  • PMIS (Project Management Information System) has been applied in the R4-PROJECT This construction project has been controlled and managed by PMIS for the whole process of project. Moreover, this PMIS is updated to the Self-regulation System for Quality and Safety Management which is integrated and developed from PMIS in R4-PROJECT. So, The Self-regulation System for Quality and Safety Management has been delivering effective communication and information distribution with various stakeholders related to project and also brought the achievement of efficient construction management. As the system is successfully utilize, the satisfaction of costumer request and the performance of no accident for 550 million hours could be attained.

Measuring the Impact of Change Orders on Project Performances by Building Type

  • The project performances can be measured in terms of meeting the project schedule, budget, and conformance to functional and technical specifications. Numerous studies have been conducted to examine the causes and effects of change orders for both vertical and horizontal construction, respectively. However, these studies mainly focus on a single project type, so this paper examines the impact of change order for cost growth and schedule overruns using four different building types to close the gap in the change order research area. A total of 211 building projects are collected from four building types: healthcare, residential, office, and education. Statistical analyses using ANOVA tests and linear regression models are used to examine the created metric $CO/day on the cost and schedule impacts. The results found that mean $CO/day values were not statistically different among building types, and that the sum of change orders is a statistically significant predictor of $CO/day. The results will help project stakeholders mitigate the negative change orders effects can be a challenge for project managers and researchers alike.

  • Cost management always being the matters for project manager as well as other entities involved the construction projects. Vietnam is emerging country, many construction works were carried out and lot of construction projects will be developed in the near future with a huge investment capital come from outside and inside Vietnam. In recent years, international project management firms enter the Vietnam construction market, some issues emerged need to be solved. In which cost and schedule of the construction project was put in a thoroughly consider of not only project management team but also stakeholders. The research attempts to identify and assess the relationship of factors affecting the construction cost in construction phase in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Five main factor groups Owners/clients; Consultants; Contractors; Resource and Other were identified to propose the solution for cost management.

Risk Influencing Factors in Performance of River Disaster Prevention Project (하천재해예방사업의 성과에 미치는 리스크 영향요인)

  • The characteristics of the construction project involved various stakeholders' involvement from the planning stage until completion of the object, which caused the uncertainty to increase. Successful construction projects require risk analysis and appropriate responses. Therefore, this study aimed to confirm the influence of risk management factors on the success of river disaster prevention construction in construction projects and the effect of moderating communication between stakeholders involved in the construction process. The Delphi method was used to derive the risk management factors of the construction process. The survey used a snow ball sampling method. For analysis, SPSS Statistic 20 and SmartPLS 2.0 were used. As a result of the study, the impact of risk management factors on project performance was found to be large in the order of time risk, quality risk, cost risk, safety risk, and construction environment risk. In addition, the impact of the communication moderating effect was large in the order of cost risk, quality risk, construction environment risk, time risk, and safety risk. In this study, it was confirmed that communication between stakeholders related to river disaster prevention work has a moderating effect that changes the ranking of impacts on project performance. This shows the importance of communication in the construction process of river disaster prevention works. This study has important significance in that it identifies the importance of risk management factors and communication in river disaster prevention works.

  • In various urban renewal projects related to real estate, developer in order to conduct the business, must get real estate inside project section directly or receive the consent for project from the owners. It must be carried out by consultation. When it fails, developer, in order to get ownership, adopts 'the Right of Claim for the sale' which has forcibleness. However, because the procedure for implementation of the right of claim for the sale is not clear, conflict between stakeholders is caused and it causes extension of period. Therefore, after examining judgments and references of judicial power for administrative litigation of the Right of Claim for the sale, by researching stakeholders of the housing rebuilding project and based on the results, finding out differences of stakeholders' recognition according to their position and problems of exercising procedure of the Right of Claim for the sale, and by presenting improvement plans of the system of the Right of Claim for the sale, contributing the success of the housing rebuilding project is the purpose of it.

  • Objective of Urban regeneration project is a recovery of urban utilities through a physical, environmental, cultural, industrial and economic regeneration. The current paradigm of urban regeneration is not a simple redevelopment as physical redevelopment or improvement. Urban regeneration project is an overall development including a central commercial capacity and business capacity for administration and management, cultural facilities, sightseeing, a residential area. So Urban regeneration project include a various project. Project management of Urban Regeneration project is widely different with general project management. For that purpose, this research would offer to contribute the success factors of urban regeneration project for successful project. For offering these, this research analyzed the properties of urban regeneration project and success factors of construction project by reviewing a literature. The principal characteristics are variety objectives of each district of urban regeneration project, a diversity of stakeholder's objectives and complex structure of stakeholders, an unstructured decision-making system, a lack of plan for business cooperation. We abstracted factors for urban regeneration from brainstorming and verification by experienced experts. We suggest 2 factors related to achieving a goal effectively and 10 factors related to progress of urban regeneration project efficiently.

  • An information system in a construction project has been typically used for drawing, document management, and administration process. And it has limitations to support real-time communication and collaboration among project stakeholders. The objective of this research is to improve communication, information share, and task management by developing a collaboration platform among project stakeholders supporting various communication methods and contents. The platform developed in this research, named as CCP, aims to support communication and collaboration related activities beyond the scope of legacy systems at construction sites. CCP was validated through pilot test and user survey, and it was found to be very helpful for sharing and distributing information, tracking and recording, and improving a user's work capability.

  • The objective of this research is to propose the policy alternatives which can assist schools to effectively carry out the School Space Innovation Project (SSIP) of the Ministry of Education. The Emotional Space Project (ESP) of Gangwon-do School District was analyzed as one of representative SSIPs. Chapter II analyzed the project process and stakeholders involved in the ESP. Chapter III carried out the interview with the representative stakeholders that had participated in each step. The interview described the major problems ESP and SSIP have. Finally, Chapter IV proposed the comprehensive alternatives to deal with the problems, such as improving the effectiveness of project information sessions, strengthening the competencies of facilitators, and developing guidelines. It is expected that the research alternatives can be applied for developing innovative school spaces more suited to school scenes as well as helping effective operation of SSIP in schools.

A Case Study of Resolving Conflict in Energy Infrastructure Siting by the Solar PV Project

  • The growing demand for new energy infrastructure has often been encountered with the difficulties of siting in power plants and electric transmission lines. Siting such large-scale and complex facilities produces so many-sided issues that it is highly necessary to develop an approach to resolving the related problems and conflicts. This paper introduces how the stakeholders have handled the issues and resolved conflicts with residents opposed the construction of 765 kV transmission line. The solar photovoltaic power generation, called "Hee-Mang Sunlight Power project", is used for persuading residents to agree with constructing high-voltage transmission line and sharing benefits. It is considered how the project performance such as generation output and resident's profits is and proposed what the project should be revised and supplement. The project is shown that the intractable spiting in energy systems can be smartly resolved with cost-effective institutional solutions instead of relatively expensive technical ones.

  • The objective of this paper is to propose a conceptual framework of a BIM based collaboration supporting System, called Construction Project Life Cycle Management (CPLM). The framework of CPLM is proposed by reflecting the characteristics of the AEC industry such as deliverly methods, process, fragmentation, etc.. And it is a system intended to help project participants make better decisions and to facilitate coordination between various stakeholders in a project by providing virtual collaboration environment.
