서지전류에 대한 과도접지임피던스의 특성 (Characteristics of Transient Grounding Impedance under Surge Currents)

  • The transient characteristics of grounding systems play a major role in the protection of power equipments, electronic circuits and info-communication facilities against surges which arise from lightning or ground faults. Electronic devices are very weak against lightning surges injected from grounding systems and can be damaged. The malfunction and damage of electronic circuits bring about bad operation performances, a lot of economical losses, and etc. Therefore, in order to obtain the effective protection measure of electronic devices from overvoltages and lightning surges, the analysis of the transient grounding impedances in essential. One of this work is to examine the transient behaviors of grounding impedances under steplike currents for various grounding systems. And the other of this work is to evaluate the transient behaviors of a grid with rods under impulse currents and to investigate the effect of grounding lead wire. Transient grounding impedances of a grid with rods under impulse current waves have been measured as a parameter of the length of the grounding leads. Z-t, Z-i and V-i curves of transient grounding impedance under impulse current waveforms have been measured and analyzed. It was found that the grounding impedance gives the inductive, resistive and capacitive aspects under steplike current. Transient grounding impedance characteristics were very different with shapes, geometries of ground electrodes. Also, they were dependent on the waveform and magnitude of impulse current.

22.9kV 배전선로 중성선 설치 구조에 따른 유도뢰 차폐효과 분석 (Analysis on the Induced Lightning Shielding Effect According to the Neutral Wire Installation Structure of a 22.9kV Distribution Line)

  • The electricity distribution system in Korea is adopting a multi-grounding system. Protection of this distribution system against lightning is performed by installing overhead ground wires over the high voltage wires, and connecting the overhead ground wires to the ground every 200 m. The ground resistance in this system is limited not to exceed $50\Omega$ and overhead ground wire and neutral wire are multiple parallel lines. Although overhead ground wire and neutral wire are installed in different locations on the same pole, this circuit configuration has duplicated functions of providing a return path for unbalanced currents and protecting the distribution system against induced lightning. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the induced lightning shielding effect according to the neutral wire installation structure of a 22.9kV distribution line in order to present a new 22.9kV distribution line structure model and characteristics. This study calculated induced lightning voltage by performing numerical analysis when an overhead ground wire is present in the multi-grounding type 22.9kV distribution line structure, and calculated the induced lightning shielding effect based on this calculated induced lightning voltage. In addition, this study proposed and analyzed an improved distribution line model allowing the use of both overhead wire and neutral wire to be installed in the current distribution lines. The result of MATLAB simulation using the conditions applied by Yokoyama showed almost no difference between the induced lightning voltage developed in the current line and that developed in the proposed line. This signifies that shielding the induced lightning voltage through overhead wire makes no difference between current and proposed distribution line structures. That is, this study found that the ground resistance of the overhead wire had an effect on the induced lightning voltage, and that the induced lightning shielding effect of overhead wire is small.

  • The wave shapes of electromagnetic pulses radiated from lightning discharges are significantly changeable one of the topics concerning on EMI/EMC of modern electronic systems is the efficient and economic protection of electronic circuits against transient voltages caused by not only by cloud-to-ground lightning but also by intracloud lightning discharges. In this work, in order to obtain the detailed information about lightning electromagenetic pulses, the electromagnetic pulses radiated from intracloud lightning discharge processes were measured and analyzed statistically.

  • Lightning surge damages of low voltage equipments in building are increasing due to increase in electrical and communication networks in the information-oriented society. And electronic equipments contained electrical circuits with semiconductor are very weak against lightning surge. The surge protective devices for electronic circuit in electronic equipments and AC power lines are becoming more widely. To achieve effective method of surge protection, there are needs for correlation between lightning surge protective effect of electronic equipment and installation method of surge protective device. This paper describes as a result of experiments for correlation between lightning surge protective effect and installation method of surge protective device.

  • Electronic equipments made from electrical circuits with small-sized semiconductor are very weak against lightning surge. So, electronic equipments is protected by SPD(surge protective devices) such as Zno varistor. The SPD protect electronic circuit in electronic equipments and AC power lines from the lightning surge. Therefore to achieve effective method of surge protection, there are needs for correlation between lightning surge protective effect and installation method of surge protective device. Therefore this paper describes as a result of experiments for correlation between lightning surge protective effect and installation method of surge protective device.

A Study on Lightning Surges in Underground Distribution Systems

  • The effects of surge arresters for the protection of transmission systems against direct lightning strokes have already been reviewed by many researchers. However, their studies have not encompassed underground cable systems. Therefore, in this paper we investigate the 22.9kV combined distribution systems that have arresters and ground wires. In addition, we analyze the overvoltages on underground distribution cable sections when direct lightning strokes contact the overhead ground wire using EMTP. Finally, we discuss the effect of lightning strokes according to the change of cable length and installation of arresters. This study provides insulation coordination methods for reasonable system design in 22.9kV underground distribution cable systems.

  • A ground electrode subjected to lightning surge current shows the transient impedance behaviors. The ground electrode for protection against lightning should be evaluated in view of the transient grounding impedance and conventional grounding impedance, not ground resistance. The transient impedance characteristics of ground electrodes are influenced by the shape of ground electrode and the soil characteristics, as well as the waveform of lightning surge current. In order to propose a simulation method of analyzing the transient impedance characteristics of the grounding system in practical use, this paper suggests a theoretical analysis method of distributed parameter circuit model to simulate the transient impedance characteristics of counterpoise subjected to lightning surge current. EMTP and Matlab programs were employed to compute the transient grounding impedances of three counterpoises with different lengths. As a consequence, the simulated results using the proposed distributed parameter circuit model are in good agreement with the measured results.

  • This paper analyses the transient phenomena against single line to ground fault and lightning surge on underground power cable systems. For analysis in various fault conditions, several actual underground power cable systems are modeled using ATP In ground fault, the transient characteristic of the conductor and the sheath according to the fault current and the installation types of CCPU are analysed. In lightning surge strokes, the various unbalanced conditions including the length of crossbonded lead, the breakdown of CCPU and distance unbalance are considered. This paper is expected to contribute the establishment of proper protection methods against transients on underground power cable systems.

  • 이 논문은 서지보호기의 설치조건에 따른 보호효과에 대하여 기술하였으며, 뇌서지로부터 정보통신설비를 효과적으로 보호하는 설치기법을 제안하기 위해 서지보호기의 보호효과에 미치는 설치위치, 분기회로의 길이, 배선방법, 전선관 재료의 영향에 대해서 실규모 조건에서의 실험을 수행하였다. 그 결과, 보호하고자 하는 각각의 전자기기의 입력단에 서지보호기를 설치하는 것이 효과적이며, 선간에 서지보호기를 설치할 때는 접속선의 길이가 최소가 되도록 하는 배선방법이 효과적이다.
