An Outline of the Need for Psychology Knowledge in Health Professionals: Implications for Community Development and Breast Cancer Prevention

  • Knowledge of health and community psychology in health professionals influences psychosocial and community determinants of health and promoting participation in disease prevention at the community level. This paper appraises the potential of knowledge on psychology in health care professionals and its contribution to community empowerment through individual behavior change and health practice. The authors proposed a schematic model for the use of psychological knowledge in health professionals to promote participation in health interventions/disease prevention programs in developing countries. By implication, the paper provides a vision on policies towards supporting breast cancer secondary prevention efforts for community health development in Asian countries.

미세먼지 피해 예방 행동 증진에 대한 연구: 귀인과 위험 지각을 중심으로 (A Study on Improving Preventive Behavior against Fine Dust: Focusing on Attribution Style and Risk Perception)

  • This study was conducted to examine the influence of different styles of attribution to fine dust on preventive behaviors. In addition, the mediating effect of risk perception on the relationship between attribution styles and preventive behaviors was examined. Survey data was collected from 930 Korean people from a variety of ages and regions, and a hierarchical multiple regression analysis was used to test the hypothesis. The results indicated that both external and internal attribution to fine dust had a significant positive effect on preventive behavior. The multiple regression analysis revealed that both knowledge and dread had a significantly positive effect on preventive behaviors. In addition, risk perception (knowledge and dread) partially mediated the relationship between the external attribution to fine dust and preventive behavior. However, internal attribution showed only a direct effect on protection behaviors. The significance and limitations of the study were also discussed.

  • In this paper, we propose a behavior decision model for a robot, which is based on artificial emotion, various motivations and dynamic personality. Our goal is making a robot which can express its emotion human-like way. To achieve this goal, we applied several emotion and personality theories in psychology. Especially, we introduced the concept of dynamic personality model for a robot. Drawing on this concept, we could make a behavior decision model so that the emotion expression of the robot has adaptability to various environments through interactions between human and the robot.

행동기반 안전관리(Behavior Based Safety: BBS) 프로그램이 버스 기사 및 승객의 안전행동에 미치는 효과 검증: 현장 사례 연구 (The Effect of Behavior Based Safety Program on Safe Behaviors of Bus Drivers and Passengers: A Field Case Study)

  • This study examined the effect of Behavior Based Safety(BBS) program on safe behaviors of bus drivers and passengers. Four male bus drivers working at a H transportation company situated in Seoul participated in this study. BBS program consisted of education, prompts, and self-monitoring with goal setting. Dependent variables were the percentage of two safe driving behaviors of bus drivers (departure after stopping for 3 seconds, announcement for holding bus handles) and the percentage of one safe behavior of passengers getting on the busses those drivers drove (holding bus handles). A primary observer and two trained assistant observers measured two safe behaviors of the bus drivers with behavior checklists by riding on the busses and the passengers' safe behavior was observed by CCTV installed on each bus. An ABC multiple baseline design across participants was adopted. After baseline(A), education and prompts(B) and self-monitoring with goal setting(C) were introduced sequentially to each participant. The results showed that BBS program was effective to increase both bus drivers' and passengers' safe behaviors. Especially self-monitoring with goal setting was more effective in improving safe behaviors of bus drivers than education/prompts. These results suggest that education/prompts and self-monitoring with goal setting would be an alternative treatment technique to improve safety for lone workers such as bus drivers.

How to Utilize Sports Psychology for Better Customer Experience in Sports Retail Store as a Distribution Content Perspective

  • Purpose: Contemporary consumers are increasingly adopting public displays of their loyalty towards brands: consumer dedication surpasses loyalty in that they find various ways to show their devotion to their favorite brands. The purpose of the current study is to utilize sports psychology to improve customer experience in the sports shops. Research design, data and methodology: To investigate the purpose of the study and suggest the solutions, Epistemology methods were used to analyze the nature of knowledge and various forms of attaining knowledge. As such, epistemology asks questions such as "what are constitutes of valid knowledge?". Results: This study figured out five theoretical results to suggest for practitioners in the sports retail shop based on prior research. According to the research, sports psychology can affect consumer buying behavior which builds upon specific demographics and their differentiating behavior. The results also show that males shop with specificity, while female consumers are likely to shop for pleasure. Men are also less frequent shoppers than women. Conclusions: Above all, this study concludes that a consumer decision-making study is vital in the sports retail business, and information about consumer decision-making can be an influential factor for sports retailers to increase their competitive advantage.

안전행동 향상을 위한 칭찬과 처벌의 상대적 효과 비교 (A Comparison of the Effect of Praise and Punishment for Improving Safety Behavior)

  • This study compared the effects of praise and punishment for improving safety behaviors. Participants were 30 volunteer undergraduate students and they were randomly assigned to one of two experimental conditions: (1) praise under which positive feedback was delivered for safe behaviors, (2) punishment under which negative feedback was delivered for unsafe behaviors. A simulated computerized work task was developed specifically for this study. Participants had to work on the work task and follow seven safety rules while working. When they follow all the seven safety rules, their behaviors were considered safe. If they did not follow any one of the rules, their behaviors were considered unsafe. Results showed that the percentage of safe behavior under group of praise feedback was significantly higher than under group of punish feedback.

The Effect of Gamification on Employee Behavior: The Mediating Effects of Culture and Engagement

  • In recent years, gamification has been a hot issue due to its positive impact on organizational success. The proper application of game elements in an organizational context is required for gamification implementations. Gamification remains an area of active research for its behavior molding potential. Employee engagement is a critical component in assessing employee behavior and is considered crucial for organizational success. Research questionnaires were completed online between March 2021 and February 2022. Our targeted sample encompassed low and mid-level personnel of Asian and Middle eastern employees working in Hungary. The questionnaire was introduced using google forms. Our sample size consisted of 203 respondents (N = 203). Research results indicated gamification's significance in increasing employees' intrinsic motivation and therefore boosting organizational engagement levels. Gamification improved employees' task performance and the overall quality of work. Organizational culture had a mediating role between gamification and employees' behavior. Organizational culture and employee behavior are in close correlation. Research findings also proved engagements' mediating effect on employees' behavior. The results of the research showed that gamification in human resources has risen in popularity, especially in terms of its impact on employee behavior and performance. The study's findings demonstrated that gamification has a positive impact on organizational performance and collaboration.

소규모 제재업 사업장에서 안전통로가 안전관련 변인 지각에 미치는 효과: 탐색적 연구 (The Effect of Safety-Aisle on the Perception of Safety-Related Variables in the Small Sawmilling Industry)

  • This study examined the effects of safety-aisle on the safety climate, safety leadership, safety behavior, work loading and perceived accident risk in the small sawmilling industry. We distributed a questionnaire that measured various demographic variables, safety related variables by mail to 200 sawmilling companies. Finally 59 managers' and 129 workers' questionnaires were used for data analysis. An independent t-test was conducted to identify significant mean differences of safety related variables between safety-aisle installed and non-installed companies. Results indicated that mean differences of safety climate and safety behavior between safety-aisle installed and non-installed companies were significant. However, mean differences of safety leadership, work loading and perceived risk were not significant at the p < .05 level. Based on these results, the implications of this study and suggestions for future research were discussed.

  • 본 논문, "진정성리더십과 조직시민행동의 관계를 실증 분석"에 대한 연구임. 기업의 성과를 높이기 위해서는 리더와 구성원들의 긍정적인 상호작용과 공통된 목표달성을 위한 긍정적인 심리를 실현하는 것이 중요하다. 긍정심리자본이 높은 구성원은 주어진 업무를 수행하기 위해 자신감을 가지고, 성공적인 업무수행 결과를 기대한다. 그리고 목표를 달성하는 과정에서 문제가 생겼을 때 경로를 바로잡고 인내한다. 이렇게 자신의 심리를 바로잡거나 이를 초월하는 복합적 긍정심리상태를 긍정심리자본이라 한다(Luthans & Youssef, 2007). 이에 본 연구는 긍정심리자본을 기업의 성과와 경쟁력을 향상시키기 위한 중요한 요인으로 인식하고, 이를 매개변수로 선정하여 연구를 수행하였다.
