  • This study conducted in-depth interviews of seven parents with autistic adults and analyzed them using qualitative case study methods in order to understand overall meaning of care experiences of parents with autistic adult children. Thus, four key topics which are 'experience of embracement', 'experience of anticipation', 'experience of despair', 'experience of resistance' were constructed. Under these key topics, 12 subcategories which are 'accepting reality', 'positive experience', 'gradual improvement', 'desire to provide better quality of life', 'expectation towards the society', 'strenuous lives', 'psychological exhaustion', 'predicted anxiety', 'defensive attitude', 'distrust of social welfare', 'confronting injustice', 'active behaviors' were constructed. According to the analysis, care experiences of parents with autistic adults are not segmentary, but they are intertwined which make them more dynamic. Thus, easing their despair, empowering positiveness to them, and assisting them to have healthy resistant voice are needed to support the parents with autistic adults. Based on the analysis, we suggest an intervention plan to support autistic adults and their parents.

  • This study set out to develop clothes made of electromagnetic wave shielding materials. Among the various worker groups exposed to electromagnetic waves for long hours, railroad workers were chosen for the study. After selecting the locations they worked, the investigator measured electromagnetic wave on the field. To examine the effects of electromagnetic wave shielding materials, I applied a lining made of electromagnetic wave shielding materials to the existing work clothes. The first experimental clothes had the silver fabric for the lining in the current working clothes, the second experimental clothes had the copper- and nickel-plate polyester placed between the outer and the lining to prevent the corrosive material from contacting the skin, and the third experimental clothes had the silver fabric for the lining and the copper- and nickel-plate polyester between the outer and the lining. The results indicate that even if a fabric is evaluated to shield electromagnetic waves after tests, it cannot completely shield electromagnetic waves emitting from everyday appliances of 60Hz. Therefore, there should be ongoing development and research efforts on fabrics that can shield electromagnetic waves to a certain degree in order to develop working clothes to alleviate fatigue for those who are constantly exposed to electromagnetic waves, relieve their anxiety, offer them psychological stability and thus help them increase job efficiency.

  • There are various efforts to alleviate problems about the learning disabilities each year, however, the number of the learning disabilities has been increasing. Therefore, we need to consider and develop practical methods to help them. In this aspect, we review and examine previous research regarding the learning disabilities which are known to be general and comprehensive. Then we suggest math clinic as one of the methods to alleviate the problem. There are purposes of the math clinic. The first is to make a comprehensive diagnosis for basic (emotional, environmental, psychological) reasons as well as the learning anxiety; not only the lower achievement in learning. The second is to provide them suitable corrective programs which would help them to gain a better understanding about mathematics and a positive learning attitude. The third is to provide them applicabilities in their learning and potentialities so that we have given them foundation in mathematics. In this article, we operate math clinic for the learning disabilities, and then make an analysis of the student's error occurred in learning, and finally we suggest a demonstrative operating program of math clinic for learning disabilities.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide empirical and quantitative analysis on user's perceived privacy, security, and user satisfaction when providing visualization information about objects and service provider behaviors that users can not perceive in internet service process. Through previous research, we have examined the importance of privacy and security factors as a key factor to be considered for the characteristics of the Internet of things and the Internet of things. In addition, service blueprint, which is one of the service design methodologies to examine the flow of service usage in providing Internet service of things, was examined. In the flow of things internet service utilization, it is found that the things that are out of the user's cognitive area and the behavior of the service provider take up a large part. Therefore, the hypothesis that the trust of the Internet service security and the satisfaction of the user experience can be improved by providing the security visualization information about the behavior of the object and the invisible service provider in the non-contact aspect of the user and the object. In order to verify the hypothesis, we conducted experiments and questionnaires on the use of virtual objects' internet environment and conducted statistical analysis based on them. As a result, it was analyzed that visual information feedback on non - contact and invisible objects and service provider's behaviors had a positive effect on user's perceived privacy, security, and satisfaction. In addition, we conclude that it can be used as a service design evaluation tool to eliminate psychological anxiety about security and to improve satisfaction in internet service design. We hope that this research will be a great help for the research on application method of service design method in Internet environment of objects.

  • It is difficult to control children who exhibit negative behavior in dental clinics. Various methods are used for preventing pediatric dental patients from being afraid and for eliminating the factors that cause psychological anxiety. However, when it is difficult to apply this routine behavioral control technique, sedation therapy is used to provide quality treatment. When the sleep anesthesia treatment is performed at the dentist's clinic, it is challenging to identify emergencies using the current breath detection method. When a dentist treats a patient that is under the influence of an anesthetic, the patient is unconscious and cannot immediately respond, even if the airway is blocked, which can cause unstable breathing or even death in severe cases. During emergencies, respiratory instability is not easily detected with first aid using conventional methods owing to time lag or noise from medical devices. Therefore, abnormal breathing needs to be evaluated in real-time using an intuitive method. In this paper, we propose a method for identifying abnormal breathing in real-time using an intuitive method. Respiration signals were measured using a 3M Littman electronic stethoscope when the patient's posture was supine. The characteristics of the signals were analyzed by applying the signal processing theory to distinguish abnormal breathing from normal breathing. By applying a short-time Fourier transform to the respiratory signals, the frequency range for each patient was found to be different, and the frequency of abnormal breathing was distributed across a broader range than that of normal breathing. From the wavelet transform, time-frequency information could be identified simultaneously, and the change in the amplitude with the time could also be determined. When the difference between the amplitude of normal breathing and abnormal breathing in the time domain was very large, abnormal breathing could be identified.

  • This study was carried out to find out stress-eating relationship in obese high school girls and to investigate the factors related to stress-induced eating. The conceptual framework used in this study was individual difference model. The research method was methodological triangulation. The data of the study were collected from purposively sampled 309 normal high school girls and 314 obese high school girls in S city. 15 volunteers, obese high school girls, enrolled in this qualitative research. Quantitative data was collected from May 6 to June 10, 1997 through questionnaires about stress and stress-related eating changes and from June 23 to August 26, 1997, qualitative data was collected. The results of the study were as follows : 1. Obese high school girls were unaffected by stress(t=-1.84, p=0.0662). 2. Through quantitative analysis, obese people divided into two groups in their response to stress. One group was composed of stress- eater. The other group was composed of non- stress eater. 3. Disinhibition(t=-3.1275, p=0.0019), cognitive restrain (t=-3.1597, p=0.0017), hunger(t=-3.5878, p=0.0004) were significantly different between stress-eaters and non-stress eaters. 4. According to the interview, 5 subjects of obese girls were stress eaters, and 10 subjects were non-stress eaters. Through qualitative research, the related factors of eating were eating attitude & behavior, stimuli situations on eating, and personality. In stress-eater group, they constantly went on a diet, however, they were prompted to eat when an uneasy feeling such as anxiety, depression, annoyance developed. Their personality were entirely optimistic. Whereas non-stress eater group had no interest in diet and didn't appear to have psychological factors to stimulate eating in stressful situations. Their personality was not only optimistic but also keenly characteristic. 5. To compare obese-normal high school girls on the effect of stress in eating. Normal weigh high school girls decreased their eating when stressed(t= -13.62, p=0.0001). In conclusion, this study suggests that there are two different groups in obese high school girls in regards to eating responses on stressful situations. As a result of these finding, clinical and school nurses can detect the stress-eaters who need stress management intervention, and can apply appropriate management program according to the individual needs.
