건축재료 연소생성물에 포함된 입자상 물질의 위험성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Risk of Particulate Materials Included in the Combustion Products of Building Materials)

  • 본 연구에서는 입자상 물질의 유해성을 포함하는 연소생성물 독성평가 기법의 개발을 위한 선행 연구로써, 입자상 물질의 위험성을 확인하기 위한 실험을 수행하였다. 실험은 동일 시료의 가스유해성 시험을 통하여 교반상자와 피검상자 사이 Membrane 필터 설치 유무에 따른 평균행동정지시간의 변화를 분석함으로써, 연소생성물 중 입자상 물질을 필터링하여 노출시킨 경우와 입자상 물질을 포함한 연소생성물을 노출시킨 경우의 시험 결과를 비교 분석하였다. 시험결과 필터 장착 시 실험용 쥐의 평균행동 정지시간이 목재 시료의 경우 최대 264% 증가하였으며, 우레탄 시료의 경우 최대 179% 증가함을 확인하였다. 이를 통해 입자상 물질의 유해성 및 이에 대한 정량적 독성평가의 필요성을 확인하였다.

Ti-Al-C 합금의 고온 자전 합성 반응시 생성상에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Formation Phase of Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis of Ti-Al-C alloys)

  • In this study, an attempt was made to fabricate TiAl as well as its in situ composite via combustion synthesis. The processing variable of the combustion synthesis which include aluminum content and the heating rate were found to affect the combustion temperature. The combustion temperature measured, however, was lower than the melting temperature of TiAl and the reaction product were found to include incomplet reaction products. Carbon was added in order to increase the combustion temperature as well as to form in situ reinforcements. The reaction products showed homogeneous microstructures with carbide phases formed within indicating that the addition of carbon increased the combustion temperature above the melting temperature of TiAl.

연소합성에 의한 크로메이트 내화물 제조 (Chromate Refractory by Combustion Process)

  • Self propagating synthesis and thermal explosion of combustion reactions were applied to Al/K2Cr2O7/Al2O3 system as the first stage for a production of magnesia-chromium refractory. Several factors related to products made by two combustion reactions were considered and properties of products were characterised. Two processes were required to preheat upto at least 80$0^{\circ}C$ for the thermal explosion and the self propagating synthesis. These processes were so violent and explosive that alumina as diluent was added to the system in order to absorb the reaction heat and reduce the reaction rate. The products consisted of crystal phases of KAl5O8, Cr2O3, Al2O3, K2CrO4, and K2Al2O4.3H2O. The amount of KAl5O8 and K2Al2O4.3H2O crystal phases of products were decreased with further addition of alumina.

Self-Cementitious Hydration of Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustion Fly Ash

  • Fly ash from a circulating fluidized bed combustion boiler (CFBC fly ash) is very different in mineralogical composition, chemical composition, and morphology from coal ash from traditional pulverized fuel firing because of many differences in their combustion processes. The main minerals of CFBC fly ash are lime and anhydrous gypsum; however, due to the fuel type, the strength development of CFBC fly ash is affected by minor components of active $SiO_2$ and $Al_2O_3$. The initial hydration product of the circulating fluidized bed combustion fly ash (B CFBC ash) using petro coke as a fuel is Portlandite which becomes gypsum after 7 days. Due to the structural features of the portlandite and gypsum, the self-cementitious strength of B CFBC ash was low. While the hydration products of the circulating fluidized bed combustion fly ash (A CFBC ash) using bituminous coal as a fuel were initially portlandite and ettringite, after 7 days the hydration products were gypsum and C-S-H. Due to the structural features of ettringite and C-S-H, A CFBC ash showed a certain degree of self-cementitious strength.

  • The characteristics of mild combustion and pollutant emission were investigated computationally with supplied air stream temperature and dilution rate in jet flame. The air was diluted with main combustion products. As dilution rate increased at fixed air temperature, the temperature distribution of burner inside was uniformed and the maximum mole fraction of CO and NO was decreased. In addition, emission indices for NO, CO, and $CO_2$ were compared with air temperature and dilution rate.

  • The effect of the mechanical alloying of elemental Mo and Si powders on the combustion densification behavior of MoSi$_2$ was investigated. The ignition temperature of the combustion reaction of the mechanically alloyed powder was measured to be significantly lower than that of the powder mixture prepared by the low energy ball milling process. The densification of the products after the combustion reaction under compressive pressure from the mechanically alloyed powders, however, was found to be poorer than that of the products from the ball milled powder.

  • This paper experimentally examined the recycling of combustion by-products emitted from a combined heat and power plant using lignocellulosic biomass fuel. Physical and chemical analyzes were performed on Bio-SRF and three types of wood pellet combustion by-product samples (fly-ash, FA). As a result of the experiment, the compressive strength of mortar substituted with 5, 10, and 20% of FA compared to the cement weight was found to be excellent, and its recyclability was confirmed as a substitute for existing admixtures.

숯과 성형숯의 연소를 통해 배출되는 가스 발생량 및 실내공간 환기량 평가 (Evaluation of the Amount of Gas Generated through Combustion of Wood Charcoal and Agglomerated Charcoal Depending on Air Ventilation)

  • 본 연구는 국내 숯불구이 음식점의 화구당 평균 공간을 바탕으로 제작된 모형 연소방을 이용하여 국내에서 유통되고 있는 숯과 성형숯의 연소 조건에 따라 발생하는 연소 가스와 연소 특성에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 각각 3종의 숯과 성형숯의 연료 특성과 연소 특성을 분석하였다. 또한, 밀폐 조건과 환기 조건으로 구분하고 총 20분의 연소과정 동안 발생하는 CO, CO2, NOx의 농도와 O2 농도의 변화량을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, CO의 발생량은 밀폐 조건에서 1390~4703 ppm의 범위로 측정되었으며, 환기 시 약 29.8%~57.4%의 환기율을 보였다. CO2는 밀폐 조건에서 1.34%~2.42%의 범위로 나타났으며, 환기시 특정 시점(10분)에 1.5% 이상 발생한 시료에서 44.1%~53.6%의 환기율을 보였다. NOx의 발생량은 밀폐 조건의 경우 불완전 연소로 인해 지속적으로 발생량이 증가하여 29 ppm~47 ppm의 범위로 발생하는 경우와 특정 시점(1분) 이후 9 ppm~18 ppm의 범위로 비교적 일정한 발생량을 보이는 경우로 나뉘었다. 환기 조건의 NOx 배출량은 밀폐 조건과 유사한 경향을 보였으며, 최대 62.5%의 환기율을 보였다. 따라서, 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 숯과 성형숯의 사용환경을 모사하여 인체 유해성 평가에 활용 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

  • The practical route for disposal of sewage sludge becomes energy recovery by combustion after its ocean dumping is banned in 2012 in Korea. Due to the high moisture content, however, sewage sludge is required to be dried before transport and combustion. In this study, pyrolysis and combustion characteristics of dried sewage sludge was investigated in a small-scale fixed bed reactor in order to provide fundamental data for energy recovery of the fuel. As the first step of combustion, the primary products of pyrolysis were analyzed in a fixed bed reactor for the condensable volatiles (tar), non-condensable gases, and char. For the combustion characteristics, another fixed bed reactor was constructed to monitor the weight and temperature of the fuel particles during ignition and combustion under different air flow rates. The test results were used to derive the ignition and burning rates.

The Relationship Between Firing Modes and Nitric Oxide Emission In Highly Preheated Air Combustion

  • The influence of combustion air at temperatures on nitric oxide emission was studied. The nitric oxide emission generally increases with a rise in the temperature of the combustion air. However, if combustion products for dilution of fuel or combustion air are used before the combustion reaction, then the nitric oxide emission can be reduced even when highly preheated air for combustion air is used. Combustion in low oxygen concentrations flattens the firing mode, resulting in a uniform reaction, and, thus, low nitric oxide emission can be achieved.
