The purpose of this study is to derive basic data of the Guaranteed Maximum Price(GMP) process and to present specimens that can be used at the time of execution of CM at Risk project in South Korea. CM at Risk project is issued in South Korea, but the actual data is lack. On the other hand, CM at Risk project is universalized and the market of the CM at Risk is steadily growing. Because of that, in this study, The United States cases was selected as a sample. GMP consists of CM's fee, CM contingency, project direct cost, project indirect cost, allowance. GMP negotiations are performed before the end of design completion, and after 3 rounds of estimation comparison, preliminary GMP is confirmed. GMP can be multiple contract and it is useful for Procurement of long lead materials and early construction. If the actual cost is lower than expected GMP, sharing of the saving is an option since the conflict of interests between the client and the contractor can occur.
In developing total hospital information system, large amount of time and expense are to be spent while its results are likely to lead itself to end-users' dissatisfaction. Some of the main complaints on the part of end-users come from insufficient consideration of end-users environment as well as inappropriate representation of their requirement in the system alalysis and design. This papre addresses some advantages of Essential Logical Modeling Process for better analysis and design, explaining by example the developmental process of the Patent Management and Accounting System for a tertiary care hospital. In the case, the Essential Model, suggested by McMenamin and Palmer, proved to be an effective tool for clear separation of analysis and design phase and for better communication among system developers and with end-users. The modeling process itself contributed to better program modularity as well, shown in a Structured Chart. Difficulties in learning how to identify' essential activities' for the modeling practice were experienced in the beginnins stage, which were, however, overcome by elaborating some heuristic guideling and by rdferring to necessary tools including State Transition Diagram, Control Flow Diagram, and so many. While full evaluation of the Essential Model usag remains to wait till the completion of the case project, its strengt in making clear distinction between analysis and design phase was enough to be attractive to system analysts. The model concepts are open to many further application fields, particularly such areas as business re engineering, process remodeling, office automation, and organizational restructuring.

The development of ozone SRP (Standard Reference Photometer) designated as a G-7 project by the Korean Ministry of Environment began 1997 and is now nearly completed. With the completion of the ozone SRP we will not only acquire a qualification to participate in the international ozone calibration system but also enhance calibration credibility of ozone similarly to that of other ambient air pollution monitors. As the ozone SRP uses highly cleaned blank air that can be distinguished from general ozone analyzer, it is possible to reduce errors associated with the determination of ozone via elongation of the absorption length as long as 1 meter In addition, gas chopping method hat been adopted to cut down interference of other substances and time drift. Furthermore, the system has also been modified to minimize the strayed ultra-violet noise along the light path. In this paper, a new method for uncertainty evaluation has been introduced, which is guided by the ISO (International Standard Organization) GUM (Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement) through assessments of the uncertainty type B (that was impossible to estimate before) as well as the uncertainty type A (based on statistics).

The construction industries are facing problems of productivity, quality of work, safety, and the completion of projects in time. In construction industry a worker is exposed to hazardous environment, and has to do more physical work, effecting his health and also productivity. The automation and robotics can offer solution to many problems of the industry. In the past the major barrier to construction automation is the lack of electronic components and systems. This is solved now with the development of information technology, and the current obstacle is the high cost of automated systems, shortage of public money for R&D, and problems of acceptance. The robots employed in construction have followed the same concept as those employed in manufacturing. However, construction industry requires a different kind of robot compared to manufacturing Industry. The robots are stationery and product moves along the assembly line in manufacturing sector, but construction robots have to move about the site because buildings are stationary and of large size. The construction robots must function in adverse weather conditions, including variation in humidity, and temperature and increase the overall construction productivity rate. The major objective of the paper is to review the existing applications of building robots and to assess their implementation in building industry. A case study is considered for the implementation of robots for the painting work of the University Building at Saifabad PG College of Science, Hyderabad, India.

Cost overruns, schedule delays, and a shortage of skilled labor are common problems the construction industry is currently experiencing. Modularization and standardization strategies have the potential to resolve the various problems mentioned above and have been applied for various construction applications for a long time. However, the level of modularization remains low, and modular construction projects have not been getting the full benefits. Thus, this review investigated the cutting-edge technologies currently being utilized to develop the modular construction field. For this paper, qualified research papers were identified using predetermined keywords from previous related research papers. Identified literature was then filtered and analyzed. According to the included reviews, several technologies are being developed for modular construction. For example, automated design and monitoring systems for modularization were developed. In addition, research labs are utilizing robotic arms for modular construction to achieve a high level of completion in the construction industry, as is seen in the manufacturing industry. Despite these efforts, more research and development are necessary because some automation technologies still require manual activities. Thus, there is great potential for further development of modularization techniques, and further research is recommended to achieve high levels of modularization.

Historical construction health and safety (H&S) challenges, in terms of a range of resources and issues, continue to be experienced, namely design process-related hazards are encountered on site, workers are unaware of the hazards and risks related to the construction process and its activities, activities are commenced on site without adequate hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRAs), difficulty is experienced in terms of real time monitoring of construction-related activities, workers handle heavy materials, plant, and equipment, and ultimately the experience of injuries. Given the abovementioned, and the advent of Industry 4.0, a quantitative study, which entailed the completion of a self-administered questionnaire online, was conducted among registered professional (Pr) and candidate Construction H&S Agents, to determine the potential of Industry 4.0 to contribute to resolving the challenges cited. The findings indicate that Industry 4.0 technologies such as augmented reality (AR), drone technology, virtual reality (VR), VR based H&S training, and wearable technology /sensors have the potential to resolve the cited H&S challenges as experienced in construction. Conclusions include that Industry 4.0 technologies can finally address the persistent H&S challenges experienced in construction. Recommendations include: employer associations, professional associations, and statutory councils should raise the level of awareness relative to the potential implementation of Industry 4.0 relative to H&S in construction; case studies should be documented and shared; tertiary construction management education programmes should integrate Industry 4.0 into all possible modules, especially H&S-related modules, and continuing professional development (CPD) H&S should address Industry 4.0.

High-rise buildings are widely being constructed in the Middle-East, South-East, and East Asia. These buildings are usually willing to stand for the landmark of the region and, therefore, exhibit some extraordinary features such as super-tall height, elevation set-backs, overhangs, or free-form exterior surface, all of which makes the construction difficult, complex, and even unsafe at some construction stages. In addition to the elaborately planned construction sequence, prediction and monitoring of building's movement during construction and after completion are required for precise and safe construction. This is often called the Building Movement Control during construction. This study describes Building Movement Control of the KLCC Tower, a 58-story office building currently being built right next to the famous PETRONAS Twin Towers. The main items of the Building Movement Control for the KLCC Tower are axial shortening and verticality. Preliminary prediction of these items are already carried out by the structural design team but more accurate prediction based on construction stage analysis and combined with time-dependent material testing, field monitoring, and site survey is done by the main contractor. As of September 2010, the Tower is under construction at level 30, where the plan abruptly changes from rectangle to triangle. Findings and troubleshooting until the current construction stage are explained in detail and implementations are suggested for future applications.

The construction of Pusan National University Yangsan Hospital is a new construction of a medical town in Yangsan. It is a case that CMr participated in the project from planning to post-completion. It shows an actual proof of Construction Management business applied CM by each phase. In this case, CMr selected the design-build contractor in the planning phase and technically performed CM businesses in every single phase such as design and construction schedule management regarding application of Fast Track technique, procurement management and contract administration in phases based on the Fast-tract; technique, design review, VE in the design phase, change order management in the construction phase and operating and maintenance in the post-construction phase. This study would go far toward applying CM to Mega Turnkey projects by analyzing the problems of CMr's practical application to the project and providing guidelines for effective and efficient CM business implementation especially in the Turnkey projects.

Purpose: Aim of this study was to gather and evaluate perceptions of investigators, IRB members, and IRB administrators on the appropriateness of IRB review process and bioethical oversight system of national R&D (NR&D) projects. Method: Investigators, IRB members, and IRB administrators at 17 different institutions were surveyed using convenience sampling and survey questionnaires were partially group-specialized to consider any differences between the groups. Results: Participants included 29 investigators, 37 IRB members, and 17 administrators with response rate of 100% (83 of 83). According to the responses obtained, insufficient preparation time for constructing protocol and gaining IRB approval was one of the main problems in the IRB review process (investigator 79.3%, IRB administrator 88.2%). Also, discrepancy between NR&D and IRB's protocol formats was another major issue (IRB members 96.4%, IRB administrator 100%) and most investigators (89.7%) had to modify the original NR&D protocol to obtain IRB approval. Moreover, it was reported that 13.8% of investigators and 31.3% of IRB administrators did not submit midyear reports to IRB and for bioethical issues of NR&D projects, 17.2% of investigators did not include information on project status and safety issues in the annual reports. Conclusion: In conclusion, for successful and ethical completion of R&D projects, revision of both IRB review process and NR&D project protocol formats as well as implementation of appropriate bioethical oversights are necessary.
