  • We have studied the high-resolution $H{\alpha}$ and Ca II $8542{\AA}$ line profiles of Ellerman Bombs (EBs) obtained with the Fast Imaging Solar Spectrograph (FISS) installed on the 1.6m Goode Solar Telescope (GST) in Big Bear Solar Observatory (BBSO). The FISS spectra of EBs are compared with synthetic profiles computed using RH non-LTE radiative transfer code and a set of 1D atmospheric models with local transient heating, the latter of which is modeled by varying local temperature enhancement in magnitude and height. We could reproduce each of the observed $H{\alpha}$ and Ca II line profiles separately with different atmospheric models, but not with a single atmospheric model. To fit the observed $H{\alpha}$ lines we often need much higher temperature enhancements than those needed for fitting Ca II lines. Possible causes for this temperature mismatch are briefly discussed.

  • In the present steady the flow characteristics of turbulent steady flows were experimentally investigated in the exit region of join stream. The experimental was carry out to measure the velocity profiles of air in a square duct. For the measurement of velocity profiles, a hot-wire anemometer was used. The experimental results shows that the velocity profiles do not change behind the fully developed flow region , which is defined as dimensionless axial direction x/Dh=50. In addition, the gradient of shear stress distribution became stable as the flow reached progress downstream.

  • The rolling-stocks on conventional line have suffered wheel problems due to the incompatibility between wheel and track condition. Especially, The 1:40 coned wheel profile's wear is very severe and these increase wheel maintenance cost. Thus we designed several arc-type wheel profiles coned 1:/20 to reduce the wheel flange wear and analyzed the dynamic performance of designed profiles. Tests carried out in service line to analyse the dynamic performance and verify the wear reduction for two cases of profiles. Test results shows the equal level of dynamic performance and the improvement of wheel flange wear compared with the conical wheel profile coned 1:40.

  • The geometry of wheel and rail profiles is the primary contributor to wheel and rail interaction. These profiles interact to influence truck steering, vehicle lateral stability, wheel/rail wear and surface damage. Maintaining good control of the profiles is one of the keys to ensuring preferred wheel and rail interaction. Transportation Technology Center, Inc., Pueblo, Colorado, is developing an automated measurement system for wheel/rail contact condition inspections supported by AAR(Association of American Railroads). The system uses a modified version of $WRTOL^{TM}$ (Wheel/Rail Tolerances)--software that performs extensive analysis of wheel and rail contact conditions

  • For the investigation of the hardness profiles and distortion characteristics of SCM415 steel, test pieces of SCM415 steel were gas and vacuum carburizing treated. The hardness profiles and distortion characteristics of vacuum and gas carburized SCM415 steel show different results. Vacuum carburizing can offer more improved hardness profiles than alternate methods of carburizing. Compared to alternate methods of carburizing, vacuum carburizing can offer improved mechanical properties and reduced cycle times of the process.

  • From the HCN observations of dense molecular cloud L694-2, Lee et al.(2007) determined internal distributions of density and velocity for the cloud. The density profile collaborates roughly with the Bonnor- Ebert gas sphere, but the velocity field departs significantly from the result of numerical simulations that are started from the BE sphere. Taking L694-2 as an example of collapsing clouds, we have performed a series of collapse simulations and determined initial configurations for the cloud in such a way that the resulting density and velocity profiles both match with the empirically deduced ones. Among many trial configurations the cloud which is initially uniform in density and bound by an expanding envelop depicts most closely the empirically obtained profiles of both density and velocity.

  • A numerical analysis was performed on magnetic field effects of silicon melt motion in Czochralski crystal puller. The turbulent modeling was used to simulate the transport phenomena in 18' single crystal growing process. For small crucible angular velocity, the natural convection is dominant. As the crucible angular velocity is increased, the forced convection is increased and the distribution of temperature profiles is broadened. The cusp magnetic field reduces effectively the natural and forced convection near the crucible and the temperature profiles of the silicon fluids is similar in the case of conduction.

  • A study on the lattice damages and impurity depth profiles have been performed with BF2 ion implanted silicon materials. Electrical measurement, SIMS and TEM analysis techniques were used in order to identify the reverse annealing phenomena, impurity depth profiles and lattice damages. A typical reverse annealing phenomena were shown at the dose of 1x10**15/cm\ulcorner and non-reverse annealing at the dose of 5x10**15/cm\ulcorner This was explained with the formation of the amorphous region at BF2+ ion implantation with high dose. That is, the amorphous reigons were recrystallized centrated at certain regions were measured by SIMS technique. The dislocation loops-like crystalline defects were observed with TEM cross sections, which were formed at the lattice damaged region during annealing process.

  • In this paper an experimental investigation of characteristics of developing transitional unsteady flows in a square-sectional 180。 curved duct are presented. The experimental study using air is carried out to measure axial velocity profiles secondary flow velocity profiles and entrance length by using Laser Do ppler Velocimeter(LDV) system. The flow development is found to depend upon Dean number dimensionless angular frequency velocity amplitude ration and cur-vature ratio. Of special interest is the secondary flow generated by centrifugal effects in the plane of the cross-section of the duct. The secondary flows are strong and complicate at entrance region. The entrance length of transitional pulsating flow is obtained to 120。 of bended angle of duct in this experimental conditions.

  • The velocity profiles in the laminar free convection boundary layer on a uniformly heated vertical plate are measured by a Laser Doppler Velocimeter for air in the range of modified Grashof number G $r_{\chi}$*=1.172x10$^{9}$ . The fringe mode, forward scatter type of the LDV system is used and the small magnesium oxide particles are used for the scattering pafticles. The analytical non-dimensionalized velocity profiles are obtained by use of an analog computer for the comparison with the experimental results. The experimental reults are in good agreement with the analytical solution obtained with an aid of the analog computer.er.
