Most companies in the IT service industry have suffered from low profitability although this industry is highly value added, which may result in losing the competitiveness of the industry. The purpose of this study is to identify the influencing factors on the profit improvement rate of IT service projects and suggest how to improve the profit improvement rate, thus recovering the competitiveness of the IT service industry. The 273 IT service projects conducted by an IT service company in Korea during the past three years were analyzed and the project managers who performed these projects responded to the questionnaire developed in this study. The result from the analysis of data collected shows that the influencing factors on the profit improvement rate of IT service projects include scheduling, experience in similar projects, the leadership of project leaders, the level of team skills, relationship with clients, and clients support.
This study was undertaken to examine the profit efficiency and its determining factors, the investment opportunity, and the challenges of shea butter producers in the northern region of Ghana. The methods employed in this research were the Stochastic Profit Frontier (SPF) model, gain-cost and investment return analyses, as well as Kendall's W statistic using primary data collected from 120 purposively-selected respondents. Results from the analysis indicated that profit efficiency was positively influenced by sex, household size, marital status, educational level, transportation cost, store rent, and price of shea nut with a gain in profit efficiency of 58.5%. The investment analysis demonstrated a net gain per person of $8,077 equivalent to GH₵ 28,270 Ghanaian cedi (GH₵) using 2016 exchange rate (GH₵ 3.5 = $1). Among the challenges identified, the poor quality of shea nuts was the most prioritised challenge with 72.8% agreement among the respondents. Based on these findings, it was recommended that proper training and education, as well as improvement in shea nut quality, should be promoted to improve the profit efficiency of shea butter producers.

Purpose - This study aims to improve the distribution structure of the OLED market and develop cost-effective optimization techniques. Specifically, it is a study on the optimization of ferric chloride to improve the etch of SUS MASK for OLED. Research design, data, and methodology - Applying the optimal conditions of the experiment, the final confirmation was evaluated for improvement by the Process Capability Index (Cpk). It is possible to derive social performance such as improvement of precision of SUS MASK manufacturing, economic performance such as defect rate, reduction of waste generation and treatment cost, technological achievement such as SUS MASK production technology, improvement of profit structure of technology development and process improvement do. Results - The improvement of the Cpk before the improvement was made was confirmed to be 0.57% with a defect estimate of 25.07% with a failure estimate of 0.57% after the improvement, and 8.84% with a failure estimate of 0.57% level after the improvement. Conclusions - If the conclusions obtained from the specimen experiment are applied to the manufacturing process of SUS MASK, it will be possible to expect excellent cost-effective competitiveness due to the improvement of precision and reduction of defect rate to enhance the OLED market penetration.
The amount of the Korean export & import in 1987 reached $88.3 billion which was 1.75% of the total world trade and the proportion of foreign dependence to G.N.P was 74.5%. From these facts, we can infer that the development of national economy is largely dependent upon trade. Therefore the role of transportation, especially Ocean transportation, as a basis of economic development through trade is one of the main factors that can not be passed over. Here, We can define that a port as a subsystem of transportation determines the efficiency of the total transportation system. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to contribute in improvement of the efficiency in port, reinforcement of the international competitiveness for exporting goods by the analysis of the cargo handling charges. In order to do this, this paper deals the case of B.C.T.O.C. Furthermore, this study gives some important informations related to the level of tariffs for establishing an autonomous port administration. The Summary of the conclusions of this paper is as follows ; 1) The object of port administration in Korea has been emphasized on the maximization of efficiency in using the port facilities. Nowadays, however, it should be moved to a direction that port is operated under the compound aims considering the public interests and economy. 2) For a criterian of tariff calculation, A tariff system based on the cost accounting is desirable. In general it is recommended that the cost for construction, management, and operation of port is compensated by the revenue from port operation. Therefore, it is necessary for the administration bodies of each port to establish a tariff system on the basis of the independent profit system. 3) For the investigation of actors of tariff adjustment by the Break-even point analysis, (1) When we conducted the B.E.P analysis using total cost as cost term, we got 3.8% discount in tariff at 12% of target profit rate and 1.5% discount at 15% of rate. when we set the target profit rate as 17% we could have the proper tariff level. (2) When using operating cost as cost term, we got 13.1% discount in tariff at 12% of target profit rate and 10.9% discount at 15% of rate. When setting the target profit rat as 28%, we could have the proper tariff level. 4) Comparing with the tariffs of foreign ports for the basic terminal rate, The tariff level of B.C.T.O.C showed 33% of stevedoring charge and 80% of marshalling charge incurred at Kobe port. The comparison with Singapore port gave 50% of transhipment charge and 17% - 20 % of stevedoring charge. 5) We found that the financial structure of B.C.T.O.C was better than those of other companies and the worth fixed assets ratio was too low. The fact of low worth fixed assets ratio implies that the cargo handling facilities should be increased. Moreover, The return of assets for B.T.T.O.C was good but non-operating expenses were still contained too much in. Therefore, we think that it is necessary for B.C.T.O.C. to rationalize business management. Although the present cargo handing charge for B.C.T.O.C is a proper level in terms of a public corporation, for the final recommendation in connection to the results, It is required to take the rationalization process for business management.

Energy is essential factor of production for a firm to produce goods and services. If so, what is the condition of maintaining profit of a firm when energy price is going up? In conclusion, the condition is that the rate of productivity improvement should be greater than the rate of energy price increase. To put this concretely, when the elasticity of energy price as to the productivity improvement is greater than the weight of the energy cost on to the total revenue of the firm, the firm can escape the negative effect of energy price increase. This is that, saying that once more, the firm have to reduce the energy cost or promote energy efficiency to maintain appropriate or sufficient profit when energy price is going up fast. Therefore, in this study we will analyze the effect of the oil price increase on the energy saving investment and that of energy saving investment on the energy efficiency in the field of Korean manufacturing industry. In doing so, this study could show that the effect of energy price increase on the energy efficiency of the firm and the factor of that mechanism.
The objective of this study is to suggest the improvement method of the profitability in our marine fish culture business. So I investigated the actual condition for aquaculture farms in South Sea coast by the question and actual survey. 1 recognized the following facts; 1) The marine floating netcage system are a great portion in two province - Kyeongnam and Cheunnam, 2) The rockfish are reared absolutely much more than the olive flounder, 3) The polyculture by various species are more carried out than the monoculture of the olive flounder or rockfish, etc. I analyzed the profitability in olive flounder monoculture, rockfish monoculture, olive flounder and rockfish polyculture, and rockfish polyculture taking turns year by year respectively. At a result I comfirmed that the net income to net sales was the highest in the olive flounder monoculture bacouse the olive flounder,s sale price was higher than rockfish price. But internal rate of return(IRR) and net present value(NPV) were high in the olive flounder and rockfish polyculture or the rockfish taking turns polyculture. The reasons were alttributed to their high utility of a netcage and to reduction of a capital cost. So, I suggest 1) to feed the bigger product in short term, 2) to reduction of a feed and seed cost, 3) to increase a survival rate of fish and 4) to enlarge production by highly utilizing a netcage. And I recognized that a aquaculture manager should make constantly an effort to gain more profit by rearing more good products and by reducing a production cost.

This study defined the appraisal items of technology appraisal for investment as innovation characteristics and derived the determining factors for predicting high-growth companies. Through this, we presented a direction for improving the technology appraisal model for investment. High-growth companies were classified into high-growth companies in sales, high-growth companies in operating profit, and high-growth companies in both sales and operating profit. At this time, the concept of a gazelle company was applied and defined as a company with an average growth rate of 20% or more over three years after the appraisal year. As for the analysis results, in terms of technicality (appraisal items), it was significant in predicting high-growth companies in sales and high-growth companies in sales and operating profit. Therefore, it will be possible to increase the discrimination power of predictions by strengthening the technicality (appraisal items). On the other hand, the business feasibility (appraisal items) was significant in predicting high-growth companies in sales and high-growth companies in sales and operating profit, but in a negative direction. This is due to the composition and criteria of the business feasibility (appraisal items), and it was concluded that changes to the composition and criteria for the relevant items are necessary for future model improvement.
Recently strategic alliance between business firms has become prevalent to overcome increasing competitive threats and to supplement resource limitation of individual firms. As one of allianced sales promotion activities, a new type of discount program, so called "Alliance Card Discount", is introduced with the partnership of credit cards and loyalty cards. The program mainly pursues short-term sales growth by larger discount scheme while spends less through cost share among alliance partners. Thus this program can be regarded as cost efficient discount promotion. But because there is no solid evidence that it can really deliver profitable sales growth, an empirical study for its effects on sales and profit should be conducted. This study has two basic research questions concerning the effects of allianced discount program ; 1)the possibility of sales increase 2) the profitability of the discount driven sales. In F&B industry, sales increase mainly comes from increased guest count. Especially in family restaurants, to increase the number of guests we need to enlarge the size of visitor group (number of visitors for one group) because customers visit by group in a special occasion. And because they pay the bill by group(table), the increase of sales per table is a key measure for sales improvement. The past researches for price & discount sensitivity and reference discount rate explain that price sensitive consumers have narrow reference discount zone and make rational purchase decision. Differently from all time discount scheme of regular sales promotions, the alliance card discount program only provides the right to get discount like discount coupon. And because it is usually once a month opportunity given by the past month usage level, customers tend to perceive alliance card discount as a rare chance to get. So that we can expect customers try to maximize the discount effect when they use the limited discount opportunity. Considering group visiting practice and low visit frequency of family restaurants, the way to maximize discount effect should be the increase the size of visit group. And their sensitivity to discount and rational consumption behavior defer the additional spending for ordering high price menu, even though they get considerable amount of savings from the discount. From the analysis of sales data paid by alliance discount cards for four months, we found the below. 1) The relation between discount rate and number of guest per table is positive : 25% discount results one additional guest 2) The relation between discount rate and the spending per guest is negative. 3) However, total profit amount per table is increased when discount rate is increased. 4) Reward point accumulation & redemption did not show any significant relationship with the increase of number of guests. These results suggest that the allianced discount program substantially contributes to sales increase and profit improvement by increasing the number of guests per table. Though the spending per guest is decreased by discount rate increase, the total amount of profit per table is improved. It seems the incremental profit by increased guest count offsets the profit decrease. Additional intriguing finding is the point reward system does not have any significant impact on the increase of number of guest, even if the point accumulation & redemption of loyalty program are usually regarded as another saving offers by customers. In sum, because it is proved that allianced discount program with credit cards and loyalty cards is effective to both sales drive and profit increase, the alliance card program could be recommended as strategically buyable program.
The data including milk yields, fat and protein percent for 628,395 heads collected by National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, 15 type traits and final score for 62,262 heads collected by Korea Animal Improvement Association, which were born in 1998 to 2004, and net profits calculated from milk price and raising expenses of individuals were used to estimate genetic parameters. The highest positive genetic correlation, 0.81, was shown between body depth (BD) and loin strength (SR). Genetic correlations between body depth (BD) and udder depth (UD), front teat placement (TP) and front teat length (TL) were -0.23, which were lowest among the linear type traits. Furthermore, medium level of negative genetic correlations were shown the milk yield with milk contents rate traits. Mostly low level of positive genetic correlations were shown between the milk traits and linear score traits except milk yield and stature. Most of the genetic correlations of between the linear score traits and net profit were low level of positive or negative genetic correlations. Among the genetic correlations, body depth (BD), angularity (DF) and rear attachment width (UW), and final score (FS) with net profit were high as 0.17, 0.17, 0.18 and 0.18, respectively. Finally all of the genetic correlations between net profit and milk traits were positive and higher than the linear traits with positive genetic correlations. The results of this study suggest that net profit has been related with the linear traits, such as body depth (BD), angularity (DF) and rear attachment width (UW) traits, and furthermore, milk traits including yield and contents rates influence positively and greatly on net profit.
