Attitudes of Nursing Educators Toward Percussional Nursing (간호학 교수들의 간호전문직에 대한 태도 조사연구)

  • This study of nurse educator's attitudes which found aspects of professional nursing was carried out from September 10 to 30, 1977. Subjects were 205 respondents from a total population of 314 nurse educators from the level of instructors to professors in all the diploma (post high school 3 year), professional junior college (3 year level) and university (4 year) nursing schools in Korea. Specific objectives were to determine their attitudes about the 1. social position of nursing as a profession, 2. nurses attitudes towards their word, 3. factors influencing the development of nursing, 4. the future of nursing, 5. nursing educational problems, 6. their own educational position's intrinsic job satisfaction and 7. their salary and benefits. The instrument used was a questionnaire developed from consultations with nursing educators and sociologists, and based on earlier. worts by Burke (1976), Mason (1974) and Hong 1969. Data were analysis by computer using one-way analysis. Statistically significant findings included the following; 1. Responses were positive toward all seven aspects of professional nursing. 2. Compared to diploma nursing school staff whose responses were positive, professional and university school faculty response toward the social position of nursing were neutral. 3. Faculty with clinical experience of 10 to 19 years were most positive in their responses about nurses' attitudes towards their work. In all three types of schools, in comparison to professors, associate professors' responses were more positive about nurses' attitudes toward their work. Faculty with longer clinical experience expressed high agreement with statements about factors which influence the development of nursing. Without any differences between school, all faculty had positive attitudes towards the future of nursing, the younger the staff member, the more positive were the responses. 4. faculty in diploma schools and those with 10 to 19 years clinical experience expressed high agreement with statement about nursing educational problems, 6. their own educational position's intrinsic job satisfaction and 7. their salary and benefits.   • This study attempts to identify the professional competency of local children's centers' workers, and examine their impact on case management performance. To achieve the purpose of this study, 189 children's centers' workers with 2 or more years of experiences in Busan and Gyeongnam areas participated in the research. The results showed that the professional skills and capabilities of workers have substantial impact on case management performance. Moreover, the study also proved that social work values have a moderating effect in the practice. This study suggested that for the purpose of improving the competency and professional practice in local children's centers, it is necessary to equip workers with specified education programs and effective law manuals.

Evaluation of the Possession of Measurement and Analytical Instruments in Domestic Work Environment Monitoring Service Providers (II) (국내 작업환경측정기관의 측정 및 분석장비 보유실태에 대한 고찰 (II))

  • Objectives: The aim of this study is to analyze the current status of possession of measurement and analytical instruments at work environment monitoring organizations and their relationships with human resources, including the number of professional engineers and evaluation scores resulting from evaluation programs in 2012. Materials: Data for measurement and analytical instruments were gathered by inspectors who had been assigned by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency(KOSHA) and the Ministry of Employment and Labor(MoEL) during the evaluation program for 2012. Data for 11 monitoring instruments and nice pieces of analytical equipment were collected from 103 organizations. Additional data such as the type of service provides and the number of professional engineers employed were also recorded by the inspectors. Evaluation scores could be acquired from KOSHA. Results: Comprehensive Occupational Health Service Providers showed good operation quality, while University or Hospital Subsidiary and Work Environment Monitoring Organizations recorded relatively poor results. Evaluation scores correlated well with the possession of measurement instruments and human resources for each organization. High yields provided by professional engineers also showed statistically-associated contributions to evaluation scores and monitoring instrument possession. Compared with monitoring instruments, the amount of analytical equipment had little positive impact on organizations' competence. Conclusions: The evaluation results for domestic monitoring organizations revealed that human resources, possession of instruments, and the quality of employees were critical factors for operating the corporations. Each organization should give considerable effort to improving their ability to strengtheninternal quality, resulting in high-yield production for workers and employers by providing improved workplace monitoring services.

A Theoretical Study on Family-Friendly Management - Dual Agenda Approach - (이중의제접근을 통한 가족친화경영)

  • The purpose of this study is to review previous domestic and foreign studies and to investigate personal work-life harmonization through theoretical research on familyfriendly management using a dual agenda approach. The authors briefly identified trends and critically reviewed domestic researches on family-friendly management and foreign studies of scholars that overcame the limitations of domestic studies to present a foundation for work-life harmonization through a dual agenda approach. As a result, the existing family-friendly management was found to be compatible with work and family but was not effective in developing personal careers. The workers who actively accepted family-friendly management as part of their work-life balance were mostly female laborers who were employed part-time, had lower academic education, earned lower wages and, in general, were non-professional workers without specific skills or career aspirations. The remainder of the workers, full-time male employees, with higher education and with professional knowledge and skills, inevitably worked longer, more labor-intensive hours, due to the advent of the dual agenda approach. A new work-life harmonization program is urgently needed not only for family-friendliness but also for healthy organizations, individual career development and personal wellbeing.

  • As the Deep Cement Mixing Method is composed of drilled natural soft soil structure and injected cement slurry to be mix together in it, the nature of excavated ground is influenced directly to the application of constructability. Also the nature of in situ soil is the main material, the mix design and construction work plan should be established before the investigation of soil which is performed through the whole site confirm the soil parameter before construction. The nature of investigated soil and water level as should be performed accurately.

A Study on Occupations and Life Chance(The Case of Chonbuk Province) (직업과 생활기회에 관한 연구 (전북지역을 중심으로))

  • The main purpose of this study is to describe the different life chances among various occupational groups in Chonbuk Province which has been excluded in the process of Korea's industrialization since the 1960s. More specifically, this study analyzed to what extent 6 occupational groups have the different life chances in the sub-levels such as health conditions and leisure life. According to our data analysis, it is found that the 6 occupational groups have the different life chances. That is, while those who are engaged in the higher prestigious occupation have a good life chance, those who in the lower prestigious occupation have a worse life chance. For example, among 6 occupational groups, professional-managerial who secure the higher autonomy and stability in their work have the highest life chance in the labor and health, and leisure life. Next, professional-technical, white-collar, sales-service occupants have the higher life chance after the professional-managerial. However, these 3 occupation groups are partially inconsistent in the two sectors of the life chance. Specifically, the professional-technical, despite their autonomy and stability in the work world, conceived that their work conditions are worse as well as badly influencing on their own health. On the other band, the sales-service workers group, despite their lower social status, is relatively autonomous and stable in their work environment and thus has the higher life chances. Finally, agricultural and productive workers have relatively the lower lift chances. Nevertheless, there are some clear differences among these 2 occupational groups. That is, the farmers have relatively the higher life chances in the sectors of socio-economic characteristics, and labor and health rather than productive workers. As a result, the productive workers are generally located in the lowest level of life chance. This fact is particularly attributed to the fragility of manufacturing industries in Chonbuk Province.

  • The president of NSPE(2009-2010), Mr. Grossman had attended the The 3rd National Conference for Professional Engineers of Korea in accordance with the mutual agreement between KPEA and NSPE. He then, had a chance to present to our professional engineers about the licensure of professional engineers and engineering education of USA. The main contents of his presentation were introduction of the current situation of professional engineer system and needs to apply this licensure to the industry and education field, needs to strengthen the engineering education and needs to collaborate with Government in oder to open employment visa for foreign engineers. In the meantime, we should make use of this chance of engineer shortage in USA and let more Korean engineers work successfully in USA.

  • This study verifies the constituents of the professional image by a quantitative method that follows previous qualitative work to clarify the conceptual structure of the professional image for appearance management in the workplace. This study used on-line and off-line data from a positive sampling that involved 1,056 male and female workers engaged in 10 occupational classes. The results of the study were as follows: First, the constituents of a professional image include openness, leadership, harmonious relationship, and financial power, all of which demonstrated a high interrelationship. Second, there are significant differences in favorable factors according to the occupational category. It is important to strategically manage the professional image in consideration of effective image factors and related appearance attributes.

The levels of the vocational awareness and the professional ethics recognition in clinical dental hygienists (임상치과위생사의 직업인식 및 직업윤리 의식정도)

  • Objectives: This study was carried out for the purpose of examining the levels of vocational awareness and the professional ethics recognition in the clinical dental hygienists. Methods: A survey was conducted targeting 500 members who participated in the supplementary education program for dental hygienists in the first half of 2017. Total 328 subjects' materials were analyzed. Results: A reason for working in terms of the occupational identity was very high with 81.4% in 'aiming to earn money'. A goal of working was the highest with 41.5% in 'financial independence'. The professional ethics approach level was indicated to be the highest with 3.33 points in the domain of human relation. It was shown to be in order of the job satisfaction level with 3.21 points, followed by the lifelong working with 3.17 points, the vocational ethics observance with 2.95 points, the workplace satisfaction level with 2.82 points, and the job anxiety level with 2.65 points. The domain in the job anxiety level according to general characteristics was indicated to be significantly high in the higher age and work career in case of the married and in case of Seoul as a workplace. The domain in the professional ethics observance was shown to be significantly high in the higher work career in case of the married and in case of Gyeonggi Province as a workplace. The domain in the lifelong working was indicated to be significantly high in case of the married. Conclusions: For the establishment of the right professional ethics as a dental hygienist and for the securement of its practice starting from the education for the dental hygiene department, the development of educational program will be needed aiming at the approach to the professional ethics and the reinforcement in the vocational ethics recognition.
