  • In major wars of the 21st century, drones are expanding beyond surveillance and reconnaissance to include land and air as well as sea and underwater for purposes such as precision strikes, suicide attacks, and cognitive warfare. These drones will perform multi-domain operations, and to this end, they will continue to develop by improving the level of autonomy and strengthening scalability based on the High-Low Mix concept. Recently, drones have been used as a major means in major wars around the world, and there seems to be a good chance that they will evolve into game changers in the future. North Korea has also been making significant efforts to operate reconnaissance and attack drones for a long time. North Korea has recently continued to engage in provocations using drones, and its capabilities are gradually becoming more sophisticated. In addition, with the recent emergence of new strategic Drones, wartime and peacetime threats such as North Korea's use of these to secure surveillance, reconnaissance and early warning capabilities against South Korea and new types of provocations are expected to be strengthened. Through this study, we hope to provide implications by analyzing the capabilities of North Korea's strategic Drones, predicting their operation patterns, and conducting active follow-up research on the establishment of a comprehensive strategy, such as our military's drone deployment and counter-drone system solutions.

Through text mining, 100 key words and TF-IDF were extracted in order of frequency, and then CONCOR analysis and sentiment analysis were conducted. For Korean tourism keywords, words related to tourist destinations, travel companions and behaviors, tourism motivations and experiences, accommodation types, tourist information, and emotional connections ranked high. The results of the CONCOR analysis were categorized into five clusters related to tourist destinations, tourist information, tourist activities/experiences, tourism motivation/content, and inbound related. • The war that broke out on October 7, 2023 is prolonging and expanding into the Middle East. Although the damage from war is increasing, humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip has been halted due to UNRWA's deviant actions. Powerful countries have suspended support, and the UN is appealing for support for the Gaza Strip. All damage is borne by civilians in the Gaza Strip, especially women, children, and the elderly. Israel has selected an evacuation zone and evacuation route in the Gaza Strip and established a humanitarian aid route in the border area. However, Hamas's resistance in underground tunnels, using civilian-dense areas and civilian facilities such as hospitals and schools as shields, further amplified civilian casualties. This Israel-Hamas war requires the international community to approach it from a human security perspective. We must strengthen the UN's functions and roles to ensure that humanitarian supplies reach the field and humanitarian intervention forces ensure human dignity and basic rights. We must restore the credibility of the UN's role through the Israel-Hamas war. In addition, Korea should urge the introduction of humanitarian aid and goods, and provide humanitarian goods such as daily necessities and medicine. We must also prepare for deployment as a member of the UN peacekeeping force in the future. These activities will help Korea develop into a model country that fulfills its role as a 'global pivotal nation' and will have a virtuous cycle of international support in the event of a future crisis on the Korean Peninsula.

  • This study aims to deeply analyze the military strategies and tactics used in the battles between Israel and Hamas, to understand the military approaches, technical capabilities, and their impact on the outcomes of the conflict. To achieve this, methodologies such as literature review, data analysis, and case studies were utilized. The research findings confirm that Hamas employed asymmetric tactics, such as rocket attacks and surprise attacks through underground tunnels, to counter Israel's military superiority. On the other hand, Israel responded to Hamas's attacks with the Iron Dome interception system and intelligence-gathering capabilities, but faced difficulties due to Hamas's underground tunnel network. After six months of fighting, the casualties in the Gaza Strip exceeded 30,000, and more than 1.7 million people became refugees. Israel also suffered over 1,200 deaths. Militarily, neither side achieved a decisive victory, resulting in a war of attrition. This study suggests that the Israel-Hamas war exemplifies the complexity of modern asymmetric warfare. Furthermore, it recommends that political compromise between the two sides and active mediation efforts by the international community are necessary for the peaceful resolution of the Israel-Palestine conflict.

  • This paper concerns the dynamic relational landscape between art curating and publishing, and proposes continued interest and research on it. Publishing about art functions as a major means of mediating and disseminating art practices. It is also a metaphorical space for curating that visualizes original creations and their discourse, and also has a collective character that converges various art practices. Accordingly, this paper examines the complex aspects implied in publishing as art curating and the meaning of its manifestation. In the main text of this paper, first of all, there are authors such as Seth Siegelaub, who used publications as a space to produce works and reveal them to the public, and art critic Lucy Lippard, who founded Printed Matter and filled the space with books produced by artists. We also examine the concept of publication as an 'exhibition' through several examples. We also analyzes the historical changes that have raised the status of publications containing the voices of curators by revealing the intellectual narrative inherent in experimental curating through printed materials. Lastly, we traced Kassel Documenta's publication strategy, which gave authenticity and authority to the act of art curating and raised social attention to the curator persona. This research process is intended to promote an expanded understanding of art curating and to confirm the importance of publication, which is considered a part of curating within the art world.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose optimized cognitive warfare strategies for the Korean Peninsula by analyzing recent war case studies. Through the analysis of the Armenia-Azerbaijan war, the Israel-Palestine conflict, the Ukraine-Russia war, and the Israel-Hamas conflict, it was found that the following aspects are crucial in conducting cognitive warfare: 1) applying methods according to objectives, 2) organizing and structuring appropriately to the objectives and means, and 3) utilizing various means from both civilian and military sectors. Based on these findings, cognitive warfare strategies optimized for the operational environment of the Korean Peninsula were suggested in terms of the three elements of military innovation. From the aspect of methodology, it is recommended to develop cognitive warfare scenarios based on legitimacy and legality, and to integrate roles according to the level of warfare. Regarding organization and structuring, the establishment of a national-level control tower and the construction of an integrated response system involving civilians, government, military, and police based on legislation are proposed. In terms of means, it is suggested to utilize various tools from the civilian, government, military, and police sectors, such as North Korean defectors, psychological warfare broadcasts against North Korea, social media, and cyber operations, for auditory, visual, and message delivery. In future battlefields characterized by hyper-connectivity and hyper-intelligence, the execution of cognitive warfare will become increasingly important. Therefore, it is necessary to continuously develop optimized cognitive warfare strategies for the Korean Peninsula through comprehensive national efforts.

  • This study proposes improvements to the personnel management system for military officers in South Korea, addressing challenges posed by rapidly changing security environments and population decline due to low birth rates. The research identifies key issues in the current system, including lack of predictability in long-term service selection, limited opportunities for professional development, uncertainties in post-retirement careers, rigid organizational culture, and inadequate responses to demographic changes. To address these issues, the study analyzes personnel management practices in foreign militaries, including the United States, United Kingdom, and Israel, deriving valuable insights. Based on this analysis, the research suggests several improvement measures: enhancing predictability in long-term service selection, providing tailored job transition support for different military specialties, and expanding personnel exchanges between military and civilian sectors. Specific recommendations include clarifying long-term service selection criteria, introducing a phased selection system, strengthening connections between military specialties and civilian job sectors, expanding support for professional certifications, and increasing personnel exchange programs with public institutions and private companies. The study also outlines necessary legal and institutional reforms, strategies for securing and allocating budgets, and a phased implementation plan. The research proposes amendments to the Military Personnel Management Act, legislation for supporting retired military personnel, and the introduction of a performance-based budget management system. A systematic implementation plan is presented, divided into short-term, medium-term, and long-term phases.
