Development of an Escalator Simulation Program for a Designer (설계자를 위한 에스컬레이터 전용 시뮬레이션 프로그램 개발)

  • When an escalator is developed or modified for improved performance, estimation of dynamic characteristics of the escalator is required. But modeling of the escalator for a design purpose is very difficult and time consuming process. Especially, it is very difficult for the designer to use the simulation model during design process because it takes time and also the designer needs to know how to use the simulation program. In order to solve these problems, a graphic user interface program that can predict dynamic characteristics of an escalator is developed for the designer. Since this program has the necessary complicated escalator model inside, the designer does not have to know how to use the simulation program and design parameters can be obtained while design is in progress. The developed designer oriented interface program is explained and an example is shown.

  • As RC structures in the marine environment rapidly increase, the interest and the importance of Chloride Penetration durable design have been growing. However, there is hardly any domestic Chloride Penetration durability of RC structures designed analysis programs. Currently, Chloride Penetration durable design method is studied and launched actively as a program in the United States, Europe, Japan and etc., but it is limited to Chloride Penetration durability of RC structures excluded from maintenance construction. Also, the level of dependence on the foreign technology is high; the foreign program is imported and used when needed. The main objective is to compare and to evaluate with the durability assessment program and several conditions when considering the design of Chloride Penetration durability through the programs developed abroad.

  • In this study, Automatic design program creates 3D solid models and constructs them. The method of making assembly model is two. One assembles the element made in automatic design program with hand, the other develops the automatic design program for creating assembly model. Automatic design program improves the convenience of user. In creating gears, involute ewe and Trochoidal fillet curve are made by mathematical development.

  • With rapidly changing modem information technology, the structure of our lifestyle has underwent much changes in our society. One of these changes is an immense distribution of computer desks, which became necessities of life in various organizations, companies and public offices as well as at home. Therefore, many companies are faced with the necessity of bringing about a new product with esthetic needs and new functions and come to have opportunities to make profits from top-quality products based on competitive design development. The academic design support program in collaboration with industry can provide design-related industry with a design assistance for a new product development, in addition, it can give to the professional faculty of the college the chances to contribute to advancement of design industry of the nation. To accomplish the need and purpose of this research, the design development of unified computer desks was carried out with the introduction of life-long Universal design concept named ‘Design For All.’ The theoretical background of this study researched all the literature on the terms definition of a computer desk, the concept and definition of Universal design and design support program in collaboration with industry and performed data analyses for a product development through an analysis of domestic products and a benchmarking of foreign products. On the basis of these theoretical background and analysis results, this research brought out a new product through designing processes and the information of this production could be utilized via the feedback of a new product. That is, this research was done for a practical use.

  • If optimum design technique is applied in the design of packaging container for bulk materials, merits on the side of not only economic and compression performance but distribution efficiency are expected. In this study, on the ground of the optimum models for required board area and compression strength performance, optimum design program having faculties of outward and inward optimum design and information design was developed. This program was composed of input module, output module, database and management module, and calculation module. Though the packaging specifications ars same, requied board area, board composition and cost of container were greatly different according to exterior packaging conditions. Also, about 12% in weight of container was lighter, and about $13{\sim}17%$ in cost of container was reduced when the program was applied for 2 kinds of bulk materials.

Convergence Learning Program based on Childhood's Sociopsychological Development and Design Thinking

  • This study inquired about the convergence learning program for childhood based on Erikson's play theory and design education for children's behavior development. I analyzed the convergence learning programs of Summer Camps in the Pacific Science Center, Galileo Learning. The contents of the programs show the most used imaginary and symbolic contents that represent the real-world problems which are related design thinking process. The curriculums and structure of the programs are based on the design thinking method and K-12 theory. The visual thinking method and the applications are used for expressing their creativity and approaching the technical skills easily. The play concept theory is an affirmative way to strengthen the children's psychological and social development. Therefore, the convergence learning program should integrate the design thinking process and apply the play concept theory for supporting and developing the children's behavior.

  • The Purpose of concrete mix design is to determine the most economical and practical combination of materials in order to produce a concrete that will satisfy the performance requirements at any particular conditions of use. Mix design is regarded as a very complicated work, because for fulfilling this purpose deep understanding about the mix design is required. Mix design procedure of concrete is discussed in this study and a computer program for mix design using visual basic as 1anguage was developed. Even though beginners about concrete engineering. they can determine concrete mix proportions easily with the program.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of interest in science and STEAM Literacy through the use of the design based STEAM program utilizing Smart Device for elementary students. For the purpose of this study, a teaching plan and worksheet for students using STEAM Programs was developed and applied. The results of this study are as follows: First, the improvement in the interest in science score has statistically meaningful difference(p<.05). Second, the change in students^{\backprime} STEAM Literacy by applying the design based STEAM program utilizing Smart Device has statistically meaningful difference (p<.05). Third, according to the analysis of a questionnaire used to evaluate the program, students had a positive perception of the STEAM program and gained higher level of satisfaction about the lesson. Therefore, design based STEAM Program utilizing Smart Device applied in this study might be useful to improve STEAM Literacy, and can be expected to improve interest in science and should be widely applied to Science education.

  • This paper presents a railway network design problem (RNDP), which can be formulated as a bi-level program. In bi-level program upper level program is to minimize total travel cost including the construction cost of the railway facilities, whilst lower one describes the railway route choice behavior of passengers. We also propose a heuristic method for solving the program because it is a kind of NP-hard problem. From two numerical railway examples, we confirm that the RNDP and its algorithm produce a reasonable solution and that it is applicable to real world.

Development of High School Home Economics Financial Consumer Education Program based on Backward Design (백워드 디자인에 기반한 고등학교 가정교과 금융소비자교육 프로그램 개발)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a high school home economics financial consumer education program based on backward design and validation by experts. The program was designed and developed by first selecting learning content elements through a review of existing research and an analysis of relevant literature. The next step was to categorize these elements into seven themes and apply the backward design instructional design model 2.0. The program was prepared in the form of a 21st teaching-learning course plan and workbook and was verified by nine home economics teachers with working experience in high school. The evaluation revealed that the average value for all questions was 3.81 (out of 4 points) and the CVR was .99, indicating that the program was valid. In addition, positive evaluations were received in terms of learning goals, content level, and learner participation by class. This study has significance in that a systematic financial consumer education program was developed by Education of Home Economics to improve the financial literacy of high school students. It can therefore be used as an elective course (mini-course) in Home Economics in the high school credit system. A follow-up study will be required to assess the improvement in financial literacy after implementing this program.
