PVDF 초음파 변환기의 제작과 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Fabrication and Characteristics of PVDF Ultrasonic Transducer)

  • The authors fabricated ultrasonic transducer with PVDF[poly(vinylidene fluoride)] piezoelectric polymer film. When impulse waves were applied to the PVDF ultrasonic transducer, the dependence of the response properties on the backing material with copper was investigated through not only theoretical calculations using Mason's equivalent circuit but also experimental measurements. The experimental pulse response properties agree with those of the theoretical calculations and the pulses were shorter than those for a PZT transducer. If such short-pulse properties are used in an medical ultrasonic image diagnosis apparatus, the resolution of the apparatus will be improved. When the insertion loss was calculated theoretically to the PVDF ultrasonic transducer, the frequency characteristics of its showed wideband frequency.

  • In this paper, multi pulse excited-linear predictive coding (MPE-LPC), where the correlation eliminated residual signal is modeled by a few pules, is shown to be effective for the compression of electrocardiogram (ECG) data, and a more efficient scheme for a faithful reconstruction of ECG is proposed. The reconstruction charateristic of QRS's and P.T waves is improved using the adaptive pulse allocation (APA), and the compression ratio (CR) can be changed by controlling the mumber of modeling pulses. The performance of the proposed method was evaluated using 10 normal and 10 abnormal ECG data. The proposed method had a better performance than the variable threshold amplitude zone time epoch coding (AZTEC) algorithm and the scan-along polygonal approximation (SAPA) algorithm with the same CR. With the CR in kthe range of 8:1 to 14:1, we could compress ECG data efficiently.

  • In this paper, a new background subtraction algorithm for video based fence monitoring surveillance systems is proposed. We adopt the sampling based background subtraction technique and focus on the two main issues: handling highly dynamic environment and handling the flickering nature of pulse based IR (infrared) lamp. Natural scenes from fence monitoring system are usually composed of several dynamic entities such as swaying trees, moving water, waves and rain. To deal with such dynamic backgrounds, we utilize the confidence factor for each background value of the input image. For the flickering IR lamp, the original sampling based technique is extended to handle double background models. Experimental results revealed that our method works well in real fence monitoring surveillance systems.

  • Although ship's draught information onboard is substantial for both the safety of navigation and the estimation of loaded cargoes its accuracy depends in traditional surveying method on the skillfulness of observers and the condition of the sea surface round the vessel. To obtain more accurate information accessibly measuring instruments with sophisticated sensors such as mechanical electronic and ultrasonic transducers have been developed. however they have still limitation in accuracy and in making up a system due to the complexity of processing signal. In this paper we propose a he technique for analyzing ultrasonic pulse signal in order to improve the measurement accuracy and simplify a remote sensing system of draught by ultrasonic waves. This technique is useful for measuring draught being considered the influence of sea surface fluctuation and for transferring its data briefly to required equipment in integrated bridge system.

  • The restrictions concerning the use of the radio waves have become severe, the marine radar with low spurious is being developed. Therefore, it is necessary to develop aids to navigation as a radar beacon can respond to new type of marine radar. Because the system of radar in the future is an indetermination, new radar beacon should correspond to old and new radar system during a transition period. New radar beacon that is also able to respond to pulse radar, pulse compression radar and FM-CW radar were considered in these years in Japan. The sign of the response of Morse code in a new system is generated by the delay synthesis system. Computer simulation and actual examination using trial circuit were curried out. A big possibility was set up in the development of the new radar beacon that was able to correspond to old and new radar system. These results and the state of new radar beacon is mentioned in this paper.

  • Linear pulse motor (LPM) has the vibration during the operation because of magnetic characteristic which is caused by the mechanical configuration and the electromagnetic property. This paper proposes the calculation of thrust on the base of magnetic equivalent circuit for the purpose of the vibration minimization of LPM. The permeance of LPM is calculated and simulated from the construction tooth. The thrust is compared with the analytical method, the 3D finite element method (FEM) and the experimental values. The vibration of LPM is measured and estimated to select the input current wave for an optimal operation condition.

  • This paper was studied electromagnetic field distribution and damping of PD(Partial Discharge) signal in GIS(Gas Insulated Switchgear). Cut-off frequency of electromagnetic wave propagation modes were computed, electromagnetic field distribution of propagation modes in GIS by FEM(Finite Element Method) were simulated and simulated damping characteristic of electromagnetic waves in GIS by EMTP(Electromagnetic Transient Program) when generated PD pulse. Frequency band of $TE_{mn}/TM_{mn}$ modes were determinated by simulation results of electromagnetic field distribution and were discussed optimal position of UHF sensor from this results. Equivalent circuit was used to simulate signal damping of PD pulse in GIS by EMTP and compared with measured results in laboratory of KERI.

  • Aortic AIx(augmentation index) has been used to measure aortic stiffness and evaluate ventricular load quantitatively. Algorithm for the detection of augmentation point gradually increases the differential order to detect inflection point rather than detects the distinctive point that appears after a specific time. Developed algorithm for AIx is proved to provide more accurate results than the ones developed by previous studies with the deviation from $-11.5{\pm}14.34$ points to $-3.75{\pm}1.26$ points. Results could provide the basis for the measurement of aortic stiffness using easily-measurable radial artery pulse waves, and could be extended to develop a system for early diagnosis of various vascular diseases.

Dimming Control of LED Light Using Pulse Frequency Modulation in Visible Light Communication

  • Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are modulated using a square wave pulse sequence for flicker prevention and dimming control in visible light communication (VLC). In a VLC transmitter, the high and low bits of the non-return-to-zero (NRZ) data are converted to two square waves of different frequencies, which continue for a finite time defined by the fill ratio in an NRZ bit time. As the average optical power was kept constant and independent of data transmission, the LED was flicker-free. Dimming control is carried out by changing the fill ratio of the square wave in the NRZ bit time. In the experiments, the illumination of the LED light was controlled in the range of approximately 19.2% to 96.2% of the continuous square wave modulated LED light. In the VLC receiver, a high-pass filter combined with a latch circuit was used to recover the transmitted signal while preventing noise interference from adjacent lighting lamps.

A GN model of thermoelastic interaction in a 2D orthotropic material due to pulse heat flux

  • A GN model with and without energy dissipations is used to discuss the waves propagation in a two-dimension orthotropic half space by the eigenvalues approach. Using the Laplace-Fourier integral transforms to get the solutions of the problem analytically, the basic formulations of the two-dimension problem are given by matrices-vectors differential forms, which are then solved by the eigenvalues scheme. Numerical techniques are used for the inversion processes of the Laplace-Fourier transform. The results for physical quantities are represented graphically. The numerical outcomes show that the characteristic time of pulse heat flux have great impacts on the studied fields values.
