Wheat gluten-chitosan composite film (WGCCF) can prevent moisture migration and enhance the antimicrobial properties of gluten in intermediate-moisture foods like sandwiches. To mimic the structure of actual sandwich-type products we developed multi-layer food models, where moisture content and water activity differ. Water activity gradients direct moisture migration and therefore determine product characteristics and product stability. A 10% wheat gluten film-forming solution was mixed with chitosan film-forming solution (0-3%, w/w) and evaporated to generate WGCCF. Addition of 3% chitosan enhanced the mechanical properties of the film composite, lowered its water vapor permeability, and improved its ability to protect against both, Streptococcus faecalis and Escherichia coli, in a 24 hr sandwich test (reduction of 1.3 and 2.7 log cycles, respectively, compared to controls). Best barrier and antimicrobial performance was found for 3% chitosan WGCCF at pH 5.1. Film of this type may find application as barrier film for intermediate-moisture foods.

This paper shows that internet retailers adjust the total expenses of their customer's purchase by the nominal price of each product and the delivery fee of the purchase. This paper compares the total expenses of purchasing a bundle of goods in the internet market against the total expenses of purchasing the same bundle of goods in the traditional market. The results show that the type of goods and the total expenses of a purchase, together with their interaction, determine up to 60% or 80% of the variance of the difference between the expenses up the same purchase in the two markets. The results also show that neither the expenses of a purchase nor its interaction with the product type affects the dispersion of total purchase expenses in the internet market.

By applying a catalytic amount of indium trichloride, regioselective ring-opening of epoxides to ${\beta}$-hydroxy ethers was established. While the alcoholysis of styrene oxides produed $S_N1$-type product, the alcoholysis of ${\alpha}$-heteroatom-substituted epoxides predominantly produced $S_N2$-type product.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the main factors of return and consumers' return behavior types and also to find out the characteristics of consumer's purchasing behavior according to consumer's return behavior type. The Questionnaires was administered 315 males and females, who had experience of clothing purchase and return in internet shopping mall. The results were as follows. First, the factors of return were classified into quality of product, delivery, service, consumer's change of mind, and impulse buying. Second, 4 types of consumer's return behavior were categorized into habitual, dissatisfaction in product quality, dissatisfaction in delivery, and impulse buying. Third, Consumer's return behavior types were not significantly related to the frequency of purchase, information search. However there were significant differences in satisfaction of return process, dissatisfaction after return, and negative word of mouth according to the consumer's return behavior types.

Today's manufacturing industry is facing challenges from advanced difficult-to-machine materials (WC-Co alloys, ceramics, and composites), stringent design requirements (high precision, complex shapes, and high surface quality), and machining costs. Advanced materials play an increasingly important role in modem manufacturing industries, especially, in aircraft, automobile, tool, die and mold making industries. The greatly-improved thermal, chemical, and mechanical properties of the material (such as improved strength, heat resistance, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance), while having yielded enormous economic benefits to manufacturing industries through improved product performance and product design, are making traditional machining processes unable to machine them or unable to machine them economically. In this paper, mechanical characteristic evaluation test of fine powder type WC-Co alloy was accomplished to obtain clear data for miniaturized special die parts machining with high reliability and high quality.

In this study, slope stability analysis of LCRS(Leachate Collection Removel System) in waste landfill was peformed by large scale field test. Geocomat is new type of geocomposite product. Gecomat is a sort of Geocomposite product. It is composed of nonwoven geotextiles, woven geotextile, and geonet. Large scale field tests were performed on the slope of different two LCRSsections with static loading condition. One is LCRS section witch consist of GCL, HDPE and Geocomat, another is GCL, HDPE, and woven type geocomposite. The behavior of geosynthetics lined slope was monitored by incorporating instrumentation including vertical soil pressure meter, settlement plate, strain gauges, potential meter, displacement pin.. Based on the field monitoring, the Geocomat LCRS section is less sliding than the conventional geocomposite LCRS section.
This paper analyzes the determinants of firm's innovative activity, using Korean Innovation Survey (KIS) dataset. Especially, we focused on the role of external networks by partners(other firms or research institutions) in performing innovative activities. The product innovation, product improvement, and process innovation are used as proxies for innovative activity. The explanatory variables such as market concentration ratio, lagged profitability, foreign ownership, export ratio, firm's age, formal R&D activity, and industrial R&D intensity are also considered. With data from 1,124 firms for the two years (2000-2001), we estimated the logistic regression model. The finding is that the determinants of firm's innovative activities differ by type of innovations. We also found that the innovative behavior of SMEs differs from that of large firms. The result confirms that external networks have a strong positive effect on innovative activity. However, the network effects by partners vary across both firm size and type of innovations.
The arbitrary primed polymerase chain reaction (AP-PCR) has been used to detect the genetic alternations in the related species. Simple and reproducible fingerprints of complex genomes can be generated using single arbitrary chosen primers and the PCR. The technique was applied to the Oryza species and characterized the relationship among three cultivars of rice species based on theresult of genomic DNA fingerprints. The results indicated that the polymorphism revealed in rice strains and the differences in the PCR product pattern could be represented for each strainis. There was many variationsin the PCR product pattern between cv. Dongin(japonica type)and cv.Hyangdo (indica type), and our chosen AP-primers can ge as markers for strain identification and verfication.

When the membrane protein fraction of mating type a cells of heterobasidiomycetous yeast R. toruloides was phosphorylated in vitro, two phosphorylated proteins of 72Kd and 57Kd were detected on SDS-polyacryamide gel. The phosphorylation reaction was inhibited by rhodotorucine A(Rh. A) which is a sexual pheromone secreted by mating type A cells. The inhibition of phosphorylation by Rh. A was dependent on $Ca^{2+}$, and independent on $Mg^{2+}$ or calmodulin. When adding trigger peptidase(TPase) inhibitor, antipain, no inhibition of phosphory was observed. Also, by adding the trysin-digested product of Rh. A, the phosphorylation was inhibited as the action of Rh. A. From these results, it is expected that the inhibition of membrane protein phosphorylation should be caused by the digested product of Rh. A with TPase.
Acid-catalyzed benzidine rearrangements of new unsymmetrical diazanes 1-3, prepared from the reduction of corresponding diazenes 4-6, were carried out in ethanolic solutions. The results are as follows; rearrangement of (3-carbomethoxyphenyl)(3-methoxyphenyl)diazane 1 gave 4,4'-diamino-2-carbomethoxy-2'-methoxybiphenyl 12 (p-benzidine type) in 71% and 10-amino-3-methoxyphenanthridin-6(5H)-one 13, 8-amino-3-methoxyphenanthridin-6(5H)-one 14 in 7.1% and 3.4%, respectively. Product 13 and 14 were formed by the condensation reaction of primarily formed o-benzidine and diphenyline type product, respectively. (5-Carbomethoxy-2-chlorophenyl)(4-methoxyphenyl)diazane 2 and (5-carbomethoxy-2-methylphenyl)(4-methoxyphenyl)diazane 3 underwent mainly disproportionations to give fission amines and corresponding diazenes in about 53% and 40% yields, respectively. The results obtained from the rearrangements of diazanes 1-3 indirectly indicated the importance of disproportionations to understand the benzidine rearrangements. The structures of benzidine rearrangement products were determined by usual NMR techniques such as DEPT, 2D H-H COSY, H-C COSY, 2D NOESY, and Gaussian function multiplication.
