The General Toxicity of Novel Platinum Complexes in Rats

  • This study was performed to evaluate the general toxicity of novel Pt(II) complexes, (KHPC-002: [Pt(trans-1-dach) (DPPE)].2NO$_3$, KHPC-005: [Pt(cis-dach)(DPPE)].2NO$_3$ and KHPC-006: [Pt(cis-dach)(DPPP)]. 2NO$_3$). In the acute toxicity study in rats, three dosing groups of Sprague-Dawley male rats in each compounds were given a single intraperitoneal injection of KHPC-002, KHPC-005 and KHPC-006. In order to compare the toxic effects of these novel Pt(II) complexes with those of cisplatin, one group Sprague-Dawley male rats were given 7mg/kg i.p injection of cisplatin. Body weights showed dose-related decrease in all treatment groups when compared wi th the control group.

Populus tomentiglandulosa protects against amyloid-beta25-35-induced neuronal damage in SH-SY5Y cells

  • Alzheimer's disease constitutes a large proportion of all neurodegenerative diseases and is mainly caused by excess aggregation of amyloid beta (Aβ), which results in oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis in the neurons. Populus tomentiglandulosa belongs to the Salicaceae family and is widely distributed in Korea; the antioxidant activities of the extract and fractions from P. tomentiglandulosa have been demonstrated in previous studies. Specifically, the ethyl acetate (EtOAc) fraction of P. tomentiglandulosa (EtOAc-PT) shows the most powerful antioxidative activity. Therefore, the present study investigates the protective effects of EtOAc-PT against neuronal damage in Aβ25-35-stimulated SH-SY5Y cells. EtOAc-PT restored cell viability significantly as well as inhibited the levels of reactive oxygen species and lactate dehydrogenase release compared to the Aβ25-35-induced control group. Furthermore, the inflammation- and apoptosis-related protein expressions were investigated to demonstrate its neuroprotective mechanism. EtOAc-PT downmodulated the expressions of inducible nitric oxide synthase, cyclooxygenase-2, B-cell lymphoma 2 associated X, and B-cell lymphoma 2. Thus, the findings show that EtOAc-PT has protective effects against Aβ25-35 by suppressing oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis.

  • One of the most critical problem in etching of platinum was generally known that the etch slope was gradual. therefore, the addition of $N_2$ gas into the Ar/C1$_2$ gas mixture, which has been proposed the optimized etching gas combination for etching of platinum in our previous article, was performed. The selectivity of platinum film to oxide film as an etch mask increased with the addition of N2 gas, and the steeper etch slope over 75 $^{\circ}$ could be obtained. These phenomena were interpreted the results the results of a blocking layer such as Si-N or Si-O-N on the oxide mask. Compostional analysis was carried out by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS). Moreover, it could be obtained the higher etch rate of Pt film and steeper profile without residues such as p.-Cl and Pt-Pt ant the addition N\ulcorner of 20 % gas in Ar(90)/Cl$_2$(10) Plasma. The Plasma characteristic was extracted from optical emissionspectroscopy (OES).

흉곽출구 증후군의 물리치료 효과 (Physical Therapy Effects of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome)

  • The PT program provides relief to most patients with symptom of TOS. So the purpose of our study is to evaluate a effects of PT program in patients with TOS. PT program included orthopaedic manual therapy with the aim of restoring the function of the upper thoracic aperture is to be recommended, and long-term following is advisable. 1. Mean treatment duration was over an 11.4 day(range 4~24). 2. At the follow-up evaluation, 88.1% of the patients were satisfied with the effects of their therapy. 3. 73% of the patients returened to work after PT and 88% of the patients carried through the recommendations given at discharge during follow up. 4. Normalized grip strength and Tinel' sign predicted patient satisfaction(p< .001) and return to work(p< .001). 5. Return to work was more often successful if the work was sedentary rather than heavy (p< .05).

  • 전기도금방식으로 구현된 자기박막 재료로서 CoPtP 박막은 이제까지 보고된 재료 중 가장 높은 보자력 (H$_{c}$ > 5 kOe)과 뛰어난 각형비 (S*≒0.7)를 가지고 있는 3원계 합금 박막재료이며[1], 차세대 고밀도 자기저장매체로서 [2] 각광받고 있다. 하지만 이제까지 보고된 연구결과는 CoPtP 박막을 전기도금방식으로 제작했을 때, 두께가 약 1$\mu\textrm{m}$ 이상일 경우, 결정립이 큰 칼럼구조(columnar structure)가 성장하여 보자력이 현저히 떨어지는 현상[3]을 보여왔으며, 이러한 이유 때문에 MEMS 등에 응용되는데 많은 제약을 받아왔다. Anode processes on Pt and ceramic anodes in chloride and oxide-chloride melts

  • Platinum anodes are widely used for metal oxides reduction in LiCl-Li2O, however high-cost and low-corrosion resistance hinder their implementation. NiO-Li2O ceramics is an alternative corrosion resistant anode material. Anode processes on platinum and NiO-Li2O ceramics were studied in (80 mol.%) LiCl-(20mol.%)KCl and (80 mol.%)LiCl-(20 mol.%)KCl-Li2O melts by cyclic voltammetry, potentiostatic and galvanostatic electrolysis. Experiments performed in the LiCl-KCl melt without Li2O illustrate that a Pt anode dissolution causes the Pt2+ ions formation at 3.14 V and 550℃ and at 3.04 V and 650℃. A two-stage Pt oxidation was observed in the melts with the Li2O at 2.40 ÷ 2.43 V, which resulted in the Li2PtO3 formation. Oxygen current efficiency of the Pt anode at 2.8 V and 650℃ reached about 96%. The anode process on the NiO-Li2O electrode in the LiCl-KCl melt without Li2O proceeds at the potentials more positive than 3.1 V and results in the electrochemical decomposition of ceramic electrode to NiO and O2. Oxygen current efficiency on NiO-Li2O is close to 100%. The NiO-Li2O ceramic anode demonstrated good electrochemical characteristics during the galvanostatic electrolysis at 0.25 A/cm2 for 35 h and may be successfully used for pyrochemical treating of spent nuclear fuel.

Perovskite PMT-PT계의 강유전 특성 및 확산상전이 (Ferroelectric Properties and DPT in the Perovskite PMT-PT System)

  • Perovskite 구조의 PMT-PT계 고용체를 precursor columbite를 이용한 산화물 혼합법으로 제작하여 결정립의 성장과 상전이 현상을 분석하였다. $1250^{\circ}C$에서 4시간 유지하여 제작한 시편의 소결밀도는 이론밀도의 97% 이상이었고, 완전한 perovskite phase를 형성하였다. 치밀하게 소결 처리된 시편의 결정립의 크기는 $6\sim8{\mu}m$로 측정되었다. PMT-PT 고용체계는 복합 강유전 고용체의 전형적인 P-E 이력현상과 강한 진동수 분산특성이 관찰되었다. 특히 PMT가 70% 이하인 조성은 상전이 온도 이상에서도 자발분극이 완전히 소멸하지 않는 relaxor 특성을 보였으며, 유전상수와 유전손실의 큰 진동수 의존성을 보였다.

  • 다결정 Pt/0.1 M $H_2SO_4$수성 전해질 계면에서 중간주파수 구간의 위상이동 변화와 Langmuir흡착등온식 사이의 관계를 교류임피던스 방법 즉 위상이동 방법을 이용하여 연구 조사하였다. 제안된 계면등가회로는 전해질저항($R_S$), Faraday저항$(R_F)$, 흡착유사용량$(C_\varphi)$의 등가회로 요소($C_P$)의 직렬접속으로 구성된다 지연되는 위상이동$(\varphi)$은 음전위(E) 및 주파수(f)에 따르며, $\varphi=-tan^{-1}[1/2{\pi}f(R_s+R_F)C_p]$이다. 중간주파수(6Hz)에서 위상이동 변화$(\varphi\;vs.\;E)$는 Langmuir흡착등온식$(\theta\;vs.\;E)$의 결정에 적용할 수 있는 실험적인 방법이다. 다결정 $Pt/0.1\;M\;H_2SO_4$ 전해질 계면에서 수소의 흡착평형 상수(K)와 흡착표준자유에너지$({\Delta}G_{ads})$는 각각 $1.8\times10^{-4}$와 21.4kJ/mol이며 과전위 수소흡착(OPD H)에 기인한다.

Sensitivity of Escherichia coli to Seaweed (Ascophyllum nodosum) Phlorotannins and Terrestrial Tannins

  • Pure culture experiments were conducted to assess the bacteriostatic and bactericidal effects of phlorotannins (PT) isolated from Ascophyllum nodosum (brown seaweed) on Escherichia coli O157:H7. In Exp. 1, one non-O157:H7 strain (25922) and three strains of E. coli O157:H7 (3081, EDL933 and E318N) were cultured in M9 medium with PT included at 0 (control), 25, 50 or $100{\mu}g/ml$ (n = 3). Bacterial growth was monitored by $OD_{600}$ at 0, 4, 6, 12 and 24 h, and by dilution plating at 0, 4, 6 and 24 h. All strains were inhibited (p<0.001) by PT to varying degrees. At 50 or $100{\mu}g/ml$, PT prevented growth of all four strains. At $25{\mu}g\;PT/ml$, growth of 25922, 3081, E318N and EDL933 was inhibited for 6, 12 and 24 h, respectively, but 25922 and 3081 resumed growth by 12 and 24 h. Direct plating confirmed bactericidal effects of PT on all four strains at $100{\mu}g/ml$, and on EDL933 and E318N at $50{\mu}g/ml$. In Exp. 2, strains 25922 and 3081 were incubated with no tannins or with $50{\mu}g/ml$ of PT, purified condensed tannins (CT) from Quebracho (Schinopsis balansaei), or purified tannic acid from Rhus semialata (Anacardiaceae) as hydrolysable tannins (HT). Strain 3081 was unaffected by HT or CT, but was completely inhibited (p<0.001) by PT at 4, 6 and 24 h. Strain 25922 was unaffected by HT, slightly inhibited by CT, and almost eradicated by PT at 4 and 6 h. Transmission electron microscopy revealed tannin-mediated alterations to bacterial cell walls. Phlorotannins from A. nodosum exhibit growth-inhibiting and bactericidal effects in vitro against the strains of E. coli O157:H7 investigated. Anti-E. coli efficacy of A. nodosum PT is superior to that of terrestrial tannins purified from Quebracho and from Rhus semialata.

MFMIS 게이트 구조에서의 메모리 윈도우 특성 (Characteristics of Memory Windows of MFMIS Gate Structures)

  • To match the charge induced by the insulators $CeO_2$ with the remanent polarization of ferro electric SBT thin films, areas of Pt/SBT/Pt (MFM) and those of $Pt/CeO_2/Si$ (MIS) capacitors were ind ependently designed. The area $S_M$ of MIS capacitors to the area $S_F$ of MFM capacitors were varied from 1 to 10, 15, and 20. Top electrode Pt and SBT layers were etched with for various area ratios of $S_M\;/\;S_F$. Bottom electrode Pt and $CeO_2$ layers were respectively deposited by do and rf sputtering in-situ process. SBT thin film were prepared by the metal orgnic decomposition (MOD) technique. $Pt(100nm)/SBT(350nm)/Pt(300nm)/CeO_2(40nm)/p-Si$ (MFMIS) gate structures have been fabricated with the various $S_M\;/\;S_F$ ratios using inductively coupled plasma reactive ion etching (ICP-RIE). The leakage current density of MFMIS gate structures were improved to $6.32{\times}10^{-7}\;A/cm^2$ at the applied gate voltage of 10 V. It is shown that in the memory window increase with the area ratio $S_M\;/\;S_F$ of the MFMIS structures and a larger memory window of 3 V can be obtained for a voltage sweep of ${\pm}9\;V$ for MFMIS structures with an area ratio $S_M\;/\;S_F\;=\;6$ than that of 0.9 V of MFS at the same applied voltage. The maximum memory windows of MFMIS structures were 2.28 V, 3.35 V, and 3.7 V with the are a ratios 1, 2, and 6 at the applied gate voltage of 11 V, respectively. It is concluded that ferroelectric gate capacitors of MFMIS are good candidates for nondestructive readout-nonvolatile memories.
