converter is carried out for feeding a vector controlled induction motor drive (VCIMD). The configuration of the proposed autotransformer consists of only two single phase transformers, with their windings connected in a T-shape, resulting in simplicity in design, manufacturing and in a reduction in magnetics rating. The design procedure of the autotransformer along with the newly designed interphase transformer is presented. The proposed configuration has flexibility in varying the transformer output voltage ratios as required. The design of the autotransformer can be modified for retrofit applications, where presently a 6-pulse diode bridge rectifier is used. The proposed thirty-pulse AC-DC converter is capable of suppressing less than $29^{th}$ harmonics in the supply current. The power factor is also improved to near unity in the wide operating range of the drive. A comparison of different power quality indices at AC mains and DC bus is demonstrated in a conventional 6-pulse AC-DC converter and the proposed AC-DC converter feeding a VCIMD. A laboratory prototype of the proposed autotransformer based 30-pulse AC-DC converter was developed with test results validating the proposed design and system.

  • In domestic case, there are no results of corresponding researches for measuring external tendon force. The purpose of the present paper is therefore to measure external tendon force by using deriving ultrasonic method. For this purpose, we designed and manufactured wedges and test system, and measured ultrasonic pulse velocity and pulse amplitude. By using measured data, we tried to analyze the characteristics of tendon force, and to derive the relationship between tendon force and ultrasonic pulse velocity, finally to develop the technic of measuring system using ultrasonic pulse velocity. So tendon force-velocity relationship was proposed by equations, and those equations of which errors were 3.92~8.77% will be possible to adapt in-site.

  • As autonomous driving performance, such as automatic emergency braking (AEB) and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), continues to improve, collision angles and occupant seating postures become more diverse, and there is a need to study how occupant injury mechanisms change depending on the type of collision. Accordingly, a representative crash test mode was derived. Using the derived crash test mode, we analyzed the crash injury mechanism according to the impact angle and the occupant's seating posture (seat back angle). Sled is a crash simulation test that applies a pulse corresponding to the vehicle body acceleration pulse generated during a collision. Sled testing has advantages in terms of cost and time compared to actual vehicle crash testing. We focus on the correlation between crash tests reflecting autonomous vehicle crash modes and Sled tests. The results obtained through this study can be used to develop new crash evaluation methods. As a result, we will present the results of an experimental study on the actual vehicle crash test Sled test method.

  • We herein investigate the E1 pulse for evaluating the conducted performance of transmission lines connected to the electromagnetic pulse protection facilities against a conducted high-altitude electromagnetic pulse threat exposed to an external electromagnetic environment. The existing E1 pulse generator uses the Marx generator high-voltage step-up method; however, in this research, we used the Tesla transformer method to easily change the broadband output voltage(30 to 350 kV). We also analyzed the controller, power supply, high-voltage booster, and pulse-shaping device. The E1 pulse performance using the Tesla transformer was predicted through simulations and validated by measurements.
